Complete disregard for patient's time. I have already made plan to go to this appointment that I made 6 months ago. I was given two contradictory voicemails. On one, I was told that my appt time for Saturday confirmed then on second voicemail, about 45 minutes later, it was canceled due to not confirming. All this while I was still at work and all calls went to voicemail. I have proofs of both contradictory voicemails. I won't be coming back. Update: This is in response to the Dr. reply... Per the first voicemail, it says that I was confirmed by not having to respond. So your policy seems inconsistent and it is not fair for patients who made appts for Saturdays 6 months in advance. And you're not saving me money from cancellation fee, when I didn't plan on canceling. I knew of my appt and made plans to go. Your business hours say your office closes at 1pm on Fridays. Maybe you should update that. I would never recommend a place that doesn't respect patients' time. read more

The other dentist said I needed an implant and wanted $4500 for the that. For someone who equates seeing a dentist as death and taxes, Dr Samra is a miracle. He refuses to do anything that is not necessary even though he can probably charges a fortune for it. I'd like to give a big shout out to Dr. Samra! Last night, my 3-year-old started complaining about a toothache and had trouble sleeping. Since it's Saturday today, I called several dentist offices from 8 am, but they were either closed or fully booked. Dr. Samra's office is usually open on Saturdays but unfortunately, was closed too because of the long 4th of July weekend. However, right after I hung up, I received an automatic text on my phone. I quickly explained the situation and got an immediate response from the office. Dr. Samra went above and beyond by offering a free emergency exam, even though the office was closed! He mentioned that he had some paperwork to do at the office and would see my daughter because he felt bad hearing about a 3-year-old in pain. After examining my daughter, he provided me with instructions on how to manage the pain and referred us to a pediatric dentistry. The positive impression starts with his receptionist Nicole - upbeat and very competent. Never had a billing or scheduling issue ever. Dr. Samara has great skills. It is clear that this is not his first rodeo, and I and my family have presented him with some unique challenges over the years. Clearly one of the most proficient dentist I've met. My wife and I went to this dentist a couple of times at his Mission Viejo, CA office where Henry's wholefoods is located. We too have taken our kids and will not longer take our kids. He is not an amicable person. My kids did not like this person. He is not kid friendly. First of all, this person is not professional. He treats his staff badly and does not love the profession. He fired a girl in the office because she tried to help me lower the cost of a procedure by working with my insurance company. Second, my wife has several crowns placed. If there is a category for bad workmanship, this dentist wins hands down. My wife had continual bleeding for months due to the crownr being over sized. The size of the crown pushed against my wife's gums and caused bleeding. We went back a few times and he weaseled his way out of trying to resolve the problem. So we took my wife to another dentist in Rancho Santa Margarita and he thoroughly explained why the implant job was bad. Dr. Rockey (www.drdanarockey.com/) is a top professional and truly knows his craft. The best part of the new examination/consultation was that a truly excellent professional (Dr. Rockey) in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA recognized the problem. We knew there was a problem, but Samra would not acknowledge. My wife certainly felt better knowing the cause of bleeding and inflammation was the badly placed crown. Third, Dr. Samra's wife would come to the office and they would discuss money issues constantly. This was so annoying. I felt the experience was horrible. Send your kids to a real pediatric dentist. Do not waste energy here. Finally, there are NO BIG Smiles for Samra or this office. I would leave sad, depressed, unmoved, unemotional, and promised to never visit the 'death valley' of dentists. I think I hit the dental lottery with this place. So nice to go to a dentist that doesn't over book themselves. Such a rare find these days. You are in good hands at this dentist. I have cavity prone teeth and have had numerous crowns and fillings with numerous dentists over the past few decades. So when something isn't right or done properly I can totally tell. I have seen it all, good and bad. I'm also incredibly sensitive so it's crucial that my bite is correct. He goes above and beyond to test the bite which is so important. As for the crown I just got, I love that they use the weak kind of cement for the temporary crown. The last few places I have been to use the strong cement and then can't get the temporary crown off and have to drill it off. Here it was just a little wiggle and came right off as it should. The last thing you want is a angry tooth before seating the permanent crown. Shots to numb went well too, and this is a big one that people don't realize. I can't tell you how many times I've had shots that were in the wrong place and didn't numb my tooth. And I have to tell them they are putting it in the wrong place, like yeah I'm numb in my eyeball and sinus but the tooth isn't numb at all. Or I'm numb nowhere and I think it went straight into a vein because I felt like I was going to die for a second. He got it right, so that's another plus, I was so worried about this but he nailed it. Front desk staff and dental assistance staff is great too. Good parking, clean environment and easy to book a appointment. Highly recommend this place. read more

For me to write a full review says a lot for my experience with Dr. Samra and his amazing staff who make you feel like home when it's not the most comfortable situation. I am sure there are plenty of people who do not mind dentist visits but for myself it's a challenge of feeling confident to be in that environment with out wanting to jump out of window. =) This is the first time I felt at ease, and when I came into my second visit I was impressed with how relaxed I was. The professionalism from the front desk to the chair sets the bar high for me. With that said I recommend anyone who might have issues wanting to find the right Dentist I can assure you they will take great care of you and always have your budget in mind. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Samra since 2009. They are amazing in his office. Dr. Samra has cleaned my teeth himself and he's very, very gentle. Their dental hygienists are top notch, very gentle, extremely informative and overall compassionate to every single patient. Erycka is a wonderful office manager. She takes care of you immediately and is very sensitive to understanding people's fears of dentists. Dr. Samra took care of years of dental neglect and worked with my insurance and my out-of-pocket fees. I really did some damage to my teeth and he took care of my dental health from 2009-2013. I was so happy when things finally were taken care of, and all, affordable out of my pocket when my insurance did not kick in. I just went in for a recent teeth cleaning yesterday and I felt so good to hear, "Good. Good. Good," whenever he went through my teeth and X-rays. I never hurt during the cleaning process. Even when I had some major stuff done, it was comfortable and Dr. Samra always checked in with me. My daughter, Angilynn, loves Dr. Samra. She's 10 years old. She always asks when we're going back for a cleaning. I've referred many of my own patients and friends to their clinic. I recommend them highly and I don't really think there could possibly be a better team anywhere else in OC. I think I actually have big nerves leading from my teeth to my gums. He has a careful steady hand and if I'm cringing due to drilling or need more numbing, he's quick to stop and numb me more. One visit: 9-year-old child with permanent tooth that felt like it was loose. Went to see Dr. Samra for the first and last time. I don't know how he would have worked out at the end as a dentist, but it doesn't matter. He and his staff would not allow me into the examination room with my little girl while she was being examined. They said that this is how they work with all kids.
