When visiting for breakfast, I had the BEST pancakes I have ever encountered. The scent of vanilla entices you before you even take your first bite. The syrup is served warm, which is the best way to have it. Alongside my pancakes, I got an orange juice. Fresh squeezed and absolutely delicious. My husband had come to this location once, when it was Galena Steak House. At that time I would have given 5 stars. We decided to check it out since becoming Mom's, and I was a bit disappointed. The service was really nice and serving sizes, generous but my food was room temperature and bland. I had the biscuits and gravy, bacon, and hash browns. My husband's food was hot and he said taste good. His fries and sandwich were fresh and hot. I know because I tasted a steaming hot fry. He tasted mine and agreed my food was not even warm. I met my daughter here recently, as a half way point between Chicago and the Quad Cities. The food was great and the service was even better. I was underdressed for the air conditioning, so our server found a sweater for me to use while there. This is the same place that covered my daughter's tab when she was stranded there with her 3 year old, due to her broken down car. When she went to pay, they said it was on them. This is in the downtown one way street district. If you turn left twice, you can get to a parking lot that runs between the buildings, and then walk a half a block to Mom's. When they say "Mom's" they mean it. It is a relatively small place, but the food is very very good. I ordered their Angus Beef Burger with cheese, which came with fries, along with a Root Beer. The burger was cooked properly (not overdone), and was very tasty with the toppings included. The fries were fresh and hot and tasty. The oil used was obviously fresh by the color of the fries, which contributed to the experience. The service was very attentive - my glass of Root Beer could hardly get to half full before Cathy would come by and grab it for a refill. The price vs. quality is very low - the quality is high, and the price is very low. The hours are limited, but you can order breakfast at lunch if that is what you like. I plan to take my wife here for lunch in the near future - maybe even today, it's so good. read more

Amazing! I called about to go Thanksgiving plates for my parents because my dad has been in the hospital. They normally only serve in the restaurant but made an exception for the situation. They were so kind to my parents. The food was incredible and my parents were beyond grateful. They made a long recovery so much easier. We were only a party of two on a Wednesday with only four other guests in the whole restaurant. They sit us at the worst table in an almost completely empty restaurant between the back of a fireplace and wall. Then they sit a party of ten with a baby right next two us on different size tables., not on all the same size tables a little further away. I was lucky enough to hear the baby talk the whole time about colors and numbers. The Benny had almost no flavor. when I said goodbye to the server and man at the front door, they didn't say anything back. so horrible last impression. The food is wonderful however the staff is not very friendly. We asked for a high chair and the lady didn't get it. It also took over 30 minutes for the food to come out, tough when you have a hungry toddler. Our waitress was nice but interacting with 2 other staff was horrible. read more

I've been here several times now - the staff is always top notch. The food, from what I've had so far (stuffed flounder is the best!) is all so good. The side of asparagus with parmesan garlic butter is so good. I highly recommend the ground steak as well with parmesan garlic butter. The salad bar is great, although I hope they go back to the regular cheddar instead of the horseradish version, but everything is very good and soups are always a hit. We were looking for some place new to us for breakfast and we are so happy we stopped in here! This place is clean (bathrooms too) and our food was delicious! We choose the Dad's Skillet and it came with choice of english muffin or pancake. We had the pancake. My husband ordered the diced potatoes too. They had real butter for the pancakes (which is rare to find now a days) and the pancakes were amazing! The sausage gravy on the skillet was homemade. You could tell the green peppers and onions were freshly cut and not frozen. All the meat in the skillet delicious. Eggs were cooked perfectly (over easy). Our waitress was timely and very friendly too! My husband and I both agree that we found a new favorite place to go eat breakfast. We will try lunch soon. I had a rare day off while in town and saw this place on the corner. I was greeted quickly by a super friendly server. I had the Meat Trio omelette with the diced potatoes with a pancake on the side. My food arrived very fast and I dove in. The Omelette was amazing and the potatoes were just right too. The single pancake was the finisher, a light fluffy big pancake that was to die for. I wish that I had ordered more but was glad that I didn't. I left Mom's diner extremely satisfied. Great food and service at an affordable price. I hope I get to go back soon. read more

We stopped here for breakfast around 9:00 a on a Sunday. We were seated immediately. My husband had a wonderful omelette with big chunks of avocado and other delicious looking fresh vegetables. I had two over easy eggs, hash browns, sausage patties and a pancake. I rate breakfast on sausage, potatoes and pancakes (as anyone can make eggs). The sausage was very well spiced and not over cooked. The hash browns were really crisp and tasted buttery - I really liked them. The pancake was very fluffy and just as I ordered it - no powdered sugar. The service was fast and we were in and out in no time although it's very nicely decorated and a very enjoyable setting. This is a great place to have a meal. The establishment was recently renovated, and is extremely clean inside with a good atmosphere. There are many waitresses who are constantly hustling and bustling to take orders, pour coffee, and always smiling and friendly. The owner even takes the time to visit the tables and ask how everything is going. The food is consistent and always good. I especially like their breakfast options with tasty thick-cut hickory bacon and eggs, and they even have Eggs Benedict and Florentine.
