Amazing for a city this small. Great atmosphere. Lots of choices on the menu. Reasonable prices. 5 stars from me.

Parking was free and plenty in a lot however I would say they only had 1 handicap space. The service was superb we were there for a birthday and they could not have made it better for her. The server was fantastic our server Nikki could not have been better. The Salad bar was included with all the lunches and it was outstanding. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and everything else on the salad bar was really good. The meal came with complimentary bread service served warm with olive oil and butter. The pizza was really good, the pasta was fresh and very cheesy, the sandwich and fries were not as good they just seemed ordinary. The pecan pie was a let down the crust was hard and the pecans tasted burnt so I would say avoid it. The restaurant was nicely appointed but in the restroom was a not very well taken care of, the toilet paper holder was broken and just hanging there and it was out of soap which being there as they opened i would think it would be full. read more

I've had enjoyed the chicken piccata and the Caesar salad on a past visit. However, this time the NY Strip was overcooked, flavorless and tough, the Caesar salad overly dressed. $52 steak, $4 for an ice cube "rocks". Chicago prices but not Chicago quality. Bill with tip was $100 for one person - steak with mushrooms, potato, salad and gin on the rock. Yes, one rock for $4. I will return but will stay with the chicken and pasta dishes. Came here for my birthday, amazing service and delicious food. They really know how to celebrate you and go out of their way to make sure you are being well taken care of. I appreciated it so much. Luxx The Restaurant - Steakhouses Near Me - Sterling, Illinois

I saw this place a few weeks ago, and was trying to get in. Let's just say their reservations were extensive. Hint: CALL AHEAD AND GET A RESERVATION OR YOU WON'T GET IN. I hope that is clear. Let's start with the ambiance - nice, dark, romantic tables. Sconces around the perimeter of the interior, flickering like lanterns. Large ceiling light fixtures cast a general glow. Not too bright, not too dim. Black ceilings and blinds all the way around. When you walk in, the hostess is on your right and back a few feet from the door. Assuming you read the information above in CAPS, you have a reservation, and you'll be seated promptly. Once we were seated, water glasses were filled, and 6 pieces of hard crusted bread were provided, along with salted butter, freshly grated parmesan cheese, and oil in a nice corked bottle on the table. We tried both the oil and cheese and the butter - YUM. Nuff said? From there, it was time to order wine. I ordered a bottle of the Meimi Pinot Noir, 2021. It was a little fruit forward (was going for a balance between a white and a red) and wasn't chilled. It wasn't the end of the world, just unusual for a Pinot Noir not being chilled before being chilled, I did see a couple near us with a white wine which had an iced serving bucket it resided it. For an appetizer, we ordered their Formaggio di Capra, which was a delightful dish with 4 toast ovals, with a generous serving of goat cheese over a tasty tomato sauce. It was very good. We followed that with half-salads, I chose a Caesar while my wife with with a half a Luxx Salad. The Caesar was very tasty (no anchovies unfortunately) with an excellent dressing. My wife noted the Luxx half salad was very good, and the slices of pepperoncinis were very hot. Plating got a bit out of joint. I was able to finish my half Caesar, but my wife was barely through her Luxx and the main course arrived. It took too long for the salads to come out. They are using computer POS, so it is probably the kitchen that is overwhelmed, but I'm guessing. My wife ordered their Lobster Risotto for her main course, while I went for the 10 ounce Filet Mignon medium rare. The Lobster Risotto was good, but my wife noted the Risotto was a bit salty. In the case of the 10 ounce Filet, the end I cut into was more medium than medium rare, but became more medium rare as I cut into the steak. I don't even know how you do that other than uneven heat. The filet came with a side, so I choose a baked potato with butter and sour cream. The baked potato was underdone - it was around 3/8" hard on the outside. There was enough sour cream, but it needed more butter. We wrapped up the meal with a Creme Brulee, which was nicely carmelized. Just a bit north of $200 with tip - not bad for a new, white table cloth restaurant. It's only been open 2 weeks. I expect them to get in the groove in a few more weeks as they work the kinks out. read more

First time at this restaurant and drove from Freeport after seeing positive reviews on social media. It did not disappoint! The food was excellent and the service was top tier. Chy was our server and she was so kind and made great recommendations! Our table got the Parmigiana, lobster fettuccine, New York strip steak and the shrimp crostini appetizer. We made a trip to Sterling from Des Moines for a retirement dinner and ended up landing on Luxx....we were blown away. The meatballs as an app were tender, the red sauce was homemade and rich. Most people at the table got a filet and everyone razed about the flavor and especially the char on the outside. I had the ribeye and was cooked perfect, flavorful and like everyone else, a great char. To wrap it all up, service was top notch. read more

Luxx has a lot of potential but isn't quite there yet. The ambiance is good. A little noisy with a packed Saturday night crowd, but to be expected. The background music was loud and was older show tunes. If you're an Italian steakhouse, old show tunes are neither Italian or steak house. Good opportunity to up the ambiance with better music. The service was good, but slow. It was a packed house at a new restaurant so I'm sure they'll get their rhythm sooner than later. Our server was engaged and menu savvy which is hard to find anywhere right now. The food quality is very good. $49 for a 16 Oz ribeye in rural Illinois seemed steep to me, but it was worth it. My wife got the salmon and it was also extremely good. No dessert as they were out of tiramasu. Luxx is a great find where you wouldn't expect it. Give this place another month or two to work a few kinks out and I'm confident it will be 5 stars instead of 4. read more

We brought friends here for their birthdays and while the food was excellent, the service was not up to the standards we have had previously. Our main courses arrived as we were half way through our salads so we had to juggle plates to fit it all on the table. Friends took their salads home so they could have their mains warm. There was no reason to push our mains out so quickly and a competent waiter would take care to time our courses properly. She said she would tell the kitchen about the problem but did not solve ours. When she asked for our dessert orders she told about a special 8 layer cake which we decided to share 3 ways along with a crème brûlée for the birthday girl. Then she told us the special cake was sold out so we got the chocolate cheesecake instead. So this was 2 trips to our table. Surprise! The birthday celebrants were gifted a dessert which was delivered right before the others arrived. Why didn't the waitress tell them they were getting this treat before we ordered the others? There were plenty of opportunities for this information to be shared. Not sure if she was just incompetent or upselling. Either way this was unacceptable and when we go back will make sure she is not waiting on our table. Previous wait staff were extremely kind and helpful in every way. This waitress claimed to have worked in upscale places and was adept with remembering specials but her service was perhaps not designed for the customer's convenience. Again the food was excellent so the only problem was poor service from one individual. But it only takes one person to cast a bad light on a dining experience. read more

This restaurant is very nice. It was packed on a Saturday night. I highly recommend reservations. We had to wait a little after our reservation time but it wasn't too bad. Our server was Carmen. She was very friendly and helpful. We thought she was great! I tried the new pear martini and it was fantastic! Seriously one of the best drinks I've had. Unfortunately we ordered Brussel sprouts and they ran out but they looked fantastic and were a large share portion. There was bread that came to the table and it was delicious. It comes with olive oil and Parmesan cheese or butter. I had the vodka rigatoni and enjoyed it a lot. The chicken Parmesan was perfectly cooked. The chicken Marsala was good but a little too salty. The only thing that didn't go well was the filet mignon that was ordered medium rare but came out well done and the bite that was taken wasn't good unfortunately. Alex was a very attentive server. He was polite and friendly and was quick to top off our wine when needed. The ambiance is nice. Dark woods and rich colors abound. Crowded but not too noisy. The food was excellent, very well prepared and nicely played. My wife had the evening special, filet and scallop. Perfectly cooked to medium rare. My pasta had an excellent cream sauce and it was a large portion. We decided to split a crème brûlée dessert which did not disappoint. We will be back. read more

We made reservations at Luxx for our anniversary dinner and I'm glad we did! The place was packed when we arrived and we still waited awhile for our table. The small dining room is well done in dark wood and soft lights like an old Italian steakhouse should be with music from Sinatra and the like. Our waiter, Bryan, was superb as he took our cocktail orders and suggested items from the daily specials. He was friendly, fun and knowledgeable regarding the menu, even making special accommodations for our vegetarian friend. We shared the Brussels sprouts appetizer which was very good. I had the 8 oz filet medium rare with Gorgonzola and baked potato. It was prepared perfectly and was tender and flavorful. Hubby had a pasta dish which was also very good. We finished with a creme brûlée and cappuccino and espresso. A very nice high end, fine dining establishment in the area where this type of experience is few and far between. read more
