Love this brunch place. For a span of several months last year, we had a recurring pattern where…read morewe would eat at Willow and Whisk, and while seated at our table enjoying our amazing food, we would make our next reservation to dine again at Willow and Whisk two months later. (Reservations are not that easy to make last minute.) The restaurant is big and open but always busy. Kids get wax craft sticks to play with and bend into cool shapes, which I find very unique and cool. I feel like there is a difference between a diner and a true brunch place. A diner, of which there are numerous in New Jersey, is a establishment that churns out inexpensive, and potentially excellent, but very standard breakfast food - omelettes, pancakes, benedicts and the like. A true brunch place, on the other hand, offers things like lemon ricotta pancakes, cacio e pepe scrambles, mushroom thyme omelettes and shakshuka. Willow & Whisk is that kind of brunch place, and which is rare in New Jersey. The food options are varied, very tasty, and with good portion sizes. I love the shakshuka and the mushroom thyme omelette. Oh gosh, when is our next reservation again?

I really want to love this place but it's always disappointed me. It's beautiful and the food is…read moretasty but trying it again today was a bit of a last straw for me. I asked if I could do 2% milk with my latte at 8am with only 1 other table in the restaurant. Waitress told me it's whole or skim. I asked if she could mix them, half and half. She said it takes too long for the bartenders... I said "there's 2 people here, mind if you make an exception?" To which she followed up with "no, it's a rule." Okay fine... I'll settle for my $7 latte I guess. Following that, I ordered the mushroom thyme omelette, the second bite I took had a full on hard stick from the thyme I almost choked on (not chewy, hard - see pictures). I decided to let it slide, these things happen with fresh herbs. 2 more bites in, another massive stem stick jabbed me. If I had given my daughter either of those bites, it could have been scary. I sent it back. I love their coffee, and the shukshukka (botching the spelling). But for how much you pay, their service is inconsistent and these errors are painful (literally). I'll likely come back for the coffee and vibes but won't be bending over backwards to do brunch here.

I picked out my latte and went to the counter only to discover that they cannot make lattes decaf :-( I was so excited to try the Tiramisu latte but couldn't. I got the meatball sandwich which was very good and the coffee cronut. I loved the cronut but would definitely get a plain one next time because there was so much filling. I liked that they give you a buzzer to wait for your food. The staff was very nice. And it's a cute walk up window. Like I mentioned I couldn't get any espresso drink decaf which is the only reason why I took off a star. Maybe they will include that in the future.

In any case, visited The Saucy Cup around 9:45AM to a small but totally doable line. Actually -- no line even, because most of the people were still deciding what to order which left the "Order Here" window completely empty for me to swoop in. After briefly glancing at the menu, I decided on getting both a food and drink item: for food, I got the 4 Cheese Quiche and for drink, the wonderfully titled Caramel Miso Iced Latte. First, the quiche: it is not a quiche, lol - it's a buttery and flaky pastry with a cheesy quiche-like middle, with a subtle onion flavor as well. It is served with a pink sauce -- and after trying it, the base is definitely ketchup and mayonnaise. It tasted very good, for being a quichessant. Second, the caramel miso latte: if you are a Dulce de leche or a salted caramel fan -- this is your jam. It doesn't have the same level of saltiness as those flavors often have, but it carried an appropriate amount of umami/savoriness. I give it the Asian compliment: "Not too sweet" -- which for a caramel drink is a rare find altogether. The Saucy Cup is a locally-owned business leaving their mark in Wayne -- stop by (preferably a weekday) to try them out! P.S: Only 7-8 parking spots! May you find parking when you visit!

Great for meeting up with friends, maybe even small groups (depending on the size of the group). I ordered a coffee and scone. The scone was not too sweet, which I really liked! They clearly use real ingredients and don't oversweeten recipes, which is comfortable to digest. The scone was a bit dry and hard and didn't give the flare of flavor I was hoping for-- I'd ordered a Mexican chocolate scone and wanted to taste deep smoky chocolate and spice. The flavor was much milder and middle of the road. I saved most of it but ate it over the next couple days. Tasted better once the flavors set in I guess. The coffee was just aiight though. I a huge coffee fanatic so this one hit home. Wasn't bad by any means, but didn't spark my soul either. I explore lots of vegan and GF places, and if you're in the area, do go check them out.
