    Ducks before the cold season!

Beautiful place to come with kiddos or a very scenic walk and some exercise to the top of the mountain. Many friends and family including myself have been married here at the gazebo which is such a photogenic atmosphere. You can reserve any of the amenities also free of charge which I think is completely awesome and a way to give back to the community. I've taken my pups for many mountains climbs up the trails and the city from up there is a MUST SEE in Lancaster for our admirable glass town memories of arts, various festivals, fairground activities, and much much mountain and city views.

    Great shaded playground! (7/7/2020)

I'm a bit ashamed to say I finally made it to Rising Park after 30 some years. It's a great city park: trees surrounding two ponds; walking paths all around; and a nice playground area for younger generations. There is a certain walking path apparently that winds up the hill that overlooks Lancaster. I'll have to come back and walk the path and see where it leads. There's tons of picnic tables all around the playground and pond, a plus for day trips. There's tennis courts and a softball/baseball diamond out in the open air if you're into those sports. Overall, this is a great place for family gatherings, for kids of all ages, even if you just want to walk off some pinned up energy.

Growing up in Lancaster, Rising has forever had my heart. Over the years, I've used Rising for T-ball practice as a kid, fishing with my grandpa, team dinners for my high school football team, track workouts, ice skating, sledding, and of course hiking. Rising offers just about everything you could ask for. The park area features numerous picnic tables, benches, a playground, a baseball diamond, tennis courts, 2 ponds, a gazebo, large covered outdoor dining areas, horseshoes, and more. On top of this, Rising is the home of Mt Pleasant. Mt Pleasant is a 250 vertical foot "mountain" that boasts (in my opinion) the most gorgeous sunset views you will find in central Ohio. From the top, you will have beautiful panoramic views of the city of Lancaster. On a clear day, you can also see the silhouette of Columbus' skyline. The climb can be fairly strenuous to those who aren't very active. However, it has break areas along the way and I have seen people of all ages make the walk up it's well-maintained path. For the workout buffs out there, adding a jog up Mt. Pleasant to your program is sure to challenge you! If you are from central Ohio and haven't given Mt. Pleasant a chance, you are missing out!

Cannot say enough good things about Rising Park. GREAT park to spend time, waste time, hang out for hours, etc. The idea is you walk up the hill, not easy but not an intense workout either, then you've reached the view. The cliff hangs over the city of Lancaster and the view is PHENOMENAL. There's plenty of space to goof around or space yourself from others. The rails are in place with the intention of keeping visitors in, but often people ignore and sit on the edge of the cliff. The view is best at sunset, it's so open. Great for taking pictures, for taking the family out, for hanging with friends.

Then, we hear that one of the safety doors on the passenger side is not there, as it was jammed and had to be removed. We asked for a replacement unit, and we got a response back from your guide/receptionist: "This is all we got, and it's fine." It's a serious breach of safety. With some hesitation, we started trailing for 10-15 minutes, and at the first pit stop (at the obstacle course building), we were told that the right passenger tire is "flat." We requested your team to replace the tire, as it's not safe for us to ride with a flat tire. Response we got from your guides: "We don't have replacement tires." "We don't have replacement units." They recommended we ride with a flat tire (have evidence to prove) as the company doesn't have a backup unit and we were in the middle of the trail, and it's ok for the company if any damages incur directly or indirectly from the flat tire. After riding for a short time, the right side axle/tire got damaged from the traction created from the right side rear tire being flat. We were so disappointed that we had to share a ride with 2 units when we paid for 3 units in the middle of the course. From the start, we never went off trail or beyond tracks and followed rules and instructions from the beginning. A few days later, we got a bill for $1100 for repairs. No official receipt of repairs, just an email with 3 lines stating we will charge your credit card the above-mentioned amount. This is a whole rip-off company, with poorly maintained ATVs and a lack of professional support and risking your life. It will also charge you money for there defective equipment.

When I called to schedule the time the staff didn't seem super enthused that we wanted to come early but the process to get scheduled was quick and painless. We arrived (cell service is spotty in the area so have maps downloaded) to a very eerie gate that seemed to be on a sensor and opened when we pulled up. After going down a long windy road and parking on a dirt patch we arrived at check in. Process was quick and painless, the young adults that were there were still waking up for the day so now I see why they were hoping we wanted to come later in the day. We chose to do the ropes course so we got suited up and headed up to the course. There were a few lanes on the course closed but otherwise it was a great morning activity for me and my niece. If your in the area head over, the guide was great and the course was worth it!

The environment and the people that were climbing also had a good vibe; plus good music. Came today and had such a good time challenging myself in all kinds of difficulty levels. Staff was friendly too at check-in! I also loved how clean and well-organized the weight training area was. The staff here is fantastic. They are super knowledgeable and informative. It has two semi separate bouldering areas. Envision a "J" shape gym. One wall has a long overhang. The other side has a staggered wall. All walltopia walls. I thought the setting was spot on level wise. The gym was exceptionally clean. The carpet material they use is exceptional at trapping the chalk dust. The staff were constantly cleaning up. The other climbers are also on point in terms of politeness! I loved their "happy hour" discounted day pass at $12. Their regular rates are on their website. They have a small training area with one treadmill and other equipment. Their training wall is manual which is so cute! A few areas of improvement. There's no changing or shower area. In the spirit of inclusion, there's one side of the gym with urinals and on side without. The sinks are on the outside of the bathrooms. I think this is fine but folks should know there's no area to shower, wash feet or change except to go into the bathroom stalls. The two brushes that they have are really old and pivoted. Meaning, they are so worn down one side is even missing the brushes. They are also too large to fit into some of the higher holds. In terms of setting, it was solid with great variety - mantles, overhangs, crimps, arretes, traverses, dynamic movements, but I wish that there was a little more creativity. I'm not the strongest climber but I wished their were climbs where I was like "wow" I've never seen that before! Apparently the 5 life setters set a section here every week and they rotate between the gyms so it probably will be the same at the other gyms. It sounds correct as I've visited the other gyms as well. Pro tip. This gym is within walking distance of the Audubon outdoor climbing wall. But they are not associated with each other.

Not an easy task. We are talking seriously of coming back and doing the X tour. We now have another destination for next year. I know it shouldn't be said, so I left it for last. I truly believe Yelp's silly ass policy of no selfies should be changed. There are boulders to climb, outdoor musical instruments to play, a treehouse to play pretend in (and is wheelchair accessible!), a merry-go-round, swings, a traditional playground structure with slides, and lots more. The playground area is lined with wood chips. There is also lots of space to run around, and lots of trees. Like the name of the park suggests, this is a very sensory-friendly park, and there are nature stations set up all around where you can use your senses to explore. There is also a short, paved trail that goes around the park, which is wide and smooth enough for strollers and wheelchairs. The trail goes by a creek, which is nice. Along the path are a variety of interactive stations that are also designed to be accessible. If you start near the entry sign, you'll find a Little Free Library, which, on our recent visit, was loaded with a lot of great kids options. Just ahead is a variety of benches and a little music garden, featuring musical instruments that can be played, and you can also interact with the Rough Bark Tactile Display to learn more about different tree barks. A little further down are the cutest animal looking instruments that can also be used. As you continue down the path, you find a swingset with a variety of swings that include both traditional and accessible options. There's a nice little shaded bench area with information about the creek, Fetter's Run, that can be seen from the location. As you proceed along, a very exciting find is the Treehouse, which is built within the forest trees as opposed to up in one, which allows a wheelchair ramp to make it accessible. This overlooks the creek and has things to explore, like neat nature art and a second floor (not accessible) with a fire pole. At the end of the path is a shelter house with picnic tables and nearby grills. Most, if not all, of the signage included Braille translations, as well. There is a large parking lot here, but I do note that this is located behind a school, so I'm not sure how that would affect parking for a visit during a school day.
