We ordered here on a Sunday during the virus quarantine and had it delivered. We selected a 6 pm delivery time, and it came at 6 pm on the dot. All three of us really enjoyed the food. I got the big boy grilled cheese panini and it was delicious. I substituted the fries with onion rings and they were some of the best I've had...sooo crispy! I also got an order of disco fries because calories don't count on weekends, and was also super impressed with them. They didn't just slap a slice of cheese on top, every fry was perfectly crisped, gravy-ed, and cheesed! I can't wait until next weekend - definitely ordering breakfast. I know pretty much all NJ diners offer the same things, but this is one of the best diner meals I've had. So happy it's right around the corner. read more

So this past Saturday night we wanted to try the new restaurant in Ringwood called Sam's Bar and Grill. When we got there we waited almost 20 minutes for someone to come over to our table and no one ever came so we left and went across the street to the Lakeside Diner. Not exactly the night we had planned but let me tell you that it was a great decision!! Our waiter Eduardo was excellent and very funny. Our meal was delicious and the owner Chris actually comes around to see how your meal was! I have never been at a diner where that happens. After we finished with our meal the owner passed by again and sat down with us for a nice conversation and a few laughs! We will definitely be going back!!! read more

This was our first time for breakfast, lunche are ok, nice salads and soups. I ordered 2 poached eggs on a bed of spinach with bacon and a side of fruit. My husband a breakfast wrap and home fries coffee for both of us. The coffee was seriously like mud so asked for tea, water was lukewarm. Ok so my order wasn't offered on the menu I didn't want any carbs so I had asked 2 eggs poached on a bed of spinach, fruit cup and bacon. The bacon was cold and excessively fatty. The waitress offered to take back and make crispy, no way do I ever send food back ever. Besides it would have burned since it was 90% fat. My husbands wrap tasted stale and had the consistency of cardboard. The potatoes were not very appetizing. We really should have walked out, I just couldn't do that. As we were checking out I just had to speak up and tell them how awful our breakfasts were, breakfast for 2 at$29 should have been exceptional. When I mentioned my dissatisfaction to the cashier, whom is one of the owners I discovered 1, waitress charged me incorrectly, 2. The husband mentioned that their supplier brought the wrong type of bacon and potatoes Howe they had to use them as that was all they had. I don't know if anyone else complained, regardless the smart thing for them to do would be to have either comped the bill or oven us a gift certificate.. really. The man said that "it will be better next time". Very short sighted, they would have lost the $$ for one meal, and since we dine out fairly regularly, we won't be going back, that's for sure! Most visits great ,always good food ,fair prices and svc till past Tuesday eve 12/20/22 . We were seated ,with attendance being lite as expected on a Tuesday. Our waitress took our order .Wife and I saw server only once after that .She was serving only two customers. All food, refills ,requests etc handled by Bus Boy whom by the way was wonderful and very attentive . During our entire visit she never once paid us a visit. She was either at counter conversing with friends or at same location on Cell phone. Lucky for her Owner /manager not on duty ,as she was useless. This particular Server, first in probably 20 yrs that I failed to tip . Am making it perfectly clear the culprit not the hard working black haired waitress with glasses . Overall, wife and I enjoy your great diner and will continue to patronize your establishment .I must say that I understand your plight as the spoiled kids of our day have little desire to work. This was my first visit to Lakeside Diner. It was 3:30pm on a Saturday after a hike. I was given a menu and I took a seat at the counter. I ordered the Chipotle Burger with fries. I enjoyed my meal while listening to the I Heart Radio system of 70's pop tunes and watching local cable news. The burger comes in the some-assembly-required style so I guess I can only blame myself it's it's not put together the way I want it. Diner fries usually are sub par but these were very good. I also got a pickle and cole slaw. As with most diners, you get diner sized proportions but I managed to finish it all. Aside from pasta prices being on the high side, it's pretty good. read more

My family and I had recently just went there for a dinner prior to the local fair. We went minutes without the host and others acknowledging us. Manager looked our way and hurried back into the kitchen. I do not mind a wait but I prefer an acknowledgment from staff. No response was given until we asked if we could get acknowledged. I too work in the restaurant business and understand staffing could be short and I understand wait times, but you should never leave patrons waiting at the door with no acknowledgement! read more

This place is okay. Definitely better than the other place that was here beforehand, but nothing to be too too impressed with in my opinion. I have visited the new Lakeside diner around 3 times thus far and haven't had anything too amazing be served to me. They seem to not know the difference between scrambled eggs and an omelet. Every time I asked for scrambled eggs with tomatoes and cheese they told me that what I wanted was an omelet. This confuses me, but I'm not much of a troublemaker when it comes to ordering so I accepted it and got an omelet instead. I still do not believe that scrambled eggs and an omelet is the same thing, because scrambled is scrambled and an omelet is not... It took a very long time for me to get my cream for my iced coffee which also frustrated me. My friend ordered her bacon well done and it honestly didn't seem like it was cooked at all. I am glad that I didn't order bacon because I will not eat it if it is not crispy and it would have been a complete waste of money for me. They need to pay more attention to specific customer requests because I also saw this same comment below about the bacon not actually being well done at all. Another time I visited this place I got the pancakes "stuffed" with nutella and banana. It literally looked like something that I could have made myself and the pancakes were pretty dry. The dish was basically three pancakes with nutella spread on the top of the top pancake with around 4 banana slices on the top, not stuffed at all. I expected something a little more presentable and delicious looking since the description described it as more of a specialty dish but I kind of felt like it was the type of thing you would get if you just asked for nutella and banana extra toppings or something like that. read more

We have been to Lakeside diner about five times now, and have not been disappointed. It passed my initial diner test - making a good burger. A soft brioche roll! Fresh ground beef, not frozen, hot & juicy! Perfect! Get the deluxe, it comes with french fries and onion ring, lettuce and tomato, pickle and coleslaw. I have gotten the souvlaki dinner several times now. Chicken kebabs with french fries and a Greek salad. Excellent! We went on Valentine's Day, which would have been a nightmare at many restaurants. Their dinner was fantastic and included lobster bisque, salad, entrée and dessert - a huge slab of strawberry cheesecake that was unbelievable! From what I've read, this diner will have no problems passing my breakfast test. I am so grateful to have this diner here, and a new place to eat close to home.The owners are eager to please, they take suggestions, and I have not been disappointed yet. read more

Unlike most other diners, this one doesn't make you feel like a number or dollar sign. Both my visits in the past two weeks left me feeling more like family. From the motherly woman who greeted me and my baby at the front hostess stand, to the attentive server, and owner Chris who has no problem playing bus boy if the dining room needs cleaning. The portions are very generous, prices fair, and selection good. We can't wait to come back to try the specials! (Table next to ours ordered the Sizzling Steak which smelled and looked incredible.) I was very disappointed since there were so many positive reviews. First I ordered coffee and there was lipstick on my cup which was not mine :(. Then the bacon came out and looked days old. My 23 mos old spit it out. $3.50 for concentrate cranberry juice. Then I found a gray hair in his home fries. To say the least I lost my appetite. I had French toast that was soggy and not good. 2 adults and a toddler. $36 for not much and not good. Never will go back. read more

I have been here many times over the year as it has changed owners and the food always changes as well. For the millionth time of going into this place I seen it has changed to a new owner. And the inside was beautiful clean and everything a stylish red leather with chrome seats and red plushy booths. Service is very friendly when greeted and taken care of. I also had a scrumptious philly cheesecake and pickle word of advice would be to ask for extra cheese to really give it flavor. Great change from the previous owners.
