This was a great place to dine out for lunch on the deck on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. We shared the burrata with the toast on the side since I am gluten free. The server was prompt and courteous, bringing out a carafe of cold water along with the menus. I ordered a lemon lavender gin spritz made with nearby Kennay Farms Gin and it was the perfect summer cocktail. There were so many interesting items on the menu with gluten free options that I am sure we will return soon.

I was driving from IN to WI and wanted to meet my cousin who lives in nearby Dekalb, so I saw this place on yelp with high stars and thought, Why not? This hidden gem in Rochelle was amazing. Quick, efficient service and food timing. Everything came out of the kitchen hot and delicious. We ordered the deconstructed bruschetta. It was served with what appeared to be a handmade mozzarella ball, sourdough for the bread, and a light tomatoe medley. My cousin said it was the best bruschetta she'd ever had and I agree it was in my top five. We all ordered a version of their burgers, and each one was cooked exactly to the temp requested. Fries are handcut and double fried like they should be. Everything was delicious. They kept the interior fairly rustic which looked great with the local art for sale hanging on the walls. Hand painted water carafe. EAT here please! So that they are still around when I'm back in Illinois.

Loved the food and atmosphere, disliked the 3.8% credit card fees. I am a huge fan of local eateries, and Acres fit the bill. All food made from scratch, great service, and good drinks. We are in the lounge downstairs, which serves both the bistro upstairs and the lower level. I had a Pigminds Red vanilla ale, which went perfect with my crazy Gouda chicken sandwich (grilled). Brandon was a great hardworking bartender. The only reason this review gets a 4, is the 3.8% credit card surcharge. Beware.. In the 21st century, many people carry little cash. Credit cards usage is so widespread, it a cost of doing business, and should be built into the menu prices. I find some restaurants like to add this fee on. I find it annoying, as this is small print item, or in small print on the bill, leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Unfortunately, due to this fee, I probably won't return.

New Chef - Time for an update! We arrived and were greeted promptly and seated in moments. They have new artwork on the wall from a local artist for sale. The restaurant has nice, clean lines. The new chef is putting his mark on the place, so we started with their new Hungarian Steak Bites. They came with a good quantity of the Steak Bites on a nice plate. They were tender, and the Hungarian seasoning was quite good. For a main course, I ordered their Honey Spiced Salmon, and my wife had their Spring Pot Pie. She really enjoyed the Pot Pie, it was quite large, and she brought some home and enjoyed it again. The Honey Spiced Salmon was quite tasty. There was just enough honey to taste it, not overwhelm the flavor of the salmon. It was quite good and tasty, and you can tell the salmon was fresh. We decided to accompany dinner with a bottle of wine, of which this restaurant has the best selection of ANY restaurant in Rochelle. We selected a Toad Hollow Chardonnay, which worked well with the salmon and the pot pie. We wrapped up dinner with Lemon Beignets, which were delightfully lemony and tasty. If you haven't tried Acres Bistro, all I can ask is What Are You Waiting FOR? Really? Innovative food. An excellent selection of wine and mixed drinks. And prices that aren't near what you'd pay for similar food elsewhere. Hands down, the best place in Rochelle.

My husband and I went to Acres Bistro for Valentine's Day dinner. We had a 7pm reservation. We were seated promptly. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (strawberry bruschetta). I would eat this breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm still craving it. I ordered the dirty martini pasta, my husband ordered the marry me chicken. They came with soup or salad, we both chose the cream of chicken soup. I cannot even begin to tell you how incredible the dirty martini pasta was. The chef whose brain this came from should be creating dishes in impossible to get in restaurants, but we get him here in Rochelle. My husband loved his dish too. Now, we went during peak time on Valentine's Day so service was a bit slow. But we expected that. When the chef apologized for the wait I told him if we wanted fast food we would've went to Chili's. Every thing was freshly made. The pasta was handmade. Service may have been slowed down due to the holiday but our servers were attentive, kind and working so hard with a full house. We will definitely be back soon.

Went for the first time to a private luncheon and the food was all cooked to order. The service and food were fantastic! Everyone must try this cute place!

My husband and I discovered Acres Bistro in early 2023 and it has become our favorite restaurant, well worth the 30 minute drive one-way. We've even twice had lunch and dinner on back to back days - the food, service and environment are simply that good. If you're traveling on I-88 or I-39 near Rochelle, Acres Bistro is well worth the short drive from the interstate. You won't find a fresher more delicious meal for miles around. I'm always on the lookout for salmon and theirs is excellent. My favorites are the Spring Salad with salmon (the waiter suggested the lemon vinaigrette dressing and it was perfect!) as well as the Honey Spiced Salmon entree (another recommendation from the knowledgeable staff). My husband is a fried chicken fanatic and loves their Wednesday night special that includes the comfort food classics of mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. The chef also does a terrific Friday Fish Fry, offering cod and shrimp, either fried or baked, which is a nice option. We also love their hamburgers (in addition to those on the menu, the chef does an innovative burger of the week) and crispy chicken sandwiches, all served with hot delicious hand-cut fries. Service is friendly and attentive as our glasses of water, ice tea and Coke are always promptly refilled, even when sitting outside at our favorite table on the comfortable deck. They also serve beer, wine and cocktails. Our favorite is their Back Pocket Brewing, Bubba hazy IPA with a nicely chilled glass. Give Acres Bistro a try and you too will have a new favorite restaurant!

Passion and knowledge - that was the impression I gathered after our trip to Class VI…read more The owner has a legitimate passion for wine and charcuterie. The variety of wine available on the menu is good, and the variety of charcuterie is even better. A friend of mine had suggested we try this place just the other day. It's been on our list, so we tried it last Saturday. We were greeted and seated promptly. The seats and tables are comfortable. There is a bar area with a flat screen TV set, and there was a good crowd at the bar when we arrived. Our server passed out the menus, which took a minute to take in. Do we go with a cocktail, or wine? We decided to go with red wine. For the wine, we went with two different glasses (one for each, but we shared). My wife went with the A & D Merlot, which was very bright with a surprisingly smooth finish. I went for the Ivory & Burt Cabernet, which was a good cabernet. The charcuterie is named, so we went with The Frank. It came with a good selection of sausages, cheeses, and mustard, along with dried blueberries, dried plums, and crackers. The selection and flavors worked well with the red wines we had selected, and the wines did a nice job of clearing the palate before we dove in on another cheese or sausage. I noticed they had a wine club - you can sign up for $35 a month (month by month charge, cancel anytime). If you are a wine club member, you get 20% off your purchases. We joined on the spot, got 20% off our ticket, and the two bottles of wine from this month. This isn't your usual DeKalb bar. This is a nice place with solid service. The art on the walls in some cases is for sale, and the owner's personally curated wines for sale are stocked on the back wall. We wrapped up with desserts - my wife had their Chocolate Mousse, and I had their Strawberry Cheesecake - these are served in small glasses, and are just perfect for finishing up. If you are looking for an interesting place to visit, this is a place you NEED to visit.

The drinks were excellent--well-balanced, creative, and clearly made with skill. There was also a live musician performing during my visit who was amazing and added a great atmosphere and really elevated the overall vibe. Service, however, was a mixed experience. One of the bartenders (a newer female bartender) was very friendly, attentive, and showed a lot of potential--she made a great impression despite seeming a bit new. Unfortunately, the other bartender completely brought the experience down. He came across as rude, disengaged, and honestly like he didn't want to be there at all. I understand it was a busy night, but there was very little sense of urgency from him, and wait times felt longer than they should have been--even factoring in the crowd. That said, I do understand everyone can have an off night, and given how good the drinks and atmosphere were (plus the positive reviews I've seen elsewhere), I'd likely be willing to give it another shot. Overall, great cocktails and ambiance, but inconsistent service keeps it from being a top-tier experience--for now. I will be happy to update following a repeat visit.

We really enjoy the bar area and its ambiance but hope to also experience the dining room as well. We started off with the Dip of the day which was a Miso Ranch dip served with fresh made tortilla chips. This was phenomenal and my only complaint is there wasn't more! We also both ordered a drink off of their happy hour menu. I ordered the old Fashioned and my wife ordered their margarita. Both were excellent. I also ordered the VIEUX CARRÉ based on our Server's recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed that. Such knowledgeable staff makes a big difference. For our main course, I got their Mushroom Pot Pie and my wife ordered the Ora King Salmon. Both dishes blew us away. Neither of us expected to be so full after our meals, their serving sizes were very generous! I wanted to highlight the mushroom pot pie, as a vegetarian, Fine dining usually does not cater to vegetarians. So having options at a place this nice was such a welcomed surprise. The greens included with the Pot Pie really stole the show, The most perfectly cooked and seasoned greens I have ever had. Chef Nick Risseeuw came over and checked on how we were doing and after hearing me rave about his pot pie offered two of his desserts on the house. We got a pistachio orange dessert and a Malt ball ice cream that was his interpretation of whopper candy as an ice cream. Both were DIVINE! Thank you again Nick for your generosity, it was a perfect way to end a perfect meal. I also wanted to highlight the staff as they played an essential role in our unbelievable experience. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, and prompt. We will definitely return soon and cannot wait to see what is in store for their upcoming menu
