Awesome little spot in Pompton. Quick to be seated (we got there around 2pm). Drinks and food out timely and hot! Staff was friendly and polite but seemed to be in a rush. I knocked off one star because there were items on the menu they didn't have and our waitress spoke fast making it hard to understand her. Minor stuff but Yelp doesn't allow half stars. We would return for sure!

Love this place! This place is popular for the local high schoolers as a whole crowd of them stormed in right after I was seated. Great diner food!! Definitely check out this place if you're in town and craving an omelet! Staff are great and friendly. Food arrived pretty quickly. The diner staff and cook appear to work well together, very efficient, as they quick clean up tables and prepare for the next customers. Place takes credit cards. Metered street parking is available.

Gladys is the best! All the service there is so on point. The new location is beautiful inside but the food is still phenomenal, this place is great for a quick lunch or a catch up with friends, my only complaint is they're not 24:7 because I would be here all the time.

A friend and I were looking for a good brunch spot last Saturday, and after seeing the good reviews the Cardinal Cafe had, we decided to check it out. It's on the main strip on Hamburg turnpike so nearby street parking is limited. Fortunately, there is parking behind all of the shops in the strip. If you're going to park there beware: the only way behind the shops is a one way street and it's really difficult to see if anyone else is coming. There is also a very steep hill you have to go down (and climb back up, so if you're eating with someone who's a little older I suggest dropping them off first) and there aren't really spots, just space where you can park by the river. As we walked in we saw it was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. When the waitress asked for our drinks I asked for iced coffee and she informed me that they don't have iced coffee this time of year, which I found odd. Then, as we looked at the menu I was feeling like eggs benedict but couldn't see it on the menu. When I asked the waitress she said they don't make eggs benedict (which I found super strange considering they advertise "eggs any way"). Anyway, I ended up getting a western omelet with egg whiltes. Presentation is clearly lacking but the food was tasty. As far as service goes, it started out as very attentive but got worse as the meal progressed. The hostess did call on customers by name, so it was cool to see that they take the time to know their regulars, but for outsiders like my friend and I it was very underwhelming. Overall, I'd call it average.

This is my favorite breakfast spot in the area, i'm just surprised it took that long to find them but after the butler diner failing again and again and other restaurants not opening early enough I stumbled upon this place I have to give Gladys (owner) and her kitchen a lot of props because they are very consistent. Great corned beef hash, great omelets and even the breakfast sandwiches are loaded, and try the chocolate chip pancakes! I have not yet experienced the rudeness that other reviewers are stating but that's maybe because I always order take out and never eat inside, but I will note it's VERY loud in there they got those big ass ceilings LoL parking is tough too but I have yet to have a bad meal here I will post more photos next time.

Overpriced and she makes up her prices. If the sandwich is 8.50 it shouldn't go up to 11.50 if I wanted a wrap. And 11.50 for less then 6oz of chicken with mozz and lettuce. Cmon abusivo

Some of the pastries are literally imported from Italy, and the rest? Handmade by the baristas themselves like it's just a normal Tuesday. No hype, no speech, no "wait till you try this" they just slide you something life changing and move on with their day. The homemade pastries (like the one in the pic) are criminally good. Flaky, buttery, dusted with powdered sugar. One bite and you're mad this isn't closer to your house. This is NOT your "let me rearrange my croissant for Instagram" type of place. No neon signs, no latte art shaped like a swan having an identity crisis. And they don't need any of that. The coffee is legit, the imported pastries are elite, and the homemade stuff is on another level. Quality is doing all the talking here. I come here most mornings and the baristas are cool people, efficient, friendly, and not forcing small talk when you clearly haven't had caffeine yet (huge win). Only downside: the storefront blends in way too much with the other shops. This place deserves to stand out. Solution? Simple. Hang a big Italian flag outside. Problem solved. If you know, you know. And if you don't... more pastries for the rest of us

I absolutely loved the idea and the overall vibe of the cafe. That said, we came specifically for coffee and mochi donuts, and unfortunately those fell a bit short. The coffee was just okay, and the mochi donuts weren't great - ours tasted on the staler side, which was disappointing. Overall, I really think this place has a lot of potential. The service is great and the concept is very unique for this area, and with some improvements to the quality and freshness of the food and drinks, it could easily become a go-to spot. Worth checking out for the aesthetic, but I'm hoping the menu catches up to how cool the space is.

Great for meeting up with friends, maybe even small groups (depending on the size of the group). I ordered a coffee and scone. The scone was not too sweet, which I really liked! They clearly use real ingredients and don't oversweeten recipes, which is comfortable to digest. The scone was a bit dry and hard and didn't give the flare of flavor I was hoping for-- I'd ordered a Mexican chocolate scone and wanted to taste deep smoky chocolate and spice. The flavor was much milder and middle of the road. I saved most of it but ate it over the next couple days. Tasted better once the flavors set in I guess. The coffee was just aiight though. I a huge coffee fanatic so this one hit home. Wasn't bad by any means, but didn't spark my soul either. I explore lots of vegan and GF places, and if you're in the area, do go check them out.
