There's a lot of outdoor tables and chairs, which offer some AMAZING views of the hills. These, like anything in CNY, are weather-dependent. It was a cold fall day, so we didn't spend too much time outside. I went with a bourbon maple cider, which was DELICIOUS. Probably my favorite (i'm not a huge cider guy). My wife got the flight, which had a lot of solid options. It was roughly $30 for that, which is a bit steep in my opinion. The general store area has a good variety of things ranging from cheeses and sauces to ice cream/other B&S products. I wish they had more Ayrloom products available, but that's okay. Everything is reasonably priced, but definitely on the pricier end depending on what it is. We didn't get anything to eat this time around, but i'd say their food is so-so. Nothing has ever really been amazing, but if you need a bite while with the family, or to soak up some of the alcohol, it is convenient, but can be pricey. Our main goal was to get a bag of apples (we think their apple picking rates are a little steep), and the bag was decently full. As a tip, i'd sign up for their rewards (it's fittingly called "apples") because they add up quick, and you can get some money off your purchases. Another note is the parking. The place partners with the sheriff's office to direct traffic, which helps, but it definitely feels unorganized at times.

We spent over 30 minutes in the back touring the distillery and having a great discussion with Vince. The love and passion Vince has for his spirits is infectious and certainly shows in his distillery, tasting room, and of course the spirits. How cool is it to have a private tasting with the distiller at a cool unique mythical place? If you enjoy whiskeys you must stop here. My wife doesn't even care much for liquor but she had a fabulous time and enjoyed tasting all their varieties. Didn't get a slushie but they sounded great! We did do a full tasting of all their whiskeys, shine, and brandy. There's a flavor for just about everyone. We really enjoyed talking about the flavor notes of each spirit with Vince and his thought on what was his inspiration and goal for each of them. If you are looking for small craft spirits you really must stop here. Vince has incredible standards and his love of distilling really shines. Don't bother with the sampler, dive right into the largest one they offer. You probably won't be the one driving back at that point. These are outstanding! Inside the gift shop you'll be astounded by the array of dragon themed trinkets and gifts. Even the restroom holds its own uniqueness. Main Street was my Grandfathers home- Seitz family - this is now part of the Catholic Church) before my Grandfather became a Marine and ended up in Quantico , VA. Lock 1 was a perfect location to pop on in, right by the bridge, to grab a drink and snacks. The appetizers were delicious - we ordered the pretzel, loaded salt potatoes, and tacos. All were impressively good and so filling! We had a great server, very attentive, young guy, sadly I can't recall his name but he was wonderful! We also bought two bottles of Ryze Vodka to bring back home in memory of the location (Phoenix) that started a love affair of two young adults and ultimately created a storybook of family memories from New York to Virginia! The Good: The history of the John Alden designed schooner is worth reading before you go. We had some more "salty" members of our group that recognized the name of the schooner from the 1956 movie "High Society" starring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and after that we were on board for a wonderful time. We even were seated in the seats once occupied by Gene and Bing. We purchased our tickets after being approached by Terry who negotiated a decent price with us because he wanted a full boat for the next trip. Captain Bill was an experienced Captain and is well known in the area. He got us underway and was a delightful host regaling us with stories about the "True Love", Seneca Lake and surroundings, as well as, some stories about racing the "True Love" and his crew, Spencer and Marena. Captain Bill even assisted another sailing boat that was in distress and precariously close to the lake edge. The trip was two hours long and on time. The crew served non-alcoholic and adult beverages (some free, some for a price) while underway and also sold some souvenirs (Whisky and glasses). The Bad: There was nothing bad, from start to finish, this was a very enjoyable trip and the crew definitely enjoyed sharing their love of the "Trie Love" with the joyful passengers. The Ugly: Absolutely nothing other than we could not be out for longer. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen, this is definitely an enjoyable to kick back, relax, and let the wind fill your sails.
