The Filet Mignon - minus around 4 carrot slices I ate before I remembered "PICTURES!"

We had just finished church, and were looking for dinner. We hadn't been to La Vigna in a while, so we thought we'd go there. This place is south and around a mile east of Oregon. If you don't know where it is, use your GPS and you'll find it. It's a quaint location with low ceilings, good smells and good food. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and then seated in the back dining room. The lighting is provided by sconces on the walls, and a lot of Italian lights strung from the ceiling. It's brighter than "romantic" by a little. The menu was interesting - we started with a grilled Portobello Mushroom which we shared, which was in an interesting sauce. I added some parmesan (shaker on the table) which made that even better. While we were waiting for that, a tray of warm bread was provided. Oil and shredded parmesan cheese were already at the table. Yum! Entrees are served with soup or salad - we both had the salad with Creamy Gorgonzola dressing, with the extra crumbles on top. The greens were very fresh, and the dressing was tasty. I went for their Filet Mignon, medium rare, which was served topped with mushrooms and marsala wine sauce. The steak was properly cooked to order, and was quite tender. My wife ordered their Scampi Picatta, which was loaded with shrimp and she said was very tasty. The wine list is a little light with 5 different "house" wine brands, but they did have two different upscale bottles - we went for the Pinot Noir, which hailed from France and had an interesting parchment brochure hanging from a ribbon on the label. For desert, my wife had a cannoli, and had their Raspberry Sorbet. The cannoli was authentic and tasty, but the Raspberry Sorbet was very good. If you like Raspberry sorbet, this is the place to get it. It was very rich. The place was pretty quiet noise level wise, We could hold a normal conversation. The floors are carpeted, which helps.

This place is simply the best. The staff is some of the sweetest people on this planet. The food is so authentic, flavorful and something you can't find just anywhere. The ambiance is so cute, charming and the perfect date night spot. Every time i come here i leave happy with a full belly. They always offer unique specials, have amazing drinks to try and are willing to accommodate any taste pallet. The scampi paprika is one of my favorite things on the menu. SO much flavor. Can't wait to come back for more!

Wow, just homemade deliciousness. It was amazing,. First time there, will be back. Bruschetta was out of this world. Waitress was pleasant and very helpful with the menu.

Best Italian food with a Middle Eastern Flair! No better restaurant within 75 miles of this area.

There's a back room for private parties.

Dessert was decadent but worth it-- homemade tiramisu and crème brûlée were both scrumptious.

Stopped in today for lunch. My parents have fond memories here with friends on taco night and…read moreother times as well. I understand they are under new ownership. Clean small town bar and restaurant. Very friendly staff and great food. My Philly was tasty and was super impressed with the size of mom's fish sandwich. Better value than other similar places. Only one suggestion and that's me just being picky. I wish the deep fried green pepper rings were cut a little thicker. will 100% go back again!

I'd been wanting to try this place, but it is well-off the beaten path in Nelson, Illinois…read more How far you ask? Around 10 minutes from Dixon proper, with lots of small roads to get there. But I went just the same. This is decor wise, a simple bar. Tables are available, and a separate room is to what I think was the south (left side as you enter). There were slot machines along the wall and the the room to the south. The mens room was nice and clean, and had good water pressure. No bad smells! I ordered lunch. After asking what was good - the menu was pretty extensive and had a bunch of options, I kept remembering the chicken reviews, so I went with the chicken fingers and fries. The Root Beer soft drink server was down for maintenance, so I ended up with a lemonade. The chicken fingers didn't disappoint. They were served fresh from the fryer, and somehow held the heat quite well - better than the usual fast food fare. I agree, the breading was out of this world in terms of lightness - it was very good, and the chicken tasted fresh and good. I found the fries to be good as well. The Cole slaw could have used something more - it was a bit on the bland side. Give yourself some time, take the drive, and try the place out. The server was quite pleasant. Keep in mind, there is a 3% upcharge if you use a credit card, which isn't unusual.
