I called because my hood latch failed on the expressway, and it shattered my windshield, ripped off the hood of my car and my grille, and dented the roof. Jim Gornick was over to estimate the job in less than an hour. I received the estimate via fax less than an hour after that. Cheri, his office manager, called me to ask if I wanted to have the work done. The prices were super reasonable and she said that she could take the car in the same day. When I told her that it would leave me carless, she mentioned that Jim has several cars he rents to customers while the job is being completed. Wow. I dropped my car off on Monday night, and on Wednesday morning, Jim drove it to my place of business, completely repaired and freshly washed ! He then switched my car out for his. The job is beautiful! Cheri then took the time to go over the bill in great detail- some things were cheaper, other things more expensive, but the estimate was within $50 of the actual bill, I believe. It is people like the Gornicks who go the extra mile to make their customers happy that truly get my attention. I am overwhelmed by how positive of an experience it was! Since my mother's cancer diagnosis in June 2023, I've been struggling with anxiety and depression. In November 2025, after a stressful visit to the eye clinic (where I had to wait to put in my contact lenses), I was flustered and trying to navigate a confusing parking garage. In a moment of total frustration, I accidentally backed into a brick wall, severely damaging my car's rear end and tail light. Already emotionally and financially strained--in the middle of relocating from Chicago and waiting for relocation assistance--I was devastated. Other body shops quoted me around $7,000, which felt impossible. Then, I was referred to José Ramos by a friend from work (in custodial services). From the moment I met José, I felt a sense of relief. I explained my referral and my situation. He gave me a honest quote of around $5,000 and then gave me a game-changing offer: if I could find the parts myself, he would deduct the cost and, most importantly, the quote would not change. He promised no surprises. I found the parts, and José stayed true to his word in every way. He was not trying to take advantage; he was transparent, fair, and kind. In the end, I paid a total of $2,950.36--less than half of what others wanted. José is a blessing in disguise. He understood this accident happened at the worst possible time, and he treated me with respect and empathy, not just as a customer.
