This place is fantastic. Super friendly owners/employees, and they will help with everything. No horrible long lines, clerks that move as slowly as possible, weird smells, and mean signs that say, "We Do Not Offer Free Tape". It's a little pricier, but so worth it in my opinion. After being disappointed with Eastlake Mail, my partner and I both went to Lake Union Mail and were more than happy with the service we received. During the busy Christmas gift sending season we quickly wrapped two packages and scrambled down to LUM to ship them off. Not only was the staff helpful and friendly (even during the hustle and bustle of the season), but they weighed & measured our packages and re-packaged them in a larger box to save us money. Everything we sent arrived on time too. Their hours are great too - they are open until 6 on weekdays, so you can still catch them after work. An extra bonus is when their adorable dog is there to greet you. read more

I had heard great things of Lake Union Mail, and it always looks so inviting when I walk by, so I decided to give it a go recently. I dropped off two graduate school applications to be mailed with USPS delivery confirmation. I was told that they would put my sealed envelopes into fixed-rate USPS envelopes to save money, and that I would get my tracking numbers via email. They rang up my transaction, I thanked them, and left. My mistake... I did receive an email with tracking numbers, as well as the destination information. The (albeit friendly) people at Lake Union Mail somehow made several errors in addressing my fixed-rate envelopes. I now have an application on its way to the competitive "INSTITUE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS OFFICE OF STUFENT AFFAIRS", and another going to NORTHERN UNIVERSITY (is there even such a place? It's supposed to be Northeastern University). Luckily, I am aware of the errors they made. My original envelopes were addressed properly, so I can contact the schools and let them know what's up. I suppose I should have insisted on addressing them myself, but it appeared their process was to take over and type it all in a computer system while I paid and left. Bottom line: If you are mailing something important and/or professional, DON"T let them do it. Insist on doing it yourself, or go elsewhere! I hate to deter support of a local business, but when it comes down to it, they really made me look bad when I counted on professional, competent service. read more

This is hands down the best business I have ever worked with. I just returned from a deployment to Afghanistan where I was unable to receive any business related mail. Jules, set up a box for me, held my mail and is working to now forward all of my mail to my new duty station. I could not be any happier with the service Mr. James has provided me with and I can't wait to meet him in person. Jules defines customer service. i had my PMB at Lake Union Mail for over 10 years, and only changed because I could not justify driving across town anymore, although I did it for over 2 years. (They are that good.) 1. Convenient- pull up, double park, get mail, grab a cuppa Jo at Luisa's 2. Friendly- Always know you, habits, and hepful 3. Reasonable Rate- with service. They do everything for you if you need. 4. Politically Savvy- Always game for a "spirited debate" on local issues, but not contrary. Jules even puts out a "things you should know" sheet, before elections, if you have been on the road too long and missed the local scene. 5. Great Conversations are a staple of their trade. I have gotten into long discussions about many things at Lake Union Mail. They become part of your sphere of friends. 6. The folks at Lake Union Mail are probably less the 6 degrees of separation than most people, because they know everyone. I've only been once, and it wasn't for shipping or mail or anything; I was in a bind and I needed something printed out real quick. The staff was friendly enough, not super welcoming, but not mean or rude. They said they do do printing, and printed it out immediately, which was nice, but I felt like it was a bit pricey for one 2-page document, black and white. And they didn't ask if I wanted it printed double-sided or any other specifications. That costed $1.10, which I know is small beans, but I could have probably gotten it done way cheaper anywhere else. read more

For personalized, professional mailing services, Lake Union Mail was a real joy to deal with. We had a PMB box at LUM for over 13 years, and only closed it because we moved away. They are sorely missed. We spent most of our time outside the US, and were able to have our mail stored, forwarded, shipped to onward locations, etc. Jules and the crew at LUM are knowledgable about all types of shipping needs, they're fun and energetic, and they'll figure out how to solve your shipping problems if they don't immediately know.
