I LOVE diners! I am happy to report that I really enjoyed eating here for breakfast the other weekend after visiting the Ringwood Botanical Garden. The menu had lots of choices and fair prices. I went with the fit egg white omelet, dry toast, fruit, and a side of turkey bacon. The portion was perfect and everything was to my liking. My fiance had the croissant french toast sandwich which he happily gobbled up and I dreamt of eating myself. The coffee was very good and was kept flowing by our waitress. There are not many places to eat around this area and I would happily eat here again to try lunch items. read more

This place is really really mediocre at best. No doubt it gets elevated reviews since Ringwood is lacking any restaurant worth frequenting. I got a patty melt. The lower bread was sitting in a puddle of grease on the plate. It had the consistency of mashed potatoes. Wife got a turkey club that was dry and tasteless. Son got an omelette which was ok, though small. Service and coffee refills were slow. It wasn't the worst food ever, and decidedly better than the prior diner, but I'd still rather drive over to pompton queen or state line if I'm going to spend money. read more

My friends and I always go to our favorite diner Pompton Queens Diner, but we decided to go somewhere different and drove down to Lakeside. I was once recommended to go there so it had to be good. The place is alright-typical diner. My waitress was great. I wish I remembered her name to give her more recognition because she was very lovely. However, the food was not lovely. My friends and I ordered the BLT, Reuben Sandwich, and Fettuccine Alfredo. None of those items in the list were not good. The BLT was dry, my reuben sandwich was just a hot mush, and the fettuccine alfredo had zero flavor (smelled like milk no cheese BIZARRE). Maybe my friends and I will stick to the good ol Pompton Queens Diner. read more

i LOVE this diner. Not only is the food always amazing but the owners are fantastic!!!! They know me by my first name, and basically know my order from memory !!! They make you feel so welcome when you come in ! I know they care so much for their customers because I'm here all the time and they know almost all their customers when they come up to pay! We are so happy to have this new diner open in town! It is the first week and they have been packed EVERY night! We had the mozzarella sticks and burgers. The burgers were thick and cooked exactly to order. The mozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and perfectly cheesy on the inside! We will be back again and again! read more

The food is great as well as the staff. The owners are very hands on. Most of all the food portions are huge! The size of just my side salad was bigger than most places entrees. I'll admit I was skeptical before going here because the last few previous owners didn't have great success but I'm glad we gave it a chance. Also, bonus points for being local. Typical local diner, always busy. Took us about 20 min to get a seat for the four of us. The Cuban sandwich I ordered was ok, nothing special. We had to request utensils and we didn't have plates for the bread. Overall, average on most things. Good place when you're in pinch and don't want to travel far. read more

We ate here once to try it weeks ago when it first opened. Food was decent, portions average to generous, wait staff ok, price fair. The burgers were decent,corned beef platter, and chicken finger platter ok. Overall food was average. Nothing homemade about coleslaw or fries. The owner made us wait a while to check out as she was talking to another customer at counter. No acknowledgement of us or I will be right there comment . Nobody else stepped up to offer to check us out quicker in restaurant, wait staff and bus staff all looked at us almost frozen and helpless. Maybe, only owner was allowed to ring up, but first impressions were everything and I left feeling service wasn't on point and maybe we ordered the wrong thing,but food was average. I am willing to try them again. Perhaps Breakfast will be better. The skillets look good....Ok so went back today a few hours ago. Apparently owner checks his reviews often as a good owner should. He told me he read my review and appreciated it. I appreciated he read it, and food was better today. The recipe was changed for the chicken fingers making them more crispy and my daughter who never eats the entire finger, but around them usually, cleaned her entire plate. The South-West Breakfast Skillet I ordered was very good. I would try another skillet that they have again. The desert "cakes" and coffee were decent too! The service on its own was very good, and waitress was very nice and accommodating. The owner Peter was walking around too, very visible to everyone assisting the tables too. Things seemed to flow better today. Upon checkout too, the other owner checked me out right away and was pleasant. I will be a return customer. I wish the owner(s) continued success. Now open, the Lakeside diner offers an extensive NEW menu. We were happy with the numerous breakfast selections including three breakfast skillets, numerous wraps and omelets. I ordered the Denver Skillet which was brought to our table on a sizzling hot plate. My wife ordered the eggs Parisian. Both dishes were terrific and this was a very good first impression. This place is adorably decorated and very clean! Our waitress was so sweet, the food was great and the dessert was amazing. I definitely would come back here if I ever ended up in the area again. The only reason I cannot give this place 5 stars is because the fluorescent lighting was very overwhelming. We ended up unscrewing our lightbulb while we were there because it was way too much. Also, the Buffalo chicken wrap had lettuce on one side, chicken on the other. It was too half and half to but this is a thing most diners do. read more

The staff is always very attentive, the hostess is very kind and not hesitate to help serve customers and the owner is always available to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. Always disappointing. We just dropped 60 bucks (tip included) on 2 salads and 2 kids meals. Salads were mediocre at best and worth 6 bucks tops...not $13 . Waitress was so miserable. My wife was supposed to get a soup and desert, we realized afterwards she never got those with her meal. Yet somehow we spent double what we would have spent at Oakland Diner, and got half the quality of service and food. This place is trash! read more

Decided to give this place a shot since its re opened. Very good aesthetics, sat down at the bar. Waitresses looked a bit flustered but expected because the place was busy. Sat there for 5 minutes before the waitress said she'd be right with me. Two other workers come out from the back and are just standing there looking around talking to eachother while their coworker is struggling and yelling about walking out. 10 min go by and have not yet placed my order. Then the gentlemen who I guess is the manager comes out from the back and sees that I have a Starbucks cup since I was just finishing my coffee. Instead of asking what I'd like to order, starts to tell me that next time don't bring that in there. I stood up and mentioned that I was just finishing it and that no one had even asked me if I wanted anything to drink. Pretty disappointed. I just got up and left. Terrible service. As someone who has lived in New Jersey for 19 years now, I have been to a plethora of diners all over the state and to be completley honest, I wasn't a huge fan of many. Most diners in New Jersey left me disappointed with their weak coffee, bad service and leather-like burgers. However, Lakeside Diner is a diner unlike any other one I've ever been to. The service is always lovely, the food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is great as well. The waitresses are always polite and professional, yet friendly at the same time. Each time that I've came in, the owner has gone out of his way to come and check up on us to be sure everything is up to par. As good as the service is, the real reason Lakside is so amazing is the food. I have yet to have a bad meal there. I recommend getting one of the skillets for breakfast; they're probably my favorite thing on the entire menu. Additionally, the Greek salad is one of the best that I've ever had, highly reccomend it. All in all, I couldn't be happier with all of my experiences with Lakeside. They have a customer for life in me. read more

Ordered take out on Sunday afternoon. It was the worst dinner i every experienced. Me and my wife ordered the char broil steak and caramelized onions. It wasn't steak. It was ground beef flatten out like a steak. Ordered onion rings look like they were freezer burned all the batter was chipping off and they were soggy. Supposed to get chipotle sauce with it . None. Ordered French fries. They were all tiny pieces. Looks like it was bottom of the bag. Ordered a BLT. There was more tomato and lettuce than bacon. The bacon was precooked not regular and there was 4 tiny slices. It was on soggy rye bread. Plus it was stuffed inside a small container, not wrapped in foil. Wanted a baked potato. They said you can't get one until after 3pm. What kind of crap is that. Your telling me that the potato truck don't come until 3pm. The 16oz soups used to come in nice plastic containers. Now they come in these card board containers and only 14oz . I measured it in a measuring cup. The Lakeside Diner has become so cheap. And the quality of food is bad. I would never ever again step foot in that diner again. read more
