    Chicken Satay

Take out review. Cannot comment on service or ambiance. APPS: Crab Rangoon (not pictured) - May be the best I've had in Grand Rapids. Very visible crab meat. I don't know what the sauce was, but it wasn't the typical and I kind of missed that. These ones don't really need sauce though. Spring rolls (not pictured)- overall good. Didn't feel there was much in it. Same sauce as the rangoons. Chicken satay (pictured)- most of the reason for a lowered review. This is my FAVORITE dish and it came in a bag that was extremely soggy so the peanut sauce flew out and spilled all over the kitchen rug. The chicken was okay. Definitely not my favorite and wouldn't order again. No comments on the peanut sauce other than it wasn't horrible to clean out of the rug. Also- no cucumber sauce is disappointing. ENTREES: Pad Thai- there were 2 options on the menu which was confusing bc they seemed to be the exact same. This one is NOT the one that says peanut in the title. The sauce was really red which I have never experienced. It was good. I wish there were some extra veggies in it. Orange chicken- the sauce separate from the fried chicken is genius. This was my favorite I've had as well. The chicken was incredibly crispy and it was nice to be able to control how saucey you had it. A definite order. Pineapple fried rice- medium was pretty mild honestly. Not as much flavor as expected. My husband thought it was kind of bland but he wasn't disappointed. I also felt like more veggies could be included. Overall, would try again but PLEASE change the packaging for the chicken satay for other customers.

My favorite Thai restaurant in west Michigan. The service is always fast, portions are huge and food is delicious. Love their Tom yum soup, pad thai, and bun.

Flavorful but not a serving worth 11.50

I ordered some veggie Tom Kha to go. Order was filled immediately. The place looked inviting. The soup was fantastic!! The best I have ever had. Seemed pretty pricy however. $11.50 for maybe 2 cups of soup. Keep in mind this was a veggie Tom Kha. Maybe that is normal for Grand Rapids MI, but pretty sure I can get it cheaper or with shrimp in Milwaukee.

No clue why anyone that gave this place a 1 or 2 star usually get their Thai or Vietnamese food but they missed out on a great experience here. I've been to 3 different Thai restaurants in GR since moving here and each time I am more and more Impressed. This one has OFFICIALLY kicked all others down the list. I ordered my go to soup to judge the authenticity and quality of a place the Tom Kha Gai soup. LAI THAI KITCHEN KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. The blend of flavors and spices in this classic was so damn good I had to order TWO. I also ordered mango fried rice and coconut fried rice. I had shrimp in mine and they added EIGHT as in 8 giant shrimp. oh but wait there's more. In case you were still hungry or wondering the PHO CHICKEN was good. A favorite? Nah but definitely when weighing in on the whole experience I plan on bringing all my out of town friends here. BTW THE COCONUT PIE IS SCRUMPTIOUS

szechuan tofu sauce was liquid but still tasty

Do not order Chicken Wings - Appetizers. It's only 5 pieces $9. It's not worth it. Pho was too salty and pad thai was too sweet.

TERRIBLE REVIEWS, GREAT RESTAURANT!!!…read more We do not deserve this place. I have seen such stupid 1 star reviews driving this place down so I made this. People claiming the food was undercooked when the menu item they ordered as takeout comes raw with hot broth. Whoever made that deserves to eat McDonald's and crappy, frozen, store-bought crab rangoons. People complaining of service when arriving unannounced with a party of 12 when the restaurant is on off season hours. I love this restaurant. It has great pho that doesn't have the standard dishwater taste of many small Asian places around GR. The restaurant is often understaffed because it's a small family restaurant. They do a great job but it's usually one person acting as waiter and host. We have called with parties of over 10 and been turned away but never had the gaul to arrive with one. Had some bad experiences with service years ago but recently it's been very good. Kong the host is fast and good at steering people to good menu options. Pictured below is raw beef and beef ball we ordered as takeout and cooked properly because we aren't morons. Excellent food. Would frequent this place if you know good pho from bad.

I came in around 5:30 to pick up some banh mi for dinner. I think bc of the time, the bread must have been stale from when they baked it in the morning... to give you an idea, I didn't have them toast it, and when I ate it in the car on the drive home, it was crumbly, there were big pieces of crumbs everywhere. The meat portion was also little in comparison to the baguette. I also got a few snacks from the fridge: the coconut jelly, flan, and yogurt. The coconut jelly was bad, the white part (coconut milk gelatin) had gone sour. The clear part was still good - which I took a chance at bc it was $5... The flan did not taste fresh, the texture was that of a yogurt that had solidified and kind of liquidy... The yogurt was actually good, probably bc yogurt can't go bad... I also got the banh cuon and com chay, both of those were fortunately good. However the com chay container was stapled shut on multiple sides which made it a pain to open with the risk of the staples also landing in the com chay. Overall, I get that Vietnamese food might be scarce in the GR area, but quality was really lacking and if you had not had banh mi in a major metro area, you wouldn't know any better... I didn't come back and probably won't...

The ambiance is pretty typical of any Thai restaurant. Tastefully decorated, not cluttered or tacky at all. The menu was a bit lengthy, but it was nicely laid out and easy to read. The prices are pretty comparable with other Thai restaurants. Our waiter, I believe, was also the owner of the restaurant, a very pleasant gentleman. He was knowledgable about the menu and offered a spice range of 1 (no spice) to 10 (extremely spicy), and anywhere in between. My son ordered the Drunk Mama dish, my husband ordered the Mongolian dish, and after asking if there was soy in it (and mentioning I had a soy allergy), I ordered the Vegetable dish. The waiter assured me they could make it without soy. It was literally only a few minutes when the dishes started coming to the table, piping hot. I had only taken about 2 bites when the waiter came over to the table, took one look at my dish and said, "Oh, let me remake that for you. I can tell this has soy in it." He whisked it away immediately. A few minutes later, I was given a newly prepared dish, without soy, and was told there would be no charge for dinner. I also received many apologies for the mixup. This is one place that genuinely cares about their customers. My vegetable dish was full of tasty, very fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection. All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The spice levels were perfect, the presentation was nice, and the taste was outstanding. We love Thai food and have tried a lot of them, but this one is now at the top of our list. We live on the south end of Grand Rapids, but we will definitely be back! I'm looking forward to trying many of the other dishes listed on the menu. I highly recommend you try Jasmine Thai too.
