First time here and went in with high expectations after reading reviews. After dining here, I'd give it a 2.5 star rating. The room was nice-cozy with a view of the mountains. If you are looking for a "fine dining" experience, however, this is not it. I would put it in the same class as an Olive Garden for food quality in a nicer setting. The waitress got most of our orders right (we had a lot of allergy/dietary restrictions in our group). The food came out fast. My pizza was very salty and the carmelized onions looked and had the chew texture of squishy slugs (I imagine). Everyone else felt their food was "ok" but nothing they'd come back for.

We made it to RiverWalk hotel after a 16 hour transit from Texas with my Wife, 2 year old, and 3 month. Everyone was exhausted and starving. We noticed La Vista, part of the hotel, and looked perfect to celebrate and wind down. Unfortunately, we did not have a reservation and the restaurant was incredibly busy. The manager (wish I got his name) worked with his staff to accommodate us. We were incredibly grateful for his hospitality and generosity given that they were not accepting any more walk ins for the evening. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi, and definitely was one of the best seafood pasta dishes I have tried. I would definitely eat here again, the ambience was romantic and my wife couldn't have been happier. Thank you for making our time wonderful!

We were staying at the River Walk resort, and chose to dine in one night. We arrived ravenous and didn't want to venture back out into the cold after checking in. Due to the lack of customers during the off season, only the bar seating was available but the kitchen was open. The bartender was great, passing along our entree orders, making drinks, and chatting kindly with us. I loved the fig and prosciutto pizza/flatbread. The pollock noodles were interesting, but I enjoyed my friend's risotto more. It was creamy and had great texture. The food was a little salty though, and even though there were very few guests there, our dishes took a while to come out. Luckily, the fresh bread and olive oil helped tide us over. We enjoyed our drinks, and overall had a nice dinner.

Located inside the RiverWalk Resort Parking available out front Meal comes with complimentary bread served with olive oil and vinegar The grilled lamb lollipops were good, but so small and not really worth it for $15 The cheese & charcuterie plate ($16) was standard, but came with a real honeycomb that was cool to try The bolognese was a solid and classic pick ($19) - no complaints here The jumbo atlantic sea scallops pasta was disappointing ($28) - the 4 scallops were over cooked, so for the price we paid it wasn't really worth it.

We dined here last night after arriving; it was too late to go out. The restaurant is casually furnished. The wine flights are different and tasty--from African to French. I ordered their Blackberry Spinach Salad, and it was good. We also ordered the breaded Calamari, which was too greasy to eat. I wish we had ordered the sauteed squid. My Shrimp Scampi was fine. I could have used more herbs and garlic, but overall it was fine; the pasta portion was excessively tiny--4 bites with five shrimp. My companion ordered Chicken Marsala; he, too, said his meal was OK but lacked flavor. I recommend drinking at this establishment, but I would forage out from the resort for tastier meal choices.

Dinner and drinks with the Mrs. settling in with a glass of whistle pig 10yr. I feel like this weekend is an extended vacation!!! First off let me say a young bearded chap by the name of Anthony started us off. By the end of our visit our socks were sufficiently blown off! Doug the GM was extremely hospitable and friendly. The names may be off and the pics didn't always show the food because EVERYTHING was perfect and delicious. Saffron and garlic mussels. Soooo good ! Octopus, lamb chops and pork osso bucco need I say more. Yeah the pina colada cheesecake and the crepe didn't make it to picture time but were our favorite part of the meal!!!

The space itself is cozy and inviting, with a bright, modern aesthetic that blends rustic and contemporary elements. Given its small size, it fills up quickly, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal, if you plan ahead with a reservation. For our meal, my wife ordered the Eggplant "Parm" sandwich, a delightful combination of panko-breaded eggplant, melted mozzarella, fresh basil, "vodka" sauce, and pesto aioli, all served on toasted focaccia. She enjoyed the crispiness of the eggplant, which paired well with the creamy cheese and flavorful sauces. The sandwich was well-balanced, both in texture and taste. I opted for the Banh Mi sandwich and chose chicken as my protein. However, I was mistakenly given pork instead. The mix-up wasn't immediately noticeable, and I only realized it when I saw "pork" marked on the receipt. Despite this, the sandwich itself was delicious, featuring house-pickled banh mi slaw, sliced cucumber, spicy mayo, and the protein on a perfectly toasted baguette. The flavors were vibrant, and the pickled vegetables added a refreshing crunch. While I enjoyed the meal, I would have preferred to receive my original order. To drink, I had the Turmeric Tea Latte with oat milk, which was warm, earthy, and lightly spiced ... a comforting and smooth beverage. My wife had a classic cup of coffee, which she found to be rich and satisfying. Our server, Joseph, was friendly and provided good service overall, though the order mix-up was an oversight. The staff seemed attentive despite the restaurant being quite busy. Overall, The Buttery is a great spot for high-quality sandwiches, fresh ingredients, and a cozy dining experience. The food is well-crafted, and the ambiance makes it an enjoyable place to sit and enjoy a meal. However, due to its popularity and limited seating, reservations are recommended to avoid long wait times. I'd definitely return, but I'd double-check my order next time to ensure accuracy.

You've got everything that you need at…read moreyour fingertips but maybe you're looking to enjoy wine or sip a cocktail at a place with more of an urban edge. Drive 5 minutes over the state line to Putnam's in White River Junction, Vermont for that sommelier-staffed experience. Love the ambience and rigorous focus on elevated, quality ingredients, at Putnam's. They have a corkboard-covered 3-ring binder menu which is aptly named a Field Guide. Trust me, this name is earned by the Tasting Notes alone. The field guide is like a thesis for advanced Upper Valley sippers, Vermont or not. If you forgot your book or paper, just saddle up to the Putnam's Field Guide. You'll find an elaborate offering of editorial descriptions of beverages from wine to martinis (6 kinds) to beer and whiskey (one from Japan). Btw, it's rare to find a wine bar that doubles as a gorgeous coffeehouse serving pastries, espresso-based drinks, teas and breakfast sandwiches on weekends. I'm looking forward to enjoying them sometime if I'm back. The offering at Putnam's Vineyard rotates seasonally, so I will describe what was there on my visits. Visit their website for updated menu surprises. As for the evening and weekends Fall menu, they call their offering Picnic Food. It's a modest title for an extensive offering of appetizers and a few sandwiches. Think fancied-up olives, pretzels, Brazilian cheese puffs, a craft beer mix, 2 melty sammies with Vermont cheeses (1 with turkey, the other veggies), beet and chevre arancini, dips and a vast selection of desserts. Vermont cheeses, apricots, Marcona almonds, dried apricots and crostini are looking divine on the cheese board. Oh, and there's also Superbon Madrid potato chips with Osetra caviar and a mini spirit of Gaston Chiquet champagne. Just saying. There is also a weekend brunch menu with bagels and egg sandwiches. As for the wine, I recommend a flight at Putmam's. In the fall season, these flight offerings were named: the Bella Blanca Wine Flight, the Falling Leaves Mixed Wine Flight, Fireside Reds Red Wine Flight, The Forgotten Bunches Mixed Wine Flight and the almighty and an unforgettable Sparkler Flight. In this flight, I slowly savoured 3 wine sparklers at $25 total. (And no, I cannot spell savour without a "u.") These wine flights are a true value. And here are the wines in the sparkler flight: 1.) Cava 2021 by Avinyó 2.) Crémant de Bourgogne Sparkling Brut Rosé NV by Albert Bichot 3.) Lambrusco by Villa Castellazo ROTA The Cava is everything. All three were delightful and I showed up needing warm fuzzies on an evening where there was live music so the total experience was extra lovely. There is also a whiskey flight! The coffee and craft beverages selection for the fall/winter menu includes a nitro cold brew, a brown butter latte with Maldon sea salt and biscotti and a FROLA New Orleans style cold brew slushie with maple syrup and coconut cream. To any craft and coffee beverage you can add Vermont Ice Cream Coffee Liqueur or Whistle Pig Piggy Back Bourbon. Yes, please. If you are making a trip of it, catch the local bbq joint across the way from Putnam's at lunch and then visit the wine bar for drinks. Layer up, because I've been nippy there twice, and then linger over one delightful beverage after the next. Oh, and there is a charming wine shop at Putnam's with handmade gifts to peruse, as well.

Cold Mountain Cafe is a perfect stop to turn a long drive into a nice date!…read more We definitely recommend this place, it's a solid 4 that comes off like a 5! We've passed through Bethlehem, NH a few of times as we've traveled between Maine and New Hampshire. A couple weeks ago I noticed a glowing little eatery as we hurried west on Route 2 en route to UMass Amherst. I didn't catch the name of the restaurant I'd noticed, but our return l timing worked to stop for dinner in Bethlehem, so as we headed back, Cary scoured Google and Yelp ...and based upon the menus and ambiance, we settled on Cold Mountain Cafe. Turns out this was the spot. Inside was just as welcoming as I'd anticipated. Nothing against small New England towns, ...but IMO you can't EXPECT a well-rounded professional restaurant package when you're in "two-hours-from-anywhere, New Hampshire". And IMHO, sometimes these fresh-movement country places are presented like funky hippy brightly lit hardscaped cafe's with busy chalkboard menus that look like 60's concert posters. Not Cold Mountain Cafe -the music, lighting and decor was perfectly contemporary ...relaxing ...inviting comfortable conversation. The menu and pricing were well thought out, offering an assortment of cultural fare with asian, french, American, East Indian entrees that ranged from smash-burger, pot pie comfort food, to bistro steak and seared scallops. Unexpected additions like bean cake and Indian lamb stew entrees offered a pleasant, funky twist. Entrees ranged from $19 to $38. The two drinks we tried were really great! I had the Brooklyn and Cary had the Espresso Lovers Martini. I think Cary put it perfectly when she said that the Brooklyn was like desert! The espresso martini was notable because it was made with rum, instead of vodka and it used fresh espresso, giving it a luscious Tia Maria feel. Both drinks had a wonderful silky smooth mouth feel. The waitstaff was not uniformed, but in semi-formal server attire with all black garments and waist aprons. The service was friendly, professional and attentive... our waitress brought us some warm crispy tender dinner rolls with garlicky seasoned oil dipping sauce, took our orders at our pace and checked in on us throughout the meal. The mushroom polenta app was great... smooth, creamy and fresh with balanced earthy woodsy and smoky notes. The pea soup was a bit brighter and fresher than I'm used to (growing up in Boston, my mom made the best pea soup ...a more hearty version with pork meat always made in the days following a smoked shoulder meal), but in the New England small town country, farm-fresh motif, we liked the bright, fresh pea flavors... Cary was concerned about what she would order because she was put off by the steak entree's smoked Gouda sauce. So she had the lamb stew, which was a compromise. Me? I'd spent the previous couple of days at a hotel hanging around UMass, which means a lot more carbs than I want... smash burgers, burritos, eggs Bennies... oof! So I definitely was feeling like something light... and decided to be crazy and try the bean cake. Cary's stew was nice. It didn't hit you over the head, but it had balanced signature Indian flavors, and was nicely presented. We're not volume-conscious but both thought it could have had a couple more pieces of lamb. I enjoyed my bean cake -although I don't really have anything to compare it to. The waitress said it was hearty, so I rolled the dice. I'd probably try it again... it flavorful and satisfying. The chèvre and ginger dressing supplied a good level of moisture and flavor notes to the breaded spiced bean and rice patty. I'd add that the plating on a bed of fresh spinach presented a little bit of a challenge as I had to pierce a few baby fresh spinach leafs at a time, then add the bean cake... but it was manageable... The menu changes seasonally, so we're looking forward to checking in on our next pan New England journey.
