Omggggg what a gem in Syracuse. This winery was PERFECT for my husband and I . We visited today, a Saturday around 1:30 pm. The atmosphere was very chill, relaxing and Natyia out host was Awesome, she definitely added that spark to our experience. Natyia was very fun, kind and informative of all the wines we tasted . We paid $12 per person and got 15 tastings (you can't beat that). We did 2 rounds which was 30 tastings per person. I purchased 2 wine glasses and 2 bottles of wine as well, decently priced at $15 and $16 dollars each . I will be visiting again for my bday to actually make wine, as they offer that experience as well. If ever your in Syracuse this winery is a must visit. I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

Came on a Saturday at 2pm to try their wines. Open sign was not only on but flashing. Door was open and unlocked. Upon entering was told they were having a private party and we were turned away. Maybe put a sign on door, or turn off open sign, or close door. Waste of time. Ended up going to a fantastic brewery instead. read more

Did a wine tasting party recently and I just want to say Thank you to Andy and Janette . My group had a ton of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed the wine. We also were able to see just how the wine is made and bottled which was great . I have been to some big wineries and in comparison I have to say that Lakeland is so much more friendly ,hospitable and customer orientated. Not to mention that the wine they make is absolutely fantastic . BLUF I needed to make an appt. to redeem a gift certificate. The main voice message at the winery suggests you call the owner's cell for this very reason. When I did this the owner seemed putout that I was calling. He explained, in a manner that implied I am an idiot, that I could be using the Internet / his website instead. I am very computer savvy, but the steps for the process of obtaining an appt. via the website are not at all clear and straight forward on the winery's website. I am giving two stars for terrible customer interaction. I reserve the right to change this review after the gift certificate has been used on site. IN DEPTH Background: Having received a make your own wine gift certificate on Christmas for this establishment, I need to find out more information about how to make an appt. Lakeland Winery is a fun and unique place with a cozy atmosphere. There are a few things you can do there: Wine Tasting Parties: For $5 per person, you get up to 20 wine tastings. Bring 2 to 30 people! Bring food and beverages if desired. Wine Making Parties are limited to 90 minutes. Wine Making Parties: Sit down and enjoy a wine tasting of a variety of wines in which you feel you would be interested in making. Pick the wine you want, go to the wine making room and put together your wine! Wine tasting process takes about 30 - 45 minutes, while the wine making takes another 15 minutes. Your wine is then taken care of for 7 weeks by the winery's winemakers; come back in 7 weeks to bottle your very own wine! You can even create your own labels. I tasted this wine at a wine event in Long Island NY. Everybody at the booth were personable and nice. Even more importantly the wine was SLAMMING. I mean it was really delicious. Everything I tried I liked and I liked the next wine more than the last. I bought 4 bottles on the spot, not something I normally do. Well I do not regret it! Sometimes at these wine events your palette can get worn out and the wine you bought isn't so great when you get it home. Not with Lakeland Winery...it is finery. I'm glad they sell online because I will certainly be ordering because I am polishing off the whole bottle with ease. Keep up the good work! read more

Full disclosure. I did not taste any wines, but not because I didn't want to. I stopped by this winery at a wine festival with about 5 friends. We were refused samples because we did not have the festival glass with us. We brought our own plastic glasses with us for safety reasons. The women working the booth had very negative attitudes and were very nasty/rude. We were not denied any samples at any other booth and we felt not welcomed at this specific booth. We have a wine tour planned next month and we will make it a point not to visit this winery. read more

We will be making our own wine in a few weeks! Andy and his staff are very helpful in answering any questions you have about the process and all that is involved. YES, you do have to make an appointment online to reserve a spot to make your wine. But you do not need one to stop in and sample the 20+ wines they have to offer. $5 for a full list of samples is a great deal. We helped friends make wine for their wedding this past fall and the process was very organized and professional. The cost for making your own wine is very reasonable depending on the type you like. Each batch makes about 30 .750ml bottles. Prices start at around $165 per batch and goes up from there depending on your taste. I attended the fingerlakes wine festival this year, and could not believe how rude the women working this table were to customers. There was very little interaction between them and the tasters, they did not smile, and looked so unhappy to be there. One pourer looked beyond annoyed as a taster was trying to decide which wine to try and took a few seconds to decide. I watched this happen with a friend and we decided to walk away from the booth before getting any samples. We were having too good of a time to deal with grumpy people. We will be sure to skip this table every year we go! read more

If you are in the Syracuse area and are considering a wine making at Lakeland "Winery," I do not recommend it. Our winemaking was only fun because of the people who were there, and I have had nothing but problems with the owner and their calendar. The owner has been very unprofessional both via email and on the phone with me, constantly sounds as though I am a bother to him, and I am less than impressed with the experience as a whole. I am so glad it was a GROUPON and that we did not pay full value for anything that we are getting because it would very much be overpriced. If you are a looking for a real wine making experience with knowledgeable and professional people, I recommend going elsewhere. read more
