Holy eardrums... food is actually very good but don't come here if you aren't wanting to scream at each other to have a conversation. Loved the atmosphere/vibe the patio did get buggy into the night the food was okay not great but not terrible. Our server was friendly and was on it for the most part but the closer it got to close she barely checked up on us. We did have servers try to give us other tables food more then once. My biggest opinion is to have the servers start getting use to take empty plates and glasses off the table when they are dropping the new to keep table clean I had to ask a couple of times and they would still only clear what I asked and not the whole tables. read more

I gave it 2 stars because the location and our waiter, Thomas. Other than that, don't waste your time. The food here was awful. My bbq chicken was so overcooked. I couldn't imagine a chef sending that out of their kitchen!! BUT, they did and it wasn't just mine that was burnt to a crisp, the table behind us also sent back their bbq chicken. Someone spent a bunch of money to make this place resemble a school cafeteria. Unfortunately it sounds like one too. The noise actually increases as diners boost their volume trying to speak with table mates. The service was adequate however we would have ordered another round of drinks if the server was more attentive. Slow service was not the server's fault, there was plenty of help. Food and drink orders take an unusual amount of time. We were a party of six and ordered brisket quesadilla and chips with guacamole and salsa for appetizers. This was enough for the table. Both were good. Chips were warm and queso was tasty. Entrees included pulled chicken tacos, brisket tacos, ground beef tacos and salad bowls. The table unanimously declared the tacos resembled cardboard. All fillings were tasteless except the chicken. The salad people finished their meals while the others ate only one or two tacos and quit. We were profoundly disappointed. This is a shame as we all enjoy Back 40 and was hoping for a similar experience. read more

We're visiting for a soccer tournament and we were looking for a kid friendly place nearby. From the hostess to the waiters and waitresses, everyone was super nice. The food was delicious with an ample choice. Since it was raining we were sitting inside and a band was playing. We had to adjust to the noise level but we did enjoy the band. I was served a drink in a glass that had a lipstick stain and also had other stains on the side that made it very clear my glass was dirty. We pointed out the lipstick to the waitress and she apologized and said she'd have the bartender make me a new one. I get things happen so I was fine with having a new drink made. Only issue is the waitress returned very quickly which made it obvious the drink had not been remade. I looked at the glass and it was obvious it was the same. Her or the bartender had just wiped off the lipstick and served me the same drink in the same dirty glass. I could tell because the other stains on the side of the glass were still there and the area where the lipstick had been was wet and you could see the mark from where they had just wiped that one area off with something. Had the drink actually been remade and I was served a new drink in a clean glass all would be good because mistakes happen but I won't be returning because it's very clear this place doesn't care about being hygienic. read more

I wish I had a noise decibel machine and noise cancelling headphones! I have never been in a restaurant that loud! Our party of six was seated a two round tables kind of joined together even though there were plenty of empty tables that would have been a better choice. Service was ok, food was mediocre at best. We had reservations for 1 o'clock for 10 people. My daughter and I were the first to arrive and the Front Desk couldn't find the reservation. So they set us up at 4 small round tables and when the others in our party arrived this did not work out well as some people were straddling 2 tables. The Menu was very limited. A few of us had eaten there at other time and found you had many more meals to select from. Also service very, very slow. The place was not really that full, could have been a shortage of help. Had to ask someone where are food was. It really wasn't worth waiting 45 minutes for it. I had pulled pork with potatoes and mac& cheese. These were good. The pork was tasteless, had big chunks in it and dripping water. My companions also said that their food wasn't that great. Also the Restaurant is very noisy. Couldn't hear what others were saying unless the were right next to us. Yes, the view of the Lake was very nice but I don't think I will return again. read more

We just had our daughter's first communion party (Cinco de Mayo) there and it was fabulous! Gina, one of the owners was more than amazing! You can't go wrong with the party packages and the food is delicious. We had all you can eat taco, nachos and churro bars. The package also included salad, soda and juice. We even had great music. The customer service was beyond 100%. We are regulars there during the week and we're pretty sure we would have a great celebration there. This party was PERFECT and the waitress was extremely accommodating. I highly recommend going out to eat there or having a private function. 5 stars, no doubt! read more

Went at 4:30 on a Thursday, figured try it out. Gringo tacos really had no flavor, enchilada bowl looked like something you put together with little effort in your own kitchen. Chips and queso came out AFTER our food. Margaritas were great and view was nice from anywhere in the place. Personally, I think the food was overpriced. Wanted to try the churro dessert to make up for the meal but we didn't see our waitress for literally 40 minutes and once I could flag down another one to get her she never apologized and gave attitude like it was our fault...so that was a wrap. Should've stuck to Taco Bell for the food and this place for drinks. read more

The place has clean inviting look to it. The drinks were excellent! The nachos were really good with big portions and lots of toppings. The main course was just ok. I had the pulled chicken tacos and while the chicken was tasty the taco itself needed a sauce as it was dry. Biggest issue was noise. It was very loud because its such an open space. "Fake Taco" is a better name for this. Went for Thursday night country line dancing which was great! Service was good, place was fun looking and had good vibes, but, the tacos were awful. Tortillas were confusingly bad, gritty, and not heated at all. Chicken was extremely dry. Some of the food came out cold and had to go back. They serve the tacos on teensy tiny silver trays and with one bite of the tacos they completely fall apart and the tray can barely catch it all. We were a party of 4 on 1/21/24 at 3:40 pm. First, our friend's chili came out cold and had to be sent back. I asked why the chips and guacamole weren't labeled gf and the server did not know why....as usually the chips are corn but she didn't know so I couldn't eat them. As a person who eats gf, this was concerning. Upon ordering at 3:50..we were informed that they were out of brisket. Then the server returned and said it would be ready in 10 mins. 2 of our party ordered the brisket as we were not in a rush and 2 of us had tacos. The tacos came out cold ..I was so hungry that I just ate them. The brisket was dry. The I reason for 2 stars instead of 1 was that the margaritas were good and service was ok. We spent $246.00. I have lived in Coventry for my entire life and have always dreamed that a Mexican restaurant would open in my town. Prior to it's opening, Lake Taco was hyped way too high and I was riding that train so hard. When I finally had the opportunity to experience it, I was deeply disappointed. I felt like all my dreams were crushed. Heart completely broken. As soon as I walked in I knew it was going to be a let down. The floor plan is way too open and the atmosphere screams " small town bar" which Coventry has enough of. Also what is with the random bald eagle? Now, don't even get me started on the menu. I'd say it's a cross between Mexican and Tex mex however, the menu has nothing you'd want from a Mexican restaurant and nothing you'd want from a Tex mex restaurant. The drinks were okay but how are you going to open a restaurant called Lake Taco and not advertise margaritas!?? Needless to say I am deeply disappointed and extremely heart broken. When we got our food, the tacos were cold, meat was unseasoned and very fatty, and portions were way too small. The restaurant name is misleading, as there are only four taco options on the menu. Not a taco place, it is mediocre BBQ, no flavor, salsa is crushed tomatoes. No cilantro, onion, jalapeño,lime, salt. Guacamole is the same lacking proper ingredients and was turning brown, the tacos they do have are filled with BBQ meat. I went into Lake Taco in the spur of the moment. I would surprise my wife and bring home dinner. She and I both love BBQ and Tex-Mex so I go inside and was met by two lovely young ladies they directed me to the bar to order and wait. So I ordered a beer while I waited and waited and waited and mentioned something to bar tender and said would check on my order. Then I waited some more so I said ok order another beer and chill its a nice day and view out on the lake. But continued to wait and wait until I asked the bar tender agin and could tell she was getting nervous because it has been a hour! Feeling a a bit loose I decide to offer to help in the kitchen if it will get my order faster. It didn't help! So now I am getting pissed off and literally go out to parking lot because all this time my dog is in a hot car and made sure she had enough water! She always calms me also. So I go back to ask about the order and it is suddenly there after close to 1.5 hours wait. Go home think well at least my wife will be surprised and life is good right? WRONG! The BBQ chicken dinner was burnt literal black charcoal shriveled up like a charcoal bricket!! The brisket dinner came with what was supposed to be I guess 2 slices of brisket so small both didn't cover the slice of cheap white bread the side! I did complain and the owner found all my complaints true as she ordered the same things I did and got the same mess I did. She apologized and offered me $250 gift certificate and my money back I refused it all! Why would I want the gift certificate in a place I already know the food sucks! With food that bad I am willing to bet she will need that money with food and service that bad! zero stars! read more

I went in for lunch and was pretty excited. The service was great, our waitress was super attentive, and the interior was nice with a great view of the lake. The drinks were also pretty good, too. The food was pretty bad, however. We started with the savory churros and chili lime wings. None of the churros were cooked in the middle, very raw tasting dough. The wings had a good chili flavor, but no lime flavor at all until we got a few limes on the side. For the entrées, we had brisket tacos and pulled pork tacos. Neither were very good for different reasons. The brisket had good flavor, but there was barely any on the taco. It was more of a tomato and lettuce taco with a little bit of brisket on top. The pulled pork tacos had no seasoning or flavor at all. It had a grainy mouth feel, overall very unpleasant to eat. I think they were supposed to come with a side, but neither did. At this point, we had enough, we paid, and went home. I hope it improves but I probably will not go back for awhile. read more
