    Tofu and broccoli stir fry
    Maria W.

I didn't like this local favorite as much as I thought I would. It wasn't that good at all. I came during lunchtime and it was packed with people. I was sat towards the back of the restaurant near the noisy kitchen and the restrooms. I ordered tofu spring rolls and stir fry dish. The spring rolls arrived at the same time as the main meal even though it was considered an appetizer. The stir fry was incredibly bland and the vegetables paired with it were wet from being washed making the dish itself soggy at the bottom. The portion size was there, but the flavor of the spring rolls too were bland. I asked for vegan hoisin sauce and was told that it doesn't exist. I told them that it wasn't true because right now in my refrigerator I have vegan hoisin sauce. I was then told again that they only had regular hoisin sauce. The spring rolls were thick and double wrapped creating more rice paper around the tofu making it very chewy to eat. In order to get to the contents inside, I had to take it apart. The peanut sauce was disgusting! I have no idea what they put in it, but the sauce was a very light brown in color, too loose, and tasted awful. I got my food to go only to toss it out. I won't be back.

Friendly service as experienced everywhere in Texas. Combo vermicelli bowl had plenty of juicy pork and crispy spring rolls but needed more sauce. Pho had generous amounts of meat but was a bit salty. Shaking beef was tender with tons of garlic. Vegetarian soup was the best thing we ordered with lots of tofu and veggies. Service was patchy with soups coming out 10 minutes after shaking beef and vermicelli.

A good place to pitstop. The pork vermicelli bowl was really good and the sauces were good too. I like that they give levels of spiciness- I got a 3 and boy it was pretty spicy, so definitely don't punch above your weight here. The spring rolls were lackluster, filled with mostly noodles. Otherwise everything was good. Service was friendly and pretty quick.

Ordered via yelp through door dash - super simple, easy and was ready within 20 minutes. I've also come here numerous times for lunch and it's a nice spot to grab something and know that you will be in and out as quickly as you want to make your visit. I tend to stick with what I know and love, chicken vermicelli just because it's so good. They don't skimp on the chicken (see photo) and it's charred perfectly and the flavor is delicious. Lots of veggies and noodles as well. The egg rolls and spring rolls are also a must for an appetizer as well. So glad Lab C is here in Bastrop!

We have eaten at Lab C several times. Each time the food has been excellent. The flavors are great. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The service is fast and reliable. We have had several different dishes. Most of them come with salad and the carrots are fantastic. They are marinated and very tasty. If you love Asian fusion this place is for you.

Hello, giving this rate because I ate at y'all's place yesterday and was left with a bad experience, I communicated to your workers that me and my sister didn't like two of the plates, we placed an order of wings, soup and some meat and noddles, the wings tasted straight like garlic and very bitter, when I told the waiter this she said that you guys are not a wings place, then makes no sense this is on the menu, my sister was expecting different type of noddles on her plate, I also ordered a drink with boba, I was expecting the black boba, and when I talked to the waiter about it she said that I asked for classic boba and I thought that's what classic boba not tapioca is, if we get technical the tapioca it's the root/plant used to make the flour for the boba and if you look up classic boba on google you get the black boba. I communicated my issue being very respectful, not screaming or anything of that kind, didn't make a scene and I requested to talk to the manager and the waiter informed us that he did not want to talk to us which I think was very unprofessional and disrespectful. I would like a refund for the food we did not eat, cause at other restaurants I have been offered a swap of the plate, when I did not like the food , cause we were not planning to eat the food, and not trying to take advantage of yall. In overall the atmosphere felt like they were ignoring us.

Great local spot that is worth the stop! Staff is very kind and attentive, they engage with their customers which I appreciate. The food is reasonably priced and tasty, all fresh ingredients.

Service was great, we came right when they opened. Restaurant was clean with some cute decorations. We ordered the all in one pho, bánh mì grilled pork, fresh spring rolls, and Vietnamese coffee. They get some of their drinks from the neighboring store Tea Valley. Spring roll was fine and bánh mì pork had some good features but I probably wouldn't get them again because I like trying to find the best items to get when I come to a place again. I recommend the all in one pho. Best one I've had! There was a good balance of fatty and lean meat. The broth was delicious that barely needed any extra seasoning. It was slightly more on the sweet side. An addition of a squeeze of a couple lime pieces was good. I liked how they portion out the veggies like the mint and bean sprouts. For the hoisin and sriracha sauce, they portion it out rather than having the bottles at the table. We also met the owner Gilbert who was nice. Overall, I think you should definitely try the pho and see what else you like here.

For $150/head you get solid Chinese food, with nice presentation. To me, if I consider the $150 price point for the meal, paying simply for presentation is not enough, especially if you consider other restaurants competing at this price point in the Austin area. Very few of the dishes had any real flavor advancements/innovations past the original Chinese dish it was based on. For example, the salt and pepper lobster comes out in this fancy wide wooden dish, filled with dried peppers, and then is seated on a textured stone bowl with sliced lettuce under the lobster tail. All to get 2 bites of typical tasting lobster. Was the lobster good? yes, but the general feeling is pay more to get better presentation, and less food for the money, not a food taste upgrade. To be fair, that may be what the restaurant is targeting. To contextualize Ling's kitchen, I feel as if you would be able to get a larger version of most if not all dishes, with similar quality in Houston for $20. For $150 you would be able to feed an entire family with drinks and dessert normally so I do not feel as if the money is worth it. Not much innovation on the flavors for the palate, but the food had very cute visuals. Service was nice, and the Chef's energy was infectious.

Chef Ling is a brilliant and personable chef who treats her chefs and staff like family. Several different chefs prepared each course, and the presentation was well beyond what we expected, both visually stunning and thoughtfully composed. From the moment we walked into Ling Kitchen, the energy felt warm and intentional. The space is intimate without feeling cramped, and you immediately sense that you are about to be part of something special rather than just another dinner reservation. Chef Ling personally welcomed guests, shared the story behind the menu, and checked in throughout the evening in a way that felt genuine and never forced. Each course built on the last, with a clear progression of flavors and textures. The fish was impeccably fresh, the knife work precise, and the seasoning balanced to highlight the natural ingredients rather than overpower them. You could see the coordination among the team as different chefs stepped forward to prepare and present their dishes. It truly felt collaborative, like a small culinary orchestra. What stood out most was the creativity. Traditional techniques were honored, but there were subtle twists and unexpected combinations that kept us curious and engaged. Every plate was composed like art. The pacing was perfect, allowing time to savor each bite and appreciate the craftsmanship. Beyond the food, the hospitality elevated the entire experience. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly proud to be part of the team. That family atmosphere Chef Ling fosters is palpable and makes the evening feel personal. If you are in Austin and looking for a memorable omakase that rivals experiences in much larger food cities, Ling Kitchen is a must. This is not just dinner, it is a curated, immersive experience. We will absolutely be back. Thank you Ling!!! You are truly one of a kind!

The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The person who answered the phone mentioned that it tends to get pretty busy, but didn't share much else and seemed a bit brusque. Despite that, the pictures of the food looked really tempting, so we decided to give it a try. Parking was a breeze. We parked across the street in the Whole Foods lot because we planned to do some grocery shopping afterward. As we walked in, we were given the option to sit on the patio or just sit at the countertop. We chose to sit inside at the countertop. We ordered Peking duck, honey beef, and hot and sour soup. I also went with the braised ox tail. The hot and sour soup looked very flavorful, but to me, it tasted more like water with just a little hot oil on top. The Peking duck had a good flavor to the meat but the skin wasn't very crispy. The braised ox tail was so tough to chew that I had to send it back. I make the same dish at home with star anise and shaoxing wine but I cook mine for 48 hours on a lower simmer and the ox tail always falls off of the bone. This oxtail at the restaurant was too tough to ever fall off of the bone with ease and there was no tenderness to the meat. We also ordered the mango bomb dessert which was the best dish of the night. The orange flavored chocolate spoon worked really well with the mango bomb's delicious flavors with the edible flower petals and raspberry flavored crumbles. I could eat the dessert all day long. Altogether, the quality of the food is not as good as its presentation. Yes, dessert ended on a high note and that is probably what the restaurant hopes that people would remember as they leave so that they forget the earlier dishes that looked great, but didn't taste so great.

I asked for a sample, and found out that it was decent, so I ordered a full glass. My partner, Stuart, loved the hot and sour soup. He said that it was better than Qi's hot and sour soup. He really enjoyed the sesame chicken with the broccoli being a little crispy. As for my beef kare-kare, it was a new experience for me. I've only had this dish with oxtail. It is served with a lovely side of bagaoon for a burst of flavor. The leche flan was too eggy for my friend, but a nice reminder of home for me. I love when halo-halo has bits of flan on it.
