In the midst of our long trek today, our small group of 4 decided to stop here for a cool drink before continuing on our way. I ordered an iced coffee with a little milk and no sugar. Two of my companions also ordered iced coffee and one ordered a citrus juice. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. The total order totaled approximately $20 USD. Service was good, probably typical for a local café in the early afternoon. Our Server was kind. The menu looked interesting, however we didn't order any food as we were just there for drinks to cool off. It could be worth a visit if you're already in the area. read more

I've no idea how their lunches, dinners, or late night offerings are but I was staying beside this location of La Panera Rosa, ate there two mornings in a row, and probably would've eaten breakfast there all week long had I not changed locations. Fair-to-middling reviews of the overall chain (there's several in Buenos Aires) on TripAdvisor, shouldn't keep you from giving La Panera Rosa a whirl at breakfast. The menu is huge; you'll find what you want. On that first visit, one of us ordered an omelet, delicious and wholly satisfying and served (probably in error), with a grilled ham and cheese-filled croissant. That error basically became his order the following day. I quickly settled on one of their "bowl" offerings and it was filled with so much good, fresh stuff that I was left satisfied until late afternoon. That it came with cafe au lait and fresh orange juice was icing on the cake. With prices that are more than reasonable, indoor and al fresco seating, and a very pink - or "rosa" - interior, this is a great way to start your day. read more

La Panera Rosa has plenty of savory options for a quick bite on a lively patio. That said, service was lacking compared to other cafés, and they need to be a little more active in keeping vendors away from diners. Not great watching at least half a dozen hawkers walking among rows of customers, leaving pairs of socks on the tables and more, with no shooing away from management (other than to retrieve unwanted bundles of socks off of various tables when requested). read more

Everything is so pink inside! It may have been the distinctive color of the restaurant that first caught my attention, but after seeing the dishes and trying the food, I realized that this restaurant is definitely a step above! Every table is started off with a basket of warm bread, including crunchy breadsticks and 3 different types of soft bread. The basket came with a pink sour cream on the side (it had been infused with beet root)--how fitting for the restaurant! For my main, I chose the vegetarian salad, which was centered around a puck made of bulgur wheat, which was dense, chewy, and surprisingly delicious! The salad also came with lettuce topped with grilled tomato, baked pumpkin, sauteed broccoli, grilled avocado, tofu in a sweet soy marinade, and a sweet and tart passion fruit vinaigrette. What a lovely combination of ingredients that were both healthy and tasty! I also tried the lomazo sandwich, which was a generous portion of grilled beef topped with melted cheese, grilled onions, and a fried egg, served over lettuce and grilled tomato on a baguette. Though the meat was a bit tough, this dish was just so tasty and satisfying--definitely a step above your typical deli sandwich! The food at La Panera Rosa was so good that we paid a second visit, and this time I tried the Panera Salad, which came with lettuce, arugula, avocado, tomatoes, boiled eggs, purple onion, a sesame focaccia stick, tricolor corkscrew pasta, sauteed broccoli in pesto, and of all things, fried mozzarella sticks, which added a nice crunch! Yet another creative and delicious salad! I also tried the Lomo & Champignon Waffle, which was lomo salteado cooked with cheese, onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms, served over a chewy waffle and topped with a fried egg! The beef was so tender, and the onion, tomato, and mushroom added so much delicious umami flavor. I'd never expect a mixture like this to be served over a waffle, but it definitely works! read more

Part of a local chain in BA. This location at least was not great. Of the three items we ordered, two were not available but we were only informed midway through waiting for food to arrive. They were accommodating about this, but still lame. Food was pretty bland, which is surprising given the rich competition in this neighborhood. My Argentinian wife said this place has the worst bread she's had in this country. They have some vegetarian options, but they ain't great. The quinoa burger is super bland and uninspired, and the eggplant sandwich is a confused mess of vegetables cut in haphazard manners. read more

Touristy local chain that I couldn't resist because of how pink everything was (if you know me, I am a sucker for pink beyond reason). It's a place you go for the atmosphere, definitely not the food. It's a very cute theme throughout the restaurant, and they've really gone ham on driving the branding home. I would skip the savory food dishes and focus on sweets. My boyfriend and I had both & the savory options we ate were not terribly good. I had some sort of pasta which was okay, but his sandwich was inedible and mealy. The dessert was good though, as we split a slice of cake and had a milkshake, so I'd go in for a snack and not make an entire meal out of it, especially because this place isn't exactly cheap by Argentinean standards. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant when we ran into it, as it has the aire of a cute, local lunch and dessert place. Wrong. The only good thing about our experience was the mango smoothie. What went wrong: horribly slow service, to the point where we watched our smoothie melt away and get warm on the counter near us as to let the waitresses do their job and not be rude to them. We watched it for ten minutes, debating whether or not to get it ourselves. We finally decided to ask another waiter nearby if he'd mind serving it to us. The menu is huge but I think that's a low point, as they probably don't do many things right. Example: the bagel sandwich I had was the worst bagel I've ever had, even compared to supermarket frozen bagels. It was also cold, and at least a day old. It was crumbly, and not the consistency of a bagel at all. The guac was tasteless, as was the cheese. The rest of the sandwich was warm, thankfully, but it made it clear that the bagel had been in a fridge for a while (I'm guessing a few days). The rustic potatoes on the side were meh. My fiance's meal (chicken sandwich) was okay, but same situation with the bread: cold, bad, old. We had originally planned on ordering dessert and decided not to, given the bread situation.
