Tried this place for the first time even though we live nearby. The waitress greeted us when we first went in and asked us to seat anywhere we liked. We have been here a few times. It's close so,,, The pancakes are not very good. In the past we have ordered the SOS. Biscuits and gravy. Been about a year since we were there. Called in an order for 2 SOS and a side of bacon. Folks it was $ 29.00. Now if you will look at the menu on this site it shows the SOS at $ 6.95. I know things have gone up but I'm so tired of businesses taking advantage. They are now charging $ 10.95 for 2 biscuits and gravy. I'm sorry but milk and flour has not increased by almost double. And bacon is still fairly reasonable. I don't believe they have doubled the salaries they pay but they have no problem almost doubling the cost of a simply biscuit and gravy. Lots of places are doing it because they can. When you google the restaurant the menu there shows the SOS at $ 6.95 as well I won't be back. We went to Lake Cities Cafe for the first time on September 9th. We were told by some friends that Lake Cities Cafe was a must try. I am a huge fan of country fried steak so I ordered the Country Breakfast with an 8 oz Chicken fried steak, two eggs ,two pancakes, hash browns,and a side order of bacon. Wow! I was surprised how big the portions were. This plate was very filling and a great price also. My wife ordered the Vegi omelette which had mushrooms,green peppers,inions and cheese in it it was served with a large size of hash browns. The omelette was a great size for the price. It did seem like the omelette was lacking flavor and was over powered by the mushroom flavor. Other then that it was very good. We plan to return and try their lunch menu at some point and will update my review on the lunch. There are plenty of restaurants in this area but I would choose Lake Cities Cafe over them when it comes to a breakfast dish. Horrible service on the first visit. The hostess did not help us because we were placing food to go. She was too concerned with customers coming in after us to even give us a menu. We had to find and grab menus. We had to find someone to take our order. The flow of customers coming in & out and paying all in the same path is ridiculously unorganized. Another customer almost sat in my lap and did bump into me. We gave the restaurant a 2nd chance. The 2nd time we ate there. We received bad service the 2nd time as well. At the 2nd visit our waitress actually insulted me. It was an unintentional insult, but it was incredibly rude & hurtful. We still tipped her, but I couldn't make eye contact with her after her lack of common social decency. She quickly realized her mistake. Hopefully she'll learn to not word vomit so hurtfully towards others in the future. The food itself was ok, not outstanding, but not bad. The prices are very fair. I went back a 3rd time for a to-go order. The hostess was kind and stepped away for just a min. A very friendly man stepped in immediately to help me. He was in the process of taking my order when the hostess returned. He said he's not a server and she would take over. I'm not sure what the guy's position was, but he was one of those rare employees that goes above & beyond. He didn't care if it wasn't his job, he was doing anything he could to help customers. 5 stars for him. 4 stars for the hostess at the 3rd visit. Tucked away in the retail strip, we have a new, no frills, diner. I would choose this over the other breakfast place any day. We walked in and were greeted promptly, choosing a table by the window. Our waitress popped by and I snagged a sweet tea, the hubby got some coffee. Then we looked over the menu. Lots of specials to choose from and it's not expensive. I ended up with a build your own omelet and my hubby got biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns and link sausage. I asked for no butter on the English muffin but it came out with butter - we were in a hurry so I just set that aside. The omelet was perfectly fluffy, filled with ham, Swiss cheese, mushrooms and spinach! My hubby's plate had 2 open faced homemade biscuits with sausage gravy generously poured over everything. The hashbrowns were really tasty too. I loved the finely ground link sausage too. I had to get a to go container, the omelet was big enough to make at least 2 other breakfast meals. We've been here quite a few times now and the service has never been good especially on the weekends we were seated and one woman section that was more concerned about making sure her section was full and talking about her tips to another waitress loud enough that everyone could hear. This place is off the chart. Hidden away in the strip mall next to Albertson's in Corinth/Hickory Creek on 2181/Teasley Drive, and behind the major named fast food joints is this little Jewel. They have the best home cooked meals.....Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch all the food is awesome, the service is awesome, and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Added a bowl of grits. The home fries were really good. Perfectly cooked with a slightly crisp outside and lightly seasoned. Eggs were exactly as I ordered. The biscuit a better than average. This is a tough one because my wife makes the best biscuits ever, so I might be a little critical. I will have then again. I love grits and these were also very good. The best thing was the chicken fried steak. It was homemade here. Not done frozen plank they just drop in a fryer. Perfectly breaded. Not to heavily. Perfectly seasoned. This is one of our favorite places to pop in for breakfast. Owner is friendly and the food has always been very good. They struggle with help like most places have been. We are comfortable enough to get up and refill our own coffee if needed. We bring out of town guests here for something to eat when we pick them up from the airport and now they look forward to stopping in when they visit. read more

I ordered chicken and waffles with strawberry glaze. While I was waiting on my food, I went to the restroom to find there was no toilet paper or soap. It was clear that no one had serviced or cleaned the restroom in awhile. I am always suspicious of places with dirty restrooms if they have dirry kitchens too. When my food arrived, they had put the strawberry glaze on the chicken imstead of the waffle....what? The waitress was nice about it and took it back. When it came out, the waffle was cold as they did not make me a fresh waffle. The chicken came out in the form of chicken strips and they good and there quite a few of them.. I think the only reason this place makes it is because there arent very many places to eat in Corinth....my advice is drive to Denton. read more
