Love me some Chicken George when I come back home!! Candlelight in Clinton, IA is a great place to have lunch. It was a beautiful day to sit on the patio overlooking the river. I was with my family and we enjoyed a great meal.

Stopped in to give the Chicken George a try, at lunch today. For October, they have free, complementary onion rings, appetizer for everybody. Ordered the half pound original chicken George and fries to share and some soft drinks. Service was very quick and friendly. Food service was quick and food was delicious. In case anybody's wondering, the batter is more of the consistency of a tempura batter . Very light and not heavy tasting, so very good! Very nice to sit in the outside deck and watch the boats and river go by!

Wow! What a view and ambiance! Candlelight Inn has the single-most beautiful view in all of Clinton! My partner and I enjoyed an all-you-can-eat fish fry on Friday and it definitely exceeded our expectations. This is a gorgeous spot for a romantic date. We watched the sunset while two eagles flew by the windows as we dined on the water. It doesn't get much better! The food is great, but nothing stands out that makes it unique outside of the restaurant setting itself. Nonetheless, I will be back and can't wait! Wonderful service as well!

5/28/23: Filet Medallions. They were out of the wild rice that this entrée is supposed to come with. They served this instead!

Candlelight Inn is a nice restaurant overlooking the upper Mississippi river and the Clinton marina. They have a large dining room, a separate bar area, and an outdoor deck with lots of seating. It's a great place to soak up the sun and enjoy your favorite libation or take in the tranquil scenery from the comfort of your table. The service and ambiance are on point, but the quality of the food seems to have slipped in recent times. In late May of 2023 we had a large table at Candlelight, there were about 18 of us in total. Several of us ordered the filet medallions entrée; two 3 oz. medallions over wild rice with Jack Daniels sauce and your choice of a side. What we received were several plates in various states of disarray. Some of us received rice, others didn't. They claimed to have ran out of wild rice. Seriously? In the middle of dinner service on a Sunday evening? My brother ordered his sans the Jack Daniels sauce and with a side of french onion soup. Since he didn't receive wild rice, they sent out a plate with two obviously overcooked medallions that closely resembled lumps of coal. Fast forward 10 months, my brother and I decided to give them another try. This time for a weekday lunch. We each ordered a margarita, a cheeseburger, and french onion soup. My brother also ordered onion rings. The margaritas were very acidic and you couldn't taste the tequila. The food was just OK to put it kindly. I'm not certain that I'll let them fool me a third time.

Great view, but just not quite warm enough.

Friendly service and great view makes any meal better. Known for their chicken tenders and they are tasty. The seating on the deck may require some effort as it is popular but i would add, worth the wait.

Another delicious meal and fun day with family. Always enjoy our time here and Evan is such a great waiter!

Very nice restaurant. Cucumber salad dressing is really good! NY strip was excellent. Onion rings were ok. Too thin with too much batter. Service was excellent. Only thing I'd change is the music. Terrible. Was putting me to sleep,

Came here for the first time with my coworkers. It was said that this place had the best prime rib in town, but I wasn't impressed. We ordered the prime rib (thin sliced, bland, and I got the King size too), prime ribeye (delicious and very flavorful), boom boom shrimp (delicious and the flavor is similar to Chinese walnut shrimp), fried mushroom (juicy and batter is delicious), and the highly recommended Famous Chicken George (super juicy, flavorful especially with their Jan's sauce, tender, and cheap). The staff here are friendly and fast. The parking lot is huge and they're located next to a small boat harbor with a lighthouse and the beautiful Mississippi River.

Can't go wrong with any dish that has Chicken George in it! We had the Mac and Cheese version, Broiled Chicken of the Sea, and regular order of Chicken George. Delicious! Service was excellent and the views of the river were great too. Will be back!

Mother's Day Brunch Bust. Cant rate food or atmosphere…read morebecause we didnt get to eat & left. Setvice at the front desk was horrible. This past Wednesday I called Rastrelli's Restaurant @ the number listed in a post to make a reservation to treat my loving amazing wife to a delicious Sunday brunch to celebrate her. Instead, we were met with incompetence, poor customer service & a general unwillingness to accommodate customers (1 being a mother on Mother's Day). At first 4 frazzled greeters in black shirts could not find our reservation. Of course. The first question from the staff was when the reservation could not be located was "Did somebody call you later to confirm your reservation?" (What???? Who does that??? Isn't that what the reservation is all about???) The staff asked if somebody took down my name & number. I assured them that this happened. I added that the person even reiterated what I had told them; repeating my 1st & last name, phone number & the time for our reservation. I even showed my call log to show the time I called & to prove that nobody ever called me back. I also stated that at no point in the conversation, did the staff person say anything about anybody calling me back to confirm my reservation. During this 15-20 minute fiasco, we sat & watched the staff greet & seat numerous other parties w/ 2-3 X as many people as our party of 3. Finally the staff involved a 5th person in a red shirt who thankfully found the original call log that contained my information proving that I did in fact call in for 3 people on 05/10/26 @ 11:00 am. The staff told us that there were no tables available as we did not have a reservation, because somebody did not transfer my name from the call in list to the reservation list. As this was going on, 3 people came to the counter, paid their bill and left. I asked "Those 3 people are leaving. Why can't you just give us their table?" Again, we were told we didn't have a reservation even though they did find our name on the reservation call in log. All this went on for 30 minutes with the staff displaying a profound rigidness stating, We cant seat you....Our reservations are booked in a time specific manner......there is no wiggle room. No effort was ever made by these 5 staff members to provide any assistance, accommodation or resolution. At this point frustration set in & we left. So thanks for nothing Rastrelli's. It will be a long time before we ever go out of our way or even stop in for a meal at this establishment.

Me and my fiancé ordered chicken wings. Both of our food came out at the same time.. when I looked at my chicken wings, I had a big string of black hair on it. The cook had blonde hair. The waitress had black hair when I showed her the hair she didn't apologize. She didn't say sorry she didn't say anything she just took the food and walked away with an attitude and asked me that I want to re-order it. As you notice in the photos of the french fries, half of them was burnt to a crisp . Some of the fries in the order was good, but half of them with Burnt. As my fiancé was eating her chicken wings, she noticed that they were rubbery and pink of the inside of them. But we didn't complain and she didn't eat them. She picked room just to look and see how many of them was like that and out of eight of them six of them was raw. When my chicken wings finally came out, they were doing the correct way with the sauce and the taste of them was nasty. I went to pay for the bill and I asked to cook because I didn't see the waitress at the time. Do I get an apology or do I get anything off of my bill being that I have hair in my food? She looked me in my face and told me that as you can see my hair is blonde so that wasn't my hair ...... I said can I at least get a apology she said no. That will be the last time I ever step foot inside of that place the drinks water down and the service was terrible. I recommend do not go to this place I recommended this place is closed down for selling half cooked chicken wings. I enjoyed going to this place almost 6 years ago, but now the business went down the toilet like I'm flushing poop. Close down immediately!!!!!!!

Walked in and clearly this is a local hotspot for regulars. We were there on a Sunday(around 10:30am). Gentleman in front of us had the paper and was acknowledged by one of the waitresses to sit at the 2nd blue booth and she would be right with him. Gotta hometown feel. We were seated by an older gentleman (didn't realized he worked there. Looked like a customer). He mumbled "follow me". No "hi" "good morning" Strange but ok. Waiter was also not very talkative. Some might dislike this service or not. I don't really mind. I'm there for food, not chit chat. Coffee, diet pepsi and water. Coffee was real good. International Delight creamer cups already on the table for convenience. Water more than likely was filtered and not straight city water(at least it tasted good to me). I got biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs (over easy). Impressive serving. 2 biscuits cut in half, smothered in sausage peppered gravy. Biscuits we good. Nothing fancy to say about those. Gravy was creamy and plenty of sausage throughout. Perhaps too peppery for my liking but I was able to finish the plate. (Did I mention we were hangry?). Eggs were ok(we are use to farm fresh). Over easy like I ordered. Boyfriend requested House Skillet with choice of toast for side. Imagine a garden, then toss some hash browns in, meats and slap on 2 eggs! All the things in this skillet. Mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, hash browns, cheese-all topped with 2 over easy eggs! Hefty portion! He was happy with it. Not "bangin" but great taste. For the quick decision of stopping here, we were happy. Service was speedy. Just not service with a smile. Perhaps Sundays are their busiest days. Oh forgot to mention! Cheap! We go for the diners that use fresh ground beef, hand made. We ate maybe half of each. The fries and onion rings were good, but difficult to justify at +$30 for both meals. The problem is you expect like sausage gravy or something for some taste and flavor, there really was none. Came straight out of the kitchen and it was basically cold. Then came the pancakes, whoa! I couldn't figure out where the odd taste was coming from. Without saying anything I asked my wife to try a bite. She then had a strange look on her face. Thought it couldn't be from the whipped butter, syrup maybe? No, then we each tried a bite from a pancake with nothing on it. Whatever the odd taste was it was in the pancake. Couldn't quite place the taste, some added flavoring.....whatever it was it wasn't good. Served one container of whipped butter which is only enough for one pancake. Didn't matter as it turned out.
