This was a special place for us to visit during our trip to Iowa we drove along the banks of the Mississippi River and happened on this place which was celebrating Veterans Day so all the biker vets were there and we got to hear some great stories about their service in Vietnam. This is one of the original biker bars in town and has probably some of the best bar food I've had since being at Fast Eddie's in Alton, MO. Not over-priced, great grilled flavor and any dish with the beer cheese on it is an 11-out-10! They normally have live music on the weekends, especially during the summer months. read more

Maybe I'm just used to Chicagoland standards, but I'm always hesitant to patronize businesses where the staff don't wear masks, so that was Strike 1 for me. Strike 2 was the fact that at the bar where I picked up my food the stack of napkins was being held down by a pickle (all of the napkins were soaked through and I was hella skeeved out). Strike 3 was that the steak in my steak salad tasted like the pre-cooked kind that you can reheat/didn't taste fresh. I threw my salad out and ate the fried trio we got (waffle fries, deep fried mushrooms, and mozzarella sticks)--as that's hard to mess up. My husbands said his whiskey burger was cooked ok and flavor was good. I'd pass on a return visit. read more

This is my first experience as a paying customer, and I'm going to try to say the nice things that I can. I support small businesses best that I can, I like the decoration and the vibe of the place. And they help local veterans out by having queen of hearts,event. So that's two stars in my book just for. the yelp had a comment about best pizza ever. When you that, you have to check it out.Now I know taste is subjective. My mother thinks that the pizza at Poopy's is the best or I should say she likes it. So with that in mind, I don't believe the person during the review I was misleading it's just that they may not have had the chance to have good pizza. What I had I literally would have chosen a frozen pizza over. And the way that it looked I think that this would have been just basically frozen dough with some toppings thrown over it. The cheese was so thin that they had to dice the Canadian bacon so as it would, be able to be covered and not burned in the cooking process, because the cheese was so thin. I tried to get a side on the view of it,next to a pice of paper but I couldn't get the two to focus. Also I ordered it well done. And PieCut. And the person taking the order repeated the word PieCut, like they've never had heard the word before in the life. And as for well done. They said five or 10 minutes. I repeated for well done? No answer hung up on. Well, I was a half an hour away because I was used to ordering Mannys pizza which takes a minimum of a half hour, even if you're in the place because they cook them in ovens, not hot air blasters. So I got there and my pizza been sitting on the bar for half an hour. Yep on the bar and you have to ask where to go to pick up your food. There's no signs and you would think that you went to the kitchen but the protocol is to place your to go order, in my case what they call pizza, and put it on the end of the bar basically in front of another customer and right at the corner where all the staff seems to gather. Another confusing thing is they mentioned three different sizes of pizzas one being like a micro for a snack 9 inch I think and when I called they wanted a medium or large so knowing that they had a really small one I ordered a large, which really seem like a medium to me. And because of what I said about the thickness of the cheese. It was just crust. The thickness of the crust absorbed most of the sauce. That didn't really have much of a flavor to begin with so that wasn't much of a loss. Once I saw, I knew that Pizza was Cold just buy seeing how overwhelming busy they were, acting. I heard this more than once from different people. I'm enclosing photographs of how many people were at the bar and in the restaurant. The bar appears to be at half capacity and I don't think the restaurant is at quarter capacity. Not really sure what's going on there, anyways back to my lousy Pizza that's definitely not the best ever. I knew by its location and the dynamics of what was going on that it was cold. I had to go out and check on my dogs twice that's how long I had to wait to get my cold pizza. I was there for more than 10 minutes but less than 15 I'm guessing. I took my pizza Down by the river where I found some Gulls flying. I took all the cheese off of, all pieces but one and stacked it, making one slice. And gave the rest of the basically bread pizza to the Gulls. I didn't wait around to see, their review, by accepted or rejected my gift. I couldn't say that, this is my worst pizza experience but unfortunately it just so happened, there was another establishment in town. That was so bad. I still talk about it with my girlfriend years later. That place is no longer is open as it was open for a short time, but I physically couldn't eat that pizza and that was a first in my life. It was that bad, so this is my second worst pizza in my lifetime. So that being said I'm going back and I'm gonna have a hamburger like I should've in a place it looks like they cater to hamburgers. my favorite hamburger places in Elizabeth where she raises her own beef and brings it to her own restaurant and that attention to detail shows the quality shows so they've got a lot to live up to in the hamburger dept. I will go back because of their support for veterans and because I think Frank Fritz also got a bad deal and the restaurant seems to be attached to that in someway so my love of Savannah, love of sporting veterans organizations, my love of junk and my support of Frank gets three stars. I'm going to go back in a week and have a hamburger and I hope that everything above I was wrong about and then I will adjust accordingly. As bad as the food is, I still recommend that you support local businesses and the ambience of the restaurant is worth a visit even if you have an iced tea and an order of fries. This place is different but pretty cool. It is a biker bar and if you are into bikes and just taking it easy this is your spot. As you see bikes are actually in the bar. I had a few beers and it appears there is a good beer selection. The service was very good and the people were very nice. I did notice everyone who wanted food had to come to the bar to order; however, it was brought to the table they were sitting at. The crowd is a seasoned and there was not any diversity; however, I felt comfortable. There was live music country as expected and he was pretty good. Wow, we were camping nearby googled sports bars in savanah and this place was listed. We can in and asked to watch a college game since it was Saturday. We were told they had no TV. They had a bartender/server taking care of the entire place, which included about 6 bikers at the bar, maybe a couple more women, and us a party of two. It seemed if you weren't local, you weren't wanted. While we were there eating and having drinks maybe 2more couples came in and 2 more people to the bar. Got her attention and asked for a refill. Had to ask again and that's when she got nasty. We didn't stiff her, but gave only 15%, which is about half what we usually do. Pretty unbelievable attitude from a maskless server. We came to Hawg Dogs for supper around 6 pm. Our waitress was very polite. I ordered the steak salad and was amazed at how big the steak was when it arrived. The Italian dressing was homemade and had great flavor. I rarely eat an entire meal and usually end up taking leftovers home.
