I originally went here because it was close and the reviews were good about Dr. Mai. Every time I would go there I never saw Dr. Mai or they would have other people work on me and my family. One time her sister worked on my teeth and it was pretty painful. I opted to not have her again and to have a hygienist. My kids had a hygienist and they said she really hurt their teeth and was not gentle and that they didn't want to go back. I got Dr. Roxanne and she is probably the best one that I had. She is really sweet and was awesome in giving me injections and fillings. When my husband went in he actually wasn't too happy because he felt like they were trying to get him to take x-rays and saying that they needed to take them. The blond receptionist was really nice but the other ones weren't very welcoming. The other female receptionist became a little nicer as time went on. I did felt like they were trying to up sell me on fluoride, different products, etc. The office was nice and they had snacks for people. It was nice when we went over 4th if July and they gave us all s'mores kits. That was a nice touch but it was kind of weird when Dr. Mai said, "give us a good review on yelp." That was quite a turn off to me. I just didn't get a sense they genuinely cared for us. read more

Dentist- Hi, I was referred to Ladera Dentistry and like some, I have to say going to the dentist is not a priority for me yet I understand the importance of going! Nonetheless, I remember my first visit to see Dr. Mai and I have to say I was wowed! I was comfortable with the entire staff that was on duty and I was impressed with their knowledge/skill level/ cordial demeanor and professionalism. I have been to a few visits thus far and there is no other dentist that I would rather see. I'm sure there are other good dentist, but she is in fact a great one. Everyone was so nice! Beautiful office & got me in the very next day for an emergency. I got a tour of the salon plus a welcome gift which was sweet! Dr. Mai was very gentle & quick which was great! Before she extracted my tooth I asked how much the cost would be. She told me & I asked her how did she figure the price. She told me because she would have to break the tooth in a few pieces & it most likely wouldn't be a clean break. The price was fairly reasonable & I was in tons of pain so I agreed. I have had a tooth pulled before & know what breaking teeth sound like. I've also always been asked if I wanted to see the tooth after it's extracted. So I thought it was odd when not even 10 minutes later she was done! I heard no breaking of a tooth & she didn't ask me if I wanted to see the tooth. The price should have been reduced because it wasn't what she estimated. I was obviously not on top of things 100% and didn't really think about it until I got in the car so I couldn't really do anything about it. Feeling like she pulled one over me put a bad taste in my mouth! (Pun intended ;) Maybe I'll go back again maybe I won't? read more

Unfortunately, I am not able to rate Dr. Mai as I did not make it past my painful experience with the xray tech. I have a sensitive mouth which I made sure to tell Penny (the tech) before she began x-raying me. Penny, however, replied with an disingenuous and reflexive "You'll be fine". When she tried to take the first xray, I immediately told her that it was uncomfortable. She proceeded anyways. When I told her on the second xray that it was uncomfortable and if there was another way she said "this is the only way". The following x-rays became more and more uncomfortable as my mouth became more and more sore. Penny continued to placate me with insincere remarks of "you are doing great". Penny made me feel like a job that needed to get done instead of a human being. I had high hopes and expectations for this clinic as I was referred and read great reviews, however, a doctor is only as good as her staff. Even more, Penny must realize she is one of the first impressions of the clinic and doctor and, therefore, she must take her role more seriously. Penny must learn to recognize when it is appropriate to ask for help from the doctor. read more

Dr. Ly and her staff are great!! I was referred by a friend and i'm so glad I chose Ladera! Her office is very clean and has such a comfortable waiting area. Her front staff are always so nice and polite and ask how you're doing and if you need anything. I haven't been to the dentist in years, so I was very hesitant about my appointment. Dr. Ly was so great! She was very thorough in cleaning and also gave tips on the correct way to floss. Then, when I found out I needed to get my wisdom teeth taken out I was freaked out. Dr. LY is one of the best dentists that I have had the pleasure of seeing. My boyfriend needed two teeth extracted and she did it with such efficiency and there was hardly any pain or swelling after the teeth were extracted. We came here on our last day of vacation, looking for a good dentist and our friend recommended her. It was a great experience. She took us in no problem and was able to verify with our health care provider and do the extraction. I recommend going to her. I have been putting off going to the dentist. I finally looked on yelp and selected one. This office is incredible. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. The doctor was gentle and very forthcoming. Last time I went to the dentist it was like I was at a used car lot. They took me in a little room to go over what seemed like a bunch of services for them to make money. This was the exact opposite, just straight forward treatment with a cost breakdown. I was shocked at how reasonable their cost of services is. I cannot recommend them enough and am actually looking forward to getting my teeth taken care of. I am new to the area, originally from the east coast and I have never had the experience I had yesterday at any doctors or dentists office. Given the circumstance they made the experience very easy for me. I was made comfortable from the start, the expertise of Dr. Mai and the entire staff was evident from the moment I stumbled in. I was expecting a completely different experience, one that usually leaves your ego, your mouth and your wallet bruised. I lost a ill fitted crown a few months ago only to realize the tooth under the crown had begun to decay. The decay was extremely bad and the infection had begun to hurt my entire jaw. I called Ladera Ranch Dentistry after checking yelp, it was completely on a whim expecting a costly check up ,and then a scheduled costly extraction, or referral to an oral surgeon. Instead I got amazing service from the moment I arrived, clear explanation of everything that was being done, my options, and the problem addressed and corrected all within a extremely fair cost, and very little time.
