I've now tried 3 times to enjoy this place and it doesn't happen. - How does some random greens and a huge beefsteak tomato wedge = a salad? - Portions are quite small for the price. - Lack of flavor and freshness is abundant. - Service is what it is. - Cocktails/Wine, not bad. - Environment, could use some updating, no? We had just finished church, and were looking for dinner. We hadn't been to La Vigna in a while, so we thought we'd go there. This place is south and around a mile east of Oregon. If you don't know where it is, use your GPS and you'll find it. It's a quaint location with low ceilings, good smells and good food. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and then seated in the back dining room. The lighting is provided by sconces on the walls, and a lot of Italian lights strung from the ceiling. It's brighter than "romantic" by a little. The menu was interesting - we started with a grilled Portobello Mushroom which we shared, which was in an interesting sauce. I added some parmesan (shaker on the table) which made that even better. While we were waiting for that, a tray of warm bread was provided. Oil and shredded parmesan cheese were already at the table. Yum! Entrees are served with soup or salad - we both had the salad with Creamy Gorgonzola dressing, with the extra crumbles on top. The greens were very fresh, and the dressing was tasty. I went for their Filet Mignon, medium rare, which was served topped with mushrooms and marsala wine sauce. The steak was properly cooked to order, and was quite tender. My wife ordered their Scampi Picatta, which was loaded with shrimp and she said was very tasty. The wine list is a little light with 5 different "house" wine brands, but they did have two different upscale bottles - we went for the Pinot Noir, which hailed from France and had an interesting parchment brochure hanging from a ribbon on the label. For desert, my wife had a cannoli, and had their Raspberry Sorbet. The cannoli was authentic and tasty, but the Raspberry Sorbet was very good. If you like Raspberry sorbet, this is the place to get it. It was very rich. The place was pretty quiet noise level wise, We could hold a normal conversation. The floors are carpeted, which helps. read more

This place is very excellent food. The chicken Vesuvio is wow delicious good bread and butter salad with crumbles great overall it's a great experience. Just remember excellence comes at a price. The ambiance is so cute, charming and the perfect date night spot. Every time i come here i leave happy with a full belly. Quaint roadside restaurant with warm ambiance serving homemade Northern Italian cuisine, all served piping hot to your table. The daily specials were what you hoped for with many delicious options on the menu, you couldn't make a bad choice. I chose the Scampi Paprika; a lovely number with tender shrimp, delightful nushrooms and fresh tomatoes in a white wine sauce over linguine. The house dressing served on crisp romaine was very good and the homemade soup delicious. Finished with dessert, tiramisu, we left with warm memories and a light lunch for tomorrow. This chef-owned Italian restaurant is an unexpected gem far from the big city. The fresh, scratch made pastas are the star of the show here. The portabella mushroom appetizer was delicious, as was the fresh house salad with tomato and Gorgonzola. Fresh baked bread with olive oil was on point. For entrees-- I had the shrimp and scallops with capellini, mushrooms and red pepper in a white sauce - perfection! The wife enjoyed the Atlantic salmon in a delicious caper butter lemon sauce. Dessert was decadent but worth it-- homemade tiramisu and crème brûlée were both scrumptious. Service from Jane was helpful, friendly and always ready. Ambiance was fun in the main room, where the bar is; and romantic in the back room where we were seated. And the prices were very affordable for fine dining. Only thing I could nitpick is I wish there were a few more wine options. I only wish this place were not 4 hours from our Indy home! read more

This used to be one of our favorites. Due to Covid, we have not been there in a couple of years, but after making the one hour drive, we were sadly disappointed. First of all, when I called to make the reservation, the woman on the phone was curt and rude. Should have gone with my instincts and canceled at that point. Then when we arrived, we were greeted by a very unfriendly hostess who refused to engage in our greeting and gave us the bum's rush to our table. Our waitress was wonderful, wish I would have caught her name. She provided great service, and was fun, and accommodating. Three of us got the chicken marsala. Very underwhelmed. The sauce was delicious, but the chicken was like a "market day" pattie and the portion was really small. Also, the chicken was tough. One other person in our party got the chicken Vesuvio. Same thing, the sauce was great but another small, tough market day piece of chicken and a very small portion. The gelato was delicious, but the portions were microscopic...three nickel- sized balls. Not sure what's been going on in the last two years, but obviously, it hasn't been good. The four of us came away very sad and disappointed because like supporting local small businesses and until now, we have always had great experiences there. read more

I like this place so much. One of the biggest draws for me, is simply the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere. The interior of the restaurant is nothing special, but the food is, and the service is, and frankly, as long as the restaurant is clean, food and service is all that matters to me. My wife and I found this place when we lived in a neighbouring town awhile ago. We no longer live near, but when we visit that area, we make sure we stop. Pasta dishes are very good, seafood is cooked well. This past time I had the Filet Mignon dinner special. Nice large piece of Filet that just fell apart when I ate it. My lone piece of advice for anyone going, save room for dessert! LaVigna has, without doubt, the best Gelato. Period! I have had Gelato all over the nation and when I try someplace new, it gets compared to here, because they are the benchmark in my opinion. This last time, my wife and I ended up splitting two Cinnamon/Hazelnut/Cappuccino gelato's because it was so good. I left a very happy man that night. The food was very good! My favorite part was the gelato. I've tasted gelato from many different places around the U.S. and they have some of the best I've had (I had the pistachio). You can mix and match flavors, a single order comes with 3 small scoops. The goat cheese appetizer was served with 2 pieces of butter, seasoned bread. The cheese wasn't a spread but was a sauce. The meat dishes had full flavor and fell apart when we are them. For an appetizer, 2 entres, 2 sodas, and an order of gelato, our order came to $50. read more

This place is AWESOME!! Every time we come home, we always make sure to have at least one meal here. My husband is in the Navy, and we've lived many places. There is no authentic Italian restaurant that even comes close to La Vinga. My family was invited to the opening and have been going back ever since. We love La Vigna so much that we had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding there! AND they set up a special menu for us! One of my favorite items that they only serve seasonally is Spinach Lasagna. It wasn't in season when we had our rehearsal, but Ali (the owner) made it for us. It is so worth a drive! And you can't leave without having the homemade gelato or sorbet. Our server was very rude. I ordered a bottle of wine and he told me "oh no, I have something better." And walked away without giving me a chance to object. He returned with a different bottle of wine and served it to everyone. I didn't like it, and it ended up being quite a bit more expensive than what I asked for. We all ran out of water and I walked around to look for him to ask for some refills (we were the only table in the restaurant) and he was sitting in another room talking on his phone. When we asked for our checks, he returned with one check. As a server, it is a common courtesy to ask if a large table is together or separate. We asked him to split our bill into two bills and he rolled his and angrily and sarcastically said "absolutely, because that won't be inconvenient for me at all." Unfortunately for the business, he ruined our experience. The food was amazing and unlike anything you can find locally, but I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

This is rustic Italian at its finest. Very quaint atmosphere complete w/ a fireplace. They usually have a small but great wine selection. Space is limited so call for reservations. My personal favorite is the little neck clam pasta, but the seafood diavolo is a close second. If you live within an hours drive it is well worth the windshield time. read more

I love this place. It's one of the few good places to go eat when we visit my G'ma in Lost Nation and we've been going there for years. It's one of those places that you just kinda stumble upon and have fond memories of. It's usually busy and has a sort of typical dark Italian restaurant vibe with huge candles overflowing with wax. We made a reservation for tonight and had a wonderful dining experience. The service was extremely professional form the moment we arrived. I had a shrimp scampi entree and my husband chose the rainbow trout they had on special. It all tasted very fresh and authentic. Nice evening out at Lavigna. We ordered a bottle of wine at the bar to start our evening and enjoyed taking in the atmosphere of this nice small restaurant outside of Oregon. Owner was extremely friendly and made sure we had a great table and server for our dinner! Filet mignon was the largest I have ever seen and was extremely tender. The only issue I had was too much sauce over the steak and covering the plate. Steamed carrots cooked fresh were a pleasant surprise. Veal Marsala was very good. We ordered a side of pasta as a "starch" with our meals since none came with it and really did not need as the portions filled us up. This is a nice Northern Italy style restaurant and one we will definitely return to. read more
