I wanted to go to a small business riding facility, but I would NEVER go here again. We arrived 30min early as requested, only to be left waiting for an hour. We did not get on our horses until an hour past our scheduled time, and the next group had already shown up. Our trail guide was vaping and talking on the phone the whole time, the vapor blowing back into my face. But worst of all, the trail guide did not tighten my saddle, claiming that she doesn't believe in having the girths super tight. When the saddle proceeded to slip, just a few yards from where we took off, it was blamed on me. She claimed it was because I have uneven stirrups and she "knew they didn't look right". I was highly upset by this experience and her ignorance. Do not go here, it is unsafe and unpleasant. I will highly recommend trying a different facility. read more

My two kids (they are older teens) and I had the most fantastic time horseback riding together through Hocking Hills with Blue Moon Acres. It was a phenomenal experience and I highly recommend booking a ride here! We will definitely be back again in the future. read more

This was my third visit to Blue Moon Acres. I love this place! Becky is very down to earth and she KNOWS horses. Don't take your children here, this is for ADULTS. She takes you down some of the most beautiful trails. She even stops to take your picture for you. Her horses vary in size and breed and are very well taken care of. No plug horses here. Poor time management! Poor communication to riders. We had a 10:30 ride. Came in at 9:00 to groom. Still not riding at 11:37. She yelled at my daughter whom I was clear had no experience ! Don't waste your time as it will be an entire day of waiting for the owner to eat, vape and complain about her "old age". read more

This is my third time coming back here and I will continue to come here every year! This time I managed to get the entire family here (husband and 2 boys) and had an amazing riding experience as always. My husband and I are larger people but we still love to ride. They currently have 3 horses that can accommodate us. We travel almost 3.5 hours from Pittsburgh to come here. This is a riding experience for more adventurous riders as the terrain is rough and you need to be an active participant. The trails are gorgeous and the horses are top of the line as is the riding equipment. You just cannot beat the price for what you get. Becky also offers a discount if you come early to groom. We always take this opportunity, not so much for the discount, but for the bonding experience you will have with your trail horse. My husband rode Stroker, a percheron who is as sweet as he is big! I rode my favorite sassy girl, Mysti'k. You have to be an "involved" rider with her as she is "old enough to know better, but young enough not to care." Personally, I enjoy riding a horse that is not on auto-pilot. My youngest rode "his gal" Lucy. Also a little sassy (Mysti'ks mama), but a solid trail horse. My older son has the least experience. Instead of choosing a horse for him, Becky suggested he spend time with both Black Jack and Hot Shot to see which one he bonded with. Black Jack was it! Even though you could pretty much shoot a cannon off this horse's back, Becky spent time with my son making sure he was comfortable and would have a great ride. Which he did! My younger son and I are planning on returning in the spring so we can do an even longer and more active trail ride. read more

I cannot stop telling people about our ride with Becky! Not only was the trail riding an amazing experience, Becky goes above and beyond to take care of her riders and her beautiful horse family. I am a beginner/intermediate level rider and my husband is a novice. We both got to experience a fantastic trail ride that both challenged and satisfied our skill levels. When we both lost items due to our own lack of responsibility, Becky was not only helpful in trying to help us locate them but even posted the lost items on a Facebook group for the local riders/hikers. She didn't stopped looking for us and found both the Phone and Sunglasses 5 days later! I cannot express how much More this is then your typical "public stables" You're treated like family cause you are riding with family. Had an amazing time today on our horse ride!! These horses are very well cared for and Becky along with her husband are so sweet and funny! They made us feel welcomed and got us extremely comfortable with riding the horses (we are novices). We got off the horses feeling confident that we can ride again sometime in the future! My friend and I are novices and we rode here in June 2022. I can't say enough good things about this experience. It is so much nicer than going to typical riding stables for the following reasons: 1) they take excellent care of their horses and you learn a lot about each horse, 2) you get to ride on the same beautiful trails in Hocking Hills where experienced horse owners go to ride 3) you get to spend time with the horses and groom them in addition to just riding, 4) you are given a lot of attention and helpful training based on your skill level, 5) it is a more personal experience with more one on one attention, like riding with a good friend, and the thing I like the most, 6) the horses do not just follow the horse in front of them and refuse to do what you ask, like they do at may stables, but the horses are very responsive to you, and you can easily direct the horse to do what you ask, and you can enjoy being able to actually work with your horse like the horse is your partner. Due to all of these things, I had the best time riding here and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a really immersive experience. But book early because they are often booked up well in advance. read more

My mother-in-law and I had a fantastic trail ride today through the beautiful forest. The horses were wonderful, well-trained, friendly, and very well cared for. Had a great experience riding here! The horses were very well trained. They keep the trail ride personal, allowing only small groups (4 I think). I got a ride with only my boyfriend and the guide, who was a wonderful woman. She was very knowledgable about the area. She even stopped us at a photo op and took a bunch of pictures for us. We got an opportunity to pick up the pace with the horses too, just a taste of trotting and cantering but some places won't do that at all. Her trail is beautiful with it's own rock formations and is intended to be a bit more adventurous, with some very steep parts. Definitely recommend Blue Moon! read more

My girlfriend and I love horseback riding. Living in Central Ohio, like we do, we've always felt that our options for riding were limited, at best. Without a doubt though, that changed yesterday! Yesterday, we went riding, at Blue Moon Acres and I can't tell you how glad we did. Wow! We're STILL blown away! I think most people who go riding, at public stables, get frustrated by the same things my girlfriend and I do. We hate seeing horses that are kept in less than ideal conditions. We also hate being treated as a source of income, for the stable. You know; that rush the customer through mentality, that leaves you feeling like you're just a number. Well, my girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised and pleased, when it became clear that we had finally found a stable that doesn't conduct business that way. We were also glad to see the concern Becky and Robert have for their horse's happiness and well being. Speaking of Becky and Robert; they couldn't have been nicer. They're great people! What's even more amazing about Blue Moon Acres is the fact that, I haven't mentioned how incredible our riding experience was with them yet. It was simply amazing! We had an incredible time! The trails this outfit uses are utterly unbelievable! We broke into a trot, several times and even cantered down a part of the trail, at one point. Other stables don't let you do this. We rode past waterfalls, through valleys, watered our horses in a stream, and even dismounted, to have lunch, under a huge rock outcropping, in the middle of just about the most beautiful country I've seen, in Ohio! I kept wanting to pinch myself! I just can't say enough good things about the whole experience my girlfriend and I had, yesterday. Becky or Robert, if you read this, it's a bet. You're going to be seeing us again, a lot sooner than you'd expect. After seeing what you have to offer us, as riders and how you do business, we've found our place to go riding, from now on.
