No frills sort of place, and the place is a little awkward to get in to since it's just after an odd little T intersection. Been here for my regular oil changes and changing out some brake pads. They're pretty solid with their work, and gives it to you straight about your car. Just before Irma hit, I blew out a tire hitting a nail on the highway. Lakes patched up my tire even though they were battening down the hatches and about to close. Didn't even charge me for it. Good people. read more

I absolutely recommend this place! They are super courteous, honest and dedicated. I went in to have my rear breaks changed and they explained everything to me. I had a little issue with the caliper and they called me over to the car to make sure I understood what was going on. They ordered the part and had it in swiftly. Came here to get my tires rotated and aligned. The estimate was less than the chain tire stores in the area. Most importantly, the service was quick and easy and everything was as I was told it would be on the phone. No one tried to up sell me or add additional services. This is an owner operated business which is what I prefer. I suggest to call ahead as they do get very busy. Nothing but a great experience with Lakes Auto Center! I am a student from Coral Gables area and I brought my car in to have an axle replaced. I bought the part myself and after they installed it and found it was defective, they called around to find a new part, scheduled immediate delivery, finished the job in the same day AND did not even charge me for the extra labor hours. Family business, very honest. They are also top of the line mechanics. They have always given me a very reasonable price. The first time I met them, many years ago, I had taken my Lexus to several different mechanics, and they wanted to charge me anywhere from $3,500. to $4,000., dollars, to fix black smoke coming from the muffler. I went to Lakes Auto Center, as a last resort, and they told me that they would check it out. I was astonish, that they were charging me only $350. From then on I was sold with their honesty. I had been taking my car to my regular mechanic for years but was frustrated that my car kept having issues starting and was literally completely shutting down while I was stopped in the middle of traffic. My regular mechanic could not figure out the problem and had basically given up on my car. I searched online and saw that Lakes Auto Center had great reviews. When my car shut down again, I had it towed to Lakes Auto Center. It took them two days of hard work and investigating but they found the problem and completely resurrected my 18 year old Jeep Cherokee. I was stressed out at the possibility of having to get a new car but thank God that Manny and his crew were able to completely fix the problem and now my car has been running perfectly for over a month. Manny, who is the manager and I believe the owner (not sure) is extremely kind and I found him to be VERY FAIR regarding the price that he charged me. He easily could have charged me a lot more. Not only did I find him and the Lakes Auto Center staff to be very kind and HONEST, but they did a fantastic job on my car and took away all the car headaches I had been having.
