On our way to Iowa, not a lot to choose from...but we were satisfied with our meal. We had baked cod, fried walleye, and a turkey wrap. Nice clean place. Friendly server.

Nice atmosphere not Noisy which is A rarity. Great prices, friendly staff. Good food quality. I must have there open faced hot turkey sandwich every time I'm stop by. The wife it's the fried chicken. There are other things we like on there fairly large menu selections. But we tend to gravitate toward old favorite's. Not a fan of the French fries? But enjoy the soup selections and the salads. This is one of out favorite places. And we drive an hour to get here. And if your s first time visitor, the history of the place is worth a stop just on its own. A true Survivor of Americana!

Hidden gem between Rochelle & Rockford. Homemade food, excellent prices and service. Orders the Cod Sandwich, $6.99, cones with two sides, either French fries, soup, coleslaw, salad or veggie of day. Everything is made to order, fresh and yummy. Make the trip out you will not be disappointed!

My wife selected Sunrise - we've been here in the past, and the breakfasts have been good. This was no exception. When we arrived, we were told to sit where we wanted (in spite of the Please Wait to be Seated Sign) and selected a booth. The waitress was there in seconds with menus, and provided coffee for my wife, while taking my orange juice order. After looking through the menu, I ordered their famous crepes, which you can get filled with fruit (I selected blueberries) with whipped cream on top and a side of sausage patties, and my wife went with their 2 egg breakfast. The crepes were served nice and hot as requested, and the sausage was a massive single piece which was just fine. It was more like a sausage "burger" but it tasted great and was freshly cooked. My wife enjoyed her eggs, hash browns and toast. The waitresses kept the coffee flowing for her. This is an older restaurant, with good comfort food. The usual restaurant "kitsch" is on the walls. There is a lot of air pressure between the outside doors and inner doors - it doesn't take "HULK" strength to get them open, but you have to try. All in all, a good breakfast.

Only complaint was that we were overcharged for 2 items - which we didn't figure out until after we left. Overall, good. Exactly what you'd expect of a good diner.

Lord, where to start…read more... The reviews were mixed at best, but we haven't been here in a while so we figured we'd give it another chance. Walking in and seeing new trim around the windows - okay, good sign. Also seeing a paint can on a table....? Okay, not a good sign. We decided to try this place again because we saw a sizzling steak on their roadside reader board as we drove back into town from the south. The last few times we went here, it was sandwiches only, so maybe the new owners were moving to the next level? Inside, you see a sign Salt 7. The bill reads C.C.S. Golf LLC. The menu - Salt 251. Confused yet? We ordered their Lobster Dip Appetizer. The photo only shows half of it. My wife said "I couldn't find any Lobster in it." Neither could I. It was tasty, but if you say Lobster Dip, shouldn't you find some Lobster in it? From there, we waited. And waited. And waited. And finally, the waitress / bartender who was working the restaurant by herself (while the two owners were doing something else) stopped by and took our drink and entrée orders. For drinks, I ordered a Manhattan, and my wife ordered a Gin Martini. The combination waitress / bartender admitted she had to look that one up. Both drinks were okay, I've had better Manhattans. For entrees, my wife ordered their Grilled Shrimp Scampi and I had their 8 ounce Garlic Sirloin. This took a fair amount of time, around 20 minutes to plate. Both dishes came with a nice, fresh salad, with dressing in a small cup on the side. Given the size of the salad, they needed to provide more dressing. I was scraping the rest of it out of the small plastic serving cup. On to the entrees: Shrimp Scampi That's a pretty regular dish - grilled shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and white wine and served in that sauce. The grilled shrimp was there with some seasoning, but the rest which makes it Scampi wasn't there. Plus, the fresh vegetables were in a teriyaki sauce, which was sweet and of course didn't blend well with the Shrimp and it's seasoning. It came with a baked potato that my wife said "It must have had a bad spot - a chunk was missing. Whaaaaatttt? Never had that in all the baked potatoes we have had. Not a good first. I was there for the steak, so I ordered their 8 ounce garlic sirloin, medium rare. That should be a warm, red center. I could see the garlic on the sirloin - but the steak was well-done. Gray, hot, chewy (chewy chewy), and I had to use steak sauce to make it palatable. Now two people who we think were the owners come by (they didn't introduce themselves) and ask is everything okay, of course we do what everyone does, we fib - yes, everything's fine. They apparently don't watch Bar Rescue - their combination bartender / waitress could have used some help serving or covering the bar, but nope, she didn't get any help. She didn't complain, she just did her best. I did order their Tuxedo Bomb Dessert, which was actually pretty good. A slice of chocolate cake, covered with chocolate mousse, covered with vanilla mousse, with a chocolate coating drizzled in vanilla icing with some whipped cream. It was the best part of the dinner. Of course, I failed to get a picture of that. Argh.

When we got there, we were surprised at how big the place was! We sat in a private room with drinks as we spoke about the rehearsal, went over menu ideas, etc. Then, it was time to eat! Unfortunately they were out of the Pretzel Bites, but they offered to put a side of the beer cheese with the White Fish Bites. We also ordered the Truffle Fries (which were some of the BEST we've ever had!!) We both ordered burgers, which were pretty good. I ordered the Pit Master, which was actually a little too spicy for me. However, we traded (my fiancé got the Roadhouse) and it was delish. They've been super accommodating and we can't wait to have our rehearsal dinner here in a few weeks!

We were kind of surprised, because with a name like this one, I thought it was more of a slot machine parlor than anything else. Turns out they have a full bar and kitchen, with hand-held food. We decided to try it out. First off, you get into the parking lot by entering the RP Home and Harvest parking lot off the Route 251 entrance - there is NO other access. We got in around 11:40, and the place was empty - no staff, no customers. After a few minutes, the waitress / bartender walked in carrying a load of beer. She greeted us, and came back a minute later with the menus. We started with fried mushrooms for an appetizer - they did have a Pick 3 appetizer for $14, but there were only two of us, so we went with the mushrooms. They came out hot and fresh from the fryer, and were served with a small plastic container of what tasted like ranch dressing. We both ordered the OG Hopper, which is a smashed patty on a butter brioche bun, served with either fries (which we selected) or tots. You had your choice of toppings (we took them all, which included a slice of sweet pickle) and cheese, American, Cheddar or Pepper Jack. I did Cheddar, the wife selected Pepper Jack. It wasn't long before the burgers came out with the fries. Both were hot and fresh from the grille / fryer. The burgers were okay. The burger was a little small for the bun, but tasted okay and were done a little on the well-side. The fries had a spicy coating. Good overall.

Other than having to deal with a freight train that stopped on the tracks right as we were trying to get to the restaurant from the theater, and having to go way out to the west end of town to get around it, everything about our experience was superb! I'm pretty sure we were seated by the owner, who was amazing to talk to. You could tell she loved what she did and what they provide to their customers. She put us in the charge of the bartender, who brought our drinks, took our orders, and checked on us regularly throughout the meal, even though she was doing double duty. We had a large lunch, so we weren't going to eat much for dinner. As soon as I read the menu I realized I was going to have a hard time deciding, but I love cinnamon ice cream, so I knew I needed to leave enough room for dessert. I ended up ordering the grilled cheese, which came with bacon (hold the tomato), and the homemade chips as my side. Everything was delicious. I brought half of my meal home, and it was just as delicious when reheated with my air fryer a few days later. My husband had the Acres Pretzel, which was huge and yummy. (I had a bite to try it!) The cheese sauce with it was thinner than expected, but very good. We started out with a Manhattan for me and some Lena Brewing caramel pecan coffee stout for him. Mine was perfectly crafted, and I took a sip of his, which was also yummy. In addition to my cinnamon ice cream, we each had a dessert drink. He had the Chocolate Caramel Kiss, and I had the Banana Bread. Again, very yummy. The cost of all of this came to under $75, which we thought was marvelous. Coming out from the city, the prices here are definitely more reasonable and much appreciated! We have this restaurant on our radar now, so anytime we are out this way again, we will head there. We are already making plans to come out and see a show next summer, if not before that. To the owner and all the other staff, thanks for such a lovely experience! You have a wonderful establishment!
