Great show, good not so great. The soup was the best thing we had! The staff is super busy so it's hard to get their attention. There was about 60 people being served all at once so I understand. We really enjoyed the dancing and stories they told.

One of our activities while in Buenos Aires was a dinner and tango show. On paper, it sounded corny. Experiencing it on the other hand, was the total opposite! ATMOSPHERE: The cabaret definitely has two levels, maybe three. The first level room was dark when we got there but I peeked in as we were first to arrive. It's an intimate space with a small stage and dining tables. Our show was on the second level which was more spacious, also with a stage but with better seating arrangements and a bar. We had a front row table which was great. THE EXPERIENCE: Our 8pm reservation started with a corny picture taking of you and your party on the stage, complete with prop hats, boas and an accordion. My spouse took the bait and purchased the $12 photos. Drinks were served a little past 8:00pm, with dinner at 8:45pm. For dinner, you can choose one app, one entree and a dessert from a simple yet well-rounded menu. Wine was included, all other alcoholic drinks are an additional charge. For dinner we started out with their house bread that was served with some kind of bean-based spread. For my app, I chose the veal empanada that was stuffed with chopped eggs, potatoes and olives - very tasty. I was consuming way too much meat on this trip so I chose the homemade tagliatelle bolognese for my entree. They did a great job cooking the fresh pasta, and the sauce was very good (savory with a hint of sweet). For dessert I had the ice cream sundae, a single scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with a berry sauce and powdered milk-like crumbles. The show started at 10pm and ended just before 11:30pm. The cast was a mix of four couples who performed the tango, an energetic charango player (a guitar/ukulele-like instrument that used to be made out of armadillo shells), a super-talented malambo dancer, and a few tango singers SERVICE: Our male server was professional and attentive. A few of the dancers did a pre-show lesson for those wanting to partake in a mini dance instruction and also posed for photos after the show. OVERALL: Do it! Good food, great entertainment, never boring.

Rather unassuming entrance to what proved to be our favorite dinner/show combo ever

Places that cater to tour groups can tend to be a little underwhelming at times. The food comes out and is rather lackluster, sometimes if you're lucky you will get a good show thrown in but I think overall, most would agree with the above assessment. La Ventana Barrio de Tango is truly the exception. This place piques your curiosity the moment you enter. Dark panels lead to a dark staircase heading down, pictures of tango greats line the walls. At the bottom your are faced with a the welcoming site of a very large wine collection. As they offer wine tastings along with their tango lessons, they have quite the selection. Then you enter 'the great hall'. It is lined with plaques representing each area of Argentina. We were surprised and proud to see how many we have actually been to. The main sight however are the tables and chairs - the only negative in the entire experience is that they do cram you in like sardines before the stage. Is it worth it? Would we do it again? Every day of the week and twice on Sundays! What a show and a huge Argentinian Steak cooked to perfection, with plenty of free flowing GOOD Argentinian wine. Outstanding! The difficulty and talent of the dancers is flabbergasting. The tango dancers are breathtaking but it was the Malambo Dancers that stole the show. The beauty, danger and speed of executing these movements will remain with us forever.

The tango shows in Buenos Aires are expensive, because it is the "thing to do" for tourists, and they are willing to pay for it. Sure it's pricey, but I think it's worth doing once. Because after all, you ARE a tourist. We read through the reviews of the various tango shows (there are a lot of them) and settled on La Ventana because it was a smaller, more intimate show (we were seated in the room upstairs, and each table was less than 10 feet from the stage). There are other shows that are more like going to the theater, with people seated near and far from a large stage. Being foodies, we didn't want to eat at a tango show "just because", since the food is known to be above average but not great, and would cost an additional $55 per person (with unlimited wine though, so not a terrible deal). We opted to eat near our hotel in Palermo instead and get picked up just before the show. The ticket price includes pick up and drop off from your hotel by shuttle buses. We were (promptly) picked up at 9 pm and there was only one other pair of people on the shuttle (the only other "non-diners"), but when we were dropped off, we were the last of maybe 5 stops (the shuttle went first to Recoleta then to Palermo). The pricing is a bit odd. I'm not sure if this is true for all tango shows or just La Ventana, but everyone seems to get charged something different. The online price was higher than the price our hotel was able to get for us just by calling. Online it is $115 for just the show / $170 plus dinner or $170/$240 for "VIP". Not really sure what VIP means since the room that we watched the show in wasn't really big enough to have a non-VIP section. All the seats were great. Anyways, our hotel got a rate of $70 per person, without dinner, which we paid in USD cash when we arrived. The other reviewer seems to have gotten dinner included also, for $100. So make sure you don't pay the online price! The ticket included two drinks (the options offered to us were red wine or white wine) and pick up / drop off. The odd thing is, we were unable to order more drinks from the bar... we were capped at those two glasses. Lost revenue opportunity, if you ask me. You can't take pictures, and that's likely because the tango dancers come around to each table and offer to take pictures with you for a price (I've heard anywhere from $10 to $20). After the show, they ask if you want to dance.. I'm sure this also has a charge. We didn't want to get hustled, so we said no to it all. As for the show, it was great! I don't have anything to compare it to, but I really enjoyed it. Lots of outfit changes and different routines. It started at around 10 and lasted about 1.5 hours. They say the Evita song (in Spanish) and there were a couple of non-tango performers. The venue is beautiful.

This is the tango show our tour group booked us. It was first tango show and after some other reviews on trip adviser we were apprehensive. We arrived early so we walked around some. Once it was after 8pm we were escorted upstairs for the dinner. We ordered soup for our appetizers, baby beef for our entree and pancake for dessert. The soup was the best part of the meal. The beef was okay but had better else where. For every two people you split a bottle of wine. It was a smaller than normal bottle and was very sweet. I would recommend ordering something else but be cautious because the prices of wine can be a little high. We tried an Argentina mojito and it was a refreshing drink. Just after the show begins there was no way to place more drink orders

We came here as part of a tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. They included transfer to/from the hotel. We did not have high expectation of the food which turned out to be very good. The highlight was actually with the show, which was very professionally done. While Tango was the main theme, they also had some folk songs/danceand also an excellent acrobatic type performance by a man with two Chains of metal balls. The obvious song (Don't cry for me Argentina) was also my fav.. It prob should be the last item IMO :-). I can recommend this show to those interested in a Tango Dinner show

Very touristy place but guess what!? It didn't matter ce sure the show was 5 stars!!!! The service was fantastic! The food was good considering that they serve food for around 300 people at the time!! We had the server recommended argentina mojitos which was not included in our prepaid $100 USD but it worth it, it was good and refreshing. However, having to do it again, I would pass on it and start with the included bottle of wine. We even didn't get to finish it, which never happens to us!! LOL The evita performance brought tears in our eyes!!! The gaucho was amazing, the tango dancers were real professional and the musician were excellent! 4 stars just because my meat was more cooked than medium rare. The show is very long until midnight, be ready! But you won't get bored for sure!!!! Go!!!

We were in Buenos Aires for a few days prior to our Antartica Trip and asked our concierge at the Sofitel Hotel where we could go for a true Buenas Aires Steak experience. Without any delay he said that we must try Las Lilas. A simple ride over and beautiful location at the site of their redone area along the riverside. Much like every other city is doing. Restaurants. apartments, shops and lots of young people enjoying themselves. We walked inside this beautiful Steakhouse and elected to sit outside where we could enjoy the beautiful view and atmosphere in lovely warm weather. Let me be frank.... Walking into a beautiful Michelin restaurant is pretty much the same around the world. You walk in with a smile and high expectations. Right here in the beginning I will say that the team and service was impeccable from the beginning. Flawless in my opinion. They came over in introduced themselves while bringing us some water, cheesy bread and taking our drink order Appetizers: Three styles of tomatoes. Selection of cheeses from their very complete collection. Main items: 16oz PIcahna steak (shared) Fried Potatoes (shared) Of course the wine was Malbec which paired so perfectly with all the amazing food. I am not going to go through each item other than saying everything was 'over the top' delicious. My friend said to me that once you've had Buenas Aires Beef you'll never forget the amazing flavor. Even through my wife likes her meat more on the well side, it retained the tenderness and unbelievable flavor. There is definitely a reason that a place like this become a Michelin Restaurant. Cabaña Las Lilas is flawless and judging from the look on the faces of the other diners around us.... They thought so too. Please see the pictures I added. Many people shared as the portions are very generous. KUDOS to the team at Cabaña Las Lilas
