What a charming evening! The host paired the wines for is and offered very generous pours. The place seats around 30, very charming and perfect for our first night à Paris. Walking distance to the Marriott River Gauche. Go!!!

We had an AMAZING late dinner last night. The chef had just closed but allowed us to order---The scallops and ribeye with salad and potatoes were all exceptional!!! Hats off to the chef and team....warm, professional service was a plus too!!! Thanks and we'll be back before heading back to the states

The best meal (including wine) for under 75€/pp! We walked in for our 8pm reservation on a Monday and it was completely empty except for one employee. We picked an indoor table closest to the sidewalk. I'm pretty sure the employee was the co-owner and she was the only person working. I couldn't believe she was the hostess, waitress, bartender, and chef. It's incredible that she runs a restaurant by herself. We didn't see a drink menu and the food menu is just on a little chalkboard. We went with the sparkling (cremant maybe, I don't remember) and it was good and cheap. She brought us French bread with the cutest little roll of French butter. It was excellent! For appetizers we got the crawfish & mango salad and escargot. I was surprised to see crawfish on the menu, but they were excellent and plentiful especially for the price. The escargot was amazing, probably the best I've ever had. Both appetizers are a must get. For main courses we got the Merlan steak and the scallops. Both were excellent. The only critique I have for the entire meal is that the steak needed more salt (I'm not even sure it was salted). Luckily I had some leftover salted butter and spread that on it, big improvement. Finally for dessert we got the browned butter creme brulee. Excellent, recommend that as well.

Absolutely outstanding! The place is run by a man and his wife and they have it locked down. I can confidently say that this is the best meal I've had in my entire life. The duck was life changing. The wine pairings were great. And the atmosphere was quaint. If you don't visit this restaurant while in Paris, you have failed God and society itself.

We found this quaint restaurant through Yelp and it was very close to the Marriott that we were staying at. When we arrived for our 8:30 reservation we were seated immediately by an English speaking older gentleman who I presumed to be the owner and ended up being quite charming. The pace of the place is very slow, but I find that quite common in many establishments I've visited in Europe. The table ordered the following: -white asparagus with smoked ham -ribeye steak -Duck -Beef cheek stew -seafood cream soup -lamb shank -cheesecake with raspberry I found that all dishes were seasoned in a way that respected the ingredients. My favorites from the above dishes were the ribeye, duck, and white asparagus. I will also add that the small roasted potatoes that came with some meals were amazing. All and all a great experience with even better wine.

Love this place. As noted by other reviewers, this is just down the block from the Marriott. Well within walking distance. No printed menus here. Owner has two table top chalk boards, one in French and one in English. All the servicing staff speak English. They also take time to explain the menu items in case you are not familiar with some of the dishes. The owner also knows his menu well and does a great job of pairing wines with the offered dishes. Clientele is a mix of local and tourist. They are only open for dinner, so if you are staying @ a local hotel suggest that you have them call and make a reservation for you. Have been here twice now and have not been disappointed.

The food was delicious, the wine was good, and the staff was helpful. What more could you want?

I know nothing of haute cuisine but have eaten enough food to know good from bad... From the perspective of my admittedly limited spectrum, this place served me something that is well beyond anything else I've eaten at any restaurant before. The quality, textures and flavors I experienced here were nothing less than astounding. My group shared most of the menu, every bite was une fête dans la bouche.

Amazing!!! Small establishment that prefers reservations but thankfully they squeezed us in last night. Started with escargot in delicious garlic butter that was an adventure to eat and worth the work. Next we had veal in a motel sauce with black rice risotto that was just magnificent. Hubby had salmon with a sauce and sweet onions that melted in your mouth. The owner suggested our wine to accompany our meal which was also wonderful. Great dining experience!

I am in Paris for the first time and wanted to experience the French food culture first hand. I was fortunate to find this gem of a restaurant only a two or three minute walk from my hotel. It is a very small venue but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in ambience and amazing cuisine. Ooh, was that a French word!? Terry is an extremely gracious and engaging host. He's friendly demeanor and patient, and passionate description of each menu item makes choosing the starter and entree like choosing which Christmas present to open first. Fear not! Terry is a very able guide who can help you navigate this culinary conundrum. This is not a stuffy, overpriced affair. It is more like walking into a warm comfortable kitchen and being treated as a friend who's come to visit. I have dined here twice this week and not had a single item be anything other than delicious. I brought a colleague who has eaten in Paris several times. He said it was the only French meal he has ever had that thoroughly impressed him. I would suggest allowing Terry to do a wine pairing for each course. It is an education from a wine and food master. So if you find yourself in Paris make time to visit this truly exceptional restaurant.

On our last night in Paris, we decided to go to this cozy restaurant down the street from the Marriott we were staying at - an extremely enjoyable experience. Thierry, the host, was very entertaining, knowledgeable, and helpful in helping us with the menu (in English!), and we ordered an onion pie, seared foie gras, escargot, grilled scallops, and the coq au vin. The foie gras was so good that we ordered another! Ingredients are sourced locally and the wine recommendation (a Beaujolais) was on point.

My husband and I stopped by last night to eat dinner in this cafe. We are from America and this was our first French cafe we ate st while staying at the Marriott Rive Gauche. Short walking distance to cafe. We were impressed by the charming owner. He speaks great english and was so warm and kind. We had the lamb shank, and rib eye steak. All was delicious. Ingredients are fresh and beautifully presented. We also had escargot. It was our first time trying it and it was delicious. We also had the salted caramel creme butler. We plan to go back one more time for dinner before we head back to the states because everything we tried was phenomenal.

Great service! Great food! Owner is very personable.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more= Fermier - Cheese gratin with chicken was good. Didn't blow me away, but was solid with the creaminess of the sliced potatoes and emmental cheese combined together with mixed vegetables. The cheese was very strong though, so anything else was unfortunately pretty much overpowered by it. Arrived with bread, but it DEFINITELY could use other carb options to sop it all up (e.g., rice???)! = Landais - Cheese gratin with duck. Same comment as the above, except the Landais had egg and goat cheese also mixed in with almost the same ingredients as the Fermier. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + The lone waitress, who also worked the role as greeter, cashier and bartender was friendly. + Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ = Small, tight restaurant. = Not many tables inside - 6 in total. + Located a few blocks away from the more touristy restaurants, towards the East, on a much quieter street. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Nada.
