The store had been completely reorganized since the last time I was in so I couldn't find anything I was looking for on my own. Fortunately there were workers circulating the store offering help to guide me to the new location of the items I needed. I went in for some classroom supplies and I was excited to find items I needed on sale. The service was great and I love to feel like I'm getting a deal. There was a "buy one get one half off" deal going on and I didn't know, but I also had points which took $15 dollars off my order. Wow. Super grateful for all those deals and the cashier was happy to put me in the loop. I'll definitely be back soon for more cute and practical classroom swag! read more

Lakeshore Learning Store - Toy Stores Near Me - Roseville, California

My wife got a gift card to the Lakeshore Learning Store which was great as she just transitioned as a pre-school teacher at a new school, so there is a shortage of supplies and some supplies that was ordered had not come in yet. This store is know by teachers for educational supplies, tools, toys, etc. browsing through the store with my wife, it seems like most of the stuff geared towards elementary school kids, particularly the younger kids. There is seems to be a nice selection of items and educational aids throughout the store. My wife was able to easily spend the $50 gift card and then about $38 on top of that. If you sign up for their email list, they will give you a free store branded reusable bag. The employees seem very nice. It was a pleasant store to shop in. I'm sure my wife will want to come back sometime in the near future to purchase more stuff. We live closer to Walnut Creek, so next time, we may try going to that location to see if there are more items not available at this store. read more

Today I'm disappointed. This place is not friendly today. I had two oversized items that didn't fit in the cart (I had to lay it flat on top of the cart), and when I walked through the door the workers just stood there. No one offered to help me with the doors or bring the items in, but instead I got a faint "hello". When I got up to the counter, Kendra is at the register, not smiling. While trying to get my return, she walks away and talks to another person, so I ask if she needed me card for the return. She just says, "I'll be right with you ma'am." Weird, because I thought she was helping me. I finally get the stuff from off the cart and put it on the ground. She than asks for my card and to move the stuff under the counter to her. You haven't done anything to help and now you want me to push the heavy boxes to you? Sure. What else can I do for you, Kendra? Usually this place is friendly and the energy is great. Prices are a bit high for me sometime, but I always seem to leave with something great for my classroom or son. This one bad experience won't keep me away, but I certainly why shy away from coming back a different day if I have to enter an unhappy place. read more

I love Lakeshore! They always have innovative and wonderful teaching toys etc. that make shopping at this location fun. I tend to order from Lakeshore online but was able to stop into this Roseville location to pick up some items for one of my kids teachers. I actually prefer doing this as opposed to bringing other things to the classroom for the school. This gives the teacher the things they need, and the things the kids in the class need. If you work at a school/or an educator, they offer discounts! The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and they are happy to direct customers to items that meet a specific grade level need. Plus, they have really cool stuff that I wish my teachers had used when I was in school. They're open to the public so anyone and everyone can shop here. Are they pricey? Yes. But you also are getting quality versus quantity. Fun store to explore, and definitely if you are not an educator but looking for a gift for one, this is a great place to shop even for those holiday teacher gifts. read more

This place is extremely expensive. Expect $30-$40 dollars per schooling item. The staff is extremely unfriendly and ironically intolerant to children if you bring them with you. They have a nice selection of things but it is not worth the price. I'd rAther go to learning express down the street where they are super friendly and helpful but most importantly, reasonably priced. They tell you that yes they're expensive but they have coupons all the time. I signed up for the text coupons and they were so persistent and literally texted me EVERY DAY about a sale that week. I ended up stopping that. The persistent annoyance of the spam texting is not worth the coupon every once in a while to save 15% off one item. Their "clearance" section is subpar and if you look closely, the items are barely discounted at all. Maybe A dollar off for the clearance price. Will probably shop here once or twice a year. With places like this overcharging the customers, no wonder why Amazon is thriving. read more

This is a great store that has non flashy loud educational toys. I love how they also have art supplies. Definitely will shop here than on Amazon, everything is reasonably priced. I have plenty of friends who are educators, both current and retired so I get how this store works. For the general public however, you would think that if the merchandise was much pricier than other retail stores (not mainly geared toward educators) you would hope that their customer service would be on point. I waited patiently at the register for a long time while the cashier was at the front of the store rearranging things, I understand. A coworker walks through the front door (maybe from break), sees me standing there and yells to the cashier at the front of the store to help me and then walks into the backroom. No one came up to help, at that point I was just over it and walked out. I will just go across or down the street and pay 30% less for the exact same Melissa and Doug items and get 100% better customer service. read more

Great store for teaching supplies. I try not to spend too much money on teaching supplies anymore, since I've spent too much out of pocket in the last few years. But this time I needed some posters laminated, and we had run out of laminating film at school. I definitely didn't want to go back to Staples, who quoted me around $90 for my laminating project a few years back. Then someone suggested Lakeshore! That was the best idea ever! They charge very little for laminating (I think it's 20 cents a square foot?) so I ended up spending around $15 for my laminating project. Best place to laminate! read more

I like to come here and get educational books and accessories to supplement my school age daughter's learning. Their inventory is huge. You name it! They have it! Books, grade level workbooks, educational toys, wall decorations, art supplies, etc. The only downside is that some of their games and toys are a bit pricey. I chalk that up to a small market. They even have a poster laminating machine which we have used to laminate our daughters artwork. It's much cheaper than Kinkos. Every Saturday they have free art projects for children. read more

I am impressed each time I visit this store. The staff is ways helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. There are always interactive displays out for children and they also host free arts and crafts events occasionally. The learning products they sell are a little pricey however the quality is unsurpassed. My Lake shore products always last for years! We live no where near this place but we've been here a few times and it's a wonderful educational supplies store. My kids like the different educational toys they have here. I've gotten some of their learning "gears," puzzles, modeling clay, etc. and most of the teaching/learning materials are pretty reasonable but some of their uniquely designed toys are quite pricey. I also order online from them and they deliver within a reasonable time. They have seasonal sales like around back to school some of their items are discounted slightly but the discounts do add up when you buy a bunch of items. read more

I love that they offer teacher discounts when the only customers are probably teachers or homeschooling moms. Seems a little silly, but I love getting percentages off. The prices are a bit high on some of the toy foods and math blocks, but other items like wall decor tends to be priced ok. This place is pure heaven for any elementary school teacher. You walk in, and you see manipulatives galore, new and updated workbooks, a variety of lesson planners, borders, stickers, stamps, bells, arts and crafts, and so much more!! Ahhhh! I have spent hours in here and I still love it!! The service is excellent, and the employees pay attention to the little details (just like a teacher would)! ie: Since it's the holidays, the employees changed the tops of all the pens at the cashier to have Christmas trees and Santa beards. Cute!! I recently came here to laminate a class set poster sized pictures for holiday gifts for my students' families. I had called FexEx and Kinkos for a price and they charged about $3 PER poster (which would have been a total of $75 for laminating!) uhhh no thank you! I like this place. They offer FREE teacher workshops that tend to focus on ages infant through young school age. It's refreshing to get new ideas and draw from somebody whom works in a different program. Plus they always have a raffle. One time, I won a $10 gift card. Score! The con: SENSORY OVERLOAD and way too bright colors in this store. There is research out there that indicates bright colored toys and materials creative impulsive behaviors and sensory overload. It sort of bums me out that this store is painted in them and that many of their toys are just the same. They do have really cool stuff such as more natural like things from Melissa & Doug. I just wish they had more of a selection of more naturalistic toys. Some really cool stuff but most of the things are kind of pricey, at least for my pocket. I'll still continue to shop here after workshops (whenever I go) and will be excited whenever I find toned down naturalistic toys. read more

Each time I go in they know exactly what I need and give me info on the best selling product that would fill my need and also a few of the other products to make sure I get what's best for my little guy. Pros: Clean, organized, good customer service, plenty of parking and a clean restroom. Cons: The prices seem steep especially if the price tag is geared for teachers. Yikes. Holy crap! My mother teaches 3rd grade and this was like her walking into heaven. She was thrilled at the massive selection of teaching supplies. As The Report Card fades out this place is as far as I know the only game in town and I wish they would build one in either Sacramento or Elk Grove. The prices are high but the selection is well worth it. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Anything you need that isn't in store can be quickly ordered. It's an excellent resource for teachers and home schoolers alike. read more

I'm going to go ahead and give this 2 stars because I thoroughly enjoy coming to this store at the beginning of every school year. However, I had my first negative experience in this store today. While picking up an order I was helped by an extremely patient and helpful employee. She could not help me any further without asking one of her co-workers a very simple question. I was completely blindsided when (upon assumption) her manager, Erica, came bolting around the corner and began loudly reprimanding her for asking her co-worker a question. The poor employee was clearly embarrassed by her "manager's" actions and began profusely apologizing to me. She didn't get to finish her apology before Erica turned around and scolded her for not helping the next person in line (there was no one in line). Erica then brings the order out to me and she asked how many books were supposed to be there. I give her the number and she then began to scold me because she would still need to count them. I was simply trying to let her know how many I needed, just in case there were not enough in the pile. I will continue to shop at Lakeshore simply because it is the only teacher store in the area. I truly feel sorry for the way the employee was treated today and how awkward the other customers must have felt while Erica was reprimanding her employee in front of them. read more
