It's about a 20 minute drive from Idyllwild to this small, artificial lake off the 243 highway. An Adventure Pass is required for parking, so you can stop at the San Jacinto Ranger Station in town and purchase one for $5 before heading out. At half a mile, it's a quick trek around the lake and generally flat. There are restrooms and a sturdy wooden dock where we saw a few people fishing. According to the signage, the lake is stocked with fish at various times throughout the year. I recommend this location if you're looking to enjoy some times outdoors without a two hour hike involved.

Nice little lake off the side of the 243. There are lots of picnic tables and places to sit and eat. Cool little walk around d the lake. It isn't very big. We walked around it in about 15 minutes. Maybe a 1/2 mile total? It was very quiet and very pretty. I wish we had some snow, it would be twice a nice.

We are having a great time walking about

Cute little area. Pay attention or you will zoom right by it. Going up the mountain, main parking on your right and walk across a very busy road at a curve. You need to cross over to where the lake and actual picnic tables & built in bbqs are available (bring charcoal and not sure if "High Fire" danger signs restrict ability to BBQ. If you do, make certain your coals are not hot when you leave) I found this Lake in online fb scrolling on a friend's page. It looked pretty and quiet. The drive from Norco took a little over an hour. It is a narrow, winding, mountain road so be prepared. We parked in "picnic area" parking to the right yet didn't see any picnic tables, BBQ nor portopotties so we ventured across the street ever so carefully. The parking lot was getting very busy just as we arrived at 1045am on a Sunday.. Families in mini vans, single gentlemen with fishing poles, couples curled up in various areas on the trails on blankets or at the picnic tables. Noticed a family spraying one another heavily for mosquitos. There are a LOT of bugs here in August. The water was murky with algea bloom. Very typical for late August in southern california. So many gnats it was difficult to enjoy our picnic lunch. Swimming is not allowed. You could get very ill. We didn't explore many trails. Small area but very pretty. I would like to come back armed with insect repellant, an umbrella, a blanket and fixings for a lazy afternoon of bbqing :) It was worth the drive and I LOVE the smells up in the forest. Nature is so beautiful.

    Very pretty.

Yes, it's a small lake but it's very pretty. There are a good number of picnic tables and two sets of restrooms of dubious cleanliness. You can also fish here and, apparently, swim. We saw a few people dive in from the large rock which you can't miss. It's probably a 15 minute walk around and there's one atea, farthest from the parking lot which isn't paved and you'll have to do a little balancing to avoid getting wet. The parking lot directly across the street is good-sized and you'll need a $5 adventure pass to park there. We got ours at the ranger station but they seemed to have a little machine in the lot for parking. Worth a visit!

Beautiful park just a few miles before Idyllwild. The trails were accessible and beautiful views even on a cloudy day. Parking is across the street unless you have accessible parking permit. You do need an adventure pass. Restrooms were clean as well.

This is one of the best small lake fishing experiences you'll find. Tucked away in the hills near Idyllwild, California, this lake is a serene fishing haven. Although parking can be tricky, requiring you to cross the main highway to reach the water, the tranquil beauty and excellent fishing will make you never want to leave.

Beautiful spot. Be sure to pick up an adventure pass before arriving. You need to display your pass on your car which you can park across the street. Very dog friendly. Beautiful bridge, good place for fishing. I didn't see anyone swim however. Dogs love it for a quick stroll.

The lake is super low! Not very clean. Supposedly they stock the water w fish, but prob not good to eat anything you catch. I hve yet to catch anything, or even get a bit on my line. The dumpster is overflowing with trash, n it's locked on top of it. So there's no where to throw away trash. Plus u gotta get a adventure pass or sumthing like tht to even fish here, idk! I can think of a gazillion other lakes to go to besides this one.

Very cute little lake on the way to Idyllwild! When we went (July 18th 2023) there was some construction which blocked off the restrooms and some of the trail. There are a few picnic tables and benches around the lake and we saw several people fishing on the banks. There is no swimming or boating allowed so it's mostly just a place to stop for a bit to enjoy the view. Parking lot is directly across the street but there are a couple handicap accessible spots right at the entrance.

Gorgeous small lake with picnic tables and restrooms. Tried my luck at fishing but no bites. You'll need an adventure pass to park but we'll worth it.

This is a rad little lake. You can loop around it doing laps or there are some apparent trail heads above it with picnic tables to accommodate people who want to hang out. We got lucky and caught this lake when it was chilly and had the fog effects going. Roughly a 20 minute drive up the mountain from Idyllwild.

Beautiful place to stop at while making your way in or out of Idyllwild. Parking does require an Adventure Pass, so make sure to pick one up. Lots of benches to picnic and a quick loop to walk around the entire lake. Was quite busy here when we stopped by on a Sunday so did not stay for too long.

Great little lake with lots of potential for some good bbq. Unexpected stop by on the way home from Idy and was pleasantly surprised. It was obviously cold but it was beautifully eerie. Like a seen from twilight cuz the fog came in thick and quick. Would be back during spring to do some mean bbq. See you soon.

She became upset when I questioned it and asked if she was the manager. As I was leaving the campground she must have contacted her partner bcs I had guy with a tied up beard pull up on me and yell from his golf cart " if I had a problem with his girl". Apparently her and her partner work here as a team and feel they are right regardless if they are in the wrong (per the tough boyfriend that gave his best to intimidate me this afternoon). I have stayed here in the past and although the place is in need of renovations the staff showed professionalism & friendliness that helped me see beyond the many areas that are in need of improvement.

I live in Orange County and visit family near Loma Linda and make time to drive through Oak Glen and hike with my dog and cat at the Wildlands Conservancy. This is such a magical place and brings me much peace. It is beautiful, peaceful and from the tall sequoias to the tropical rainforest like trees, wild birds flying and chirping through them, sound of the woodpeckers and the fog rolling over the lake, it feels like a fairy tale. My pets love hiking here as well. Both entrance and parking at the Conservancy are free. It is very family and pet friendly with a petting zoo and food stands toward the other side as you drive in. There are also areas with picnic tables near the trails. The trails are very scenic and fairly easy with a portion that is somewhat steep which I would consider slightly moderate but not difficult. I highly recommend taking the time to visit this hidden gem.
