This is a nice minority owned small business that serves coffee and pastries. The owner was running things while I was there and he was very friendly and helpful. The shop is kind of retro and has a small dining area that you can enjoy your purchases it. I will admit, the pastries did not look too appealing to me. They looked like they had been there a while. They have a small coffee menu that is direct and to the point. My friend order a coffee Americano and I asked the barista for something sweet and tasty. He suggested a Somali tea. It did not take long for us to get our drinks. My friend said his was good. Much better than the chain coffee shop that starts with S. Mine was good too. It was piping hot. I had to let it cool down a bit, before I could fully enjoy it. This shop has some very reasonable prices. You can't beat them. It has great ownership and a cozy/quaint dining area. I recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

Perfect for a cold winter day. I also like trying the variety of Somalian baked goods. They are not as sweet as American ones, which I appreciate, but they are delicious and keep me coming back for more. The coffee shop is small, but inviting, and it's a special place that is worth a visit.

I got to explore a bit and was able to read posted history of the architectural influences that many people had on the city. And well as admire art from local artist on their second floor landing. Their coffee was some of the best I've had. I opted for the Butterscotch Latte and it was perfect for the cold morning stroll we embarked on. It has smooth, creamy, with notes of butter and earthy cardamom. I'm visiting from out of town but I would not hesitate grabbing another coffee before leaving town. Highly recommended.

There are loads of local businesses inside the Athenaeum and as a fun tip, if you are a member of Turner Gym, you get 10% off your Coat Check coffee. I decided to take advantage of that the other day and got myself a delicious Chai latte. I love their presentation and the expansive mugs their drinks are served in. It feels like indulging in a little luxury. When I really want something special, I get their pistachio latte. It's super tasty! They have baked goods as well and the from my experience, the staff working are kind and friendly. There's loads of open seating scattered throughout this floor of the building. There's loads is also some quiet seating one floor up that I believe faces a gallery wall. Every time I come here I notice something new! Highly recommend checking it out. There is street parking, garage parking, and if you're willing to walk a few blocks, free parking not far as well. Enjoy!
