High priced for the quality of their food. The home made ravioli had a lumpy appearance and the spinach ones were down right ugly. Very heavy butter and sage sauce for my squash ravioli... The ambiance is lovely and surprising as it is easily overlooked from outside. They had no meat or funghi we were told and that was off putting for a fine dining establishment you send out your sous chef and fetch what is missing for the evening... Especially when so many of the dishes called for those ingredients :/ Dessert was lovely and nice small portion, but didn't make up for the lack elsewhere. So another of my recent reviews of a Meh. Still, I might just go back next time... Something intimate about the place and the staff was proper and friendly. read more

This is a delightful small intimate restaurant with excellent and innovative Italian cuisine. We ordered the octopus carpaccio to start, which was finished with black olives, capers, and a balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious! For entrees I choose the spinach ravioli and my husband had the beef tenderloin in a pepper cream sauce. Flavors were well balanced, there was plenty of spinach in the ravioli stuffing, and the beef was perfectly cooked. We ordered a couple of different red wines by the glass to accompany our meal, and both were excellent. Portions were huge, so we had no room for dessert, but plenty of leftovers for lunch the following day! The service was attentive but not obtrusive. A nice touch was a small cart set by the table to hold the bottled water and wine. Overall an excellent experience. read more

Don't you love it when you are traveling and you accidentally wander into something special? La Pecora Nera is the epitome of that experience. The boyfriend and I were wandering the Recoleta looking for dinner. We were dressed ok, but not uber fancy. After YELP took us on a wild goose chase for another restaurant that does not appear to exist, we checked out the menu on this very nondescript restaurant, and took a breath and pushed the door open. Inside, the restaurant is as chic and upscale with white tablecloths, yards of fabric lining the windows, antiques and superior lighting- romantic! Inside, we were welcomed and seated after checking their reservations (Reservations highly recommended- we were lucky! This place was packed 10 minutes later). We were treated with the absolute best service imaginable, with a lot of patience for our lack of spanish. The restaurant is old school and carries much pride for its decor, staff, service, and food- that was clear! On to the food! We tried the Octopus Carpaccio appetizer that was tender and stupendous. With our steaks, we had bottle of Joffre Malbec with hints of brown sugar and tobacco- glad I took a photo of that bottle! Boyfriend had the Lomo, and I had another steak Toscano. Trust me, I don't believe you can go wrong with steaks anywhere in Buenos Aires, and in this restaurant, ALL of the dishes were superb. Just looking around at other table was a treat! For dessert we had a Trilogy of Chocolate. OH MY GOD. One of the best desserts ever. We re-entered the streets of Buenos Aires a few hours later, fat and happy and thrilled to be alive. Small quaint Italian restaurant slightly off the beaten path. We dropped in on this restaurant Sunday afternoon. It is very nicely appointed and a bit formal. We came very casual. No English is spoken and the menu is only Spanish. There was an array of meat, fish, pasta, salads, etc. there was also the 3 course menu with 3 options for each course including a large glass of wine or a Coke! The price was 245 peso per person, quite reasonable. The Buffalo mozzarella starter was amazingly lush. The mains of sea bass and chicken were well prepared but the chicken was slightly dry. Dessert was decent and they included 2 bottles of agua con gas at no charge. Well worth a visit if you happen to be nearby. We were after visiting the creepy mausoleum cemetery. read more

This place was fantastic! We stopped in last night on a whim for a long layover in BA and were blown away with the food, service and vino selections. The roasted artichokes were to die for and the squid ink risotto with octopus was another home run. We loved that this was much more of a local place and not as frequented by touristas. read more

Based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor I thought I'd enjoy a late afternoon lunch here. After all, rated as the 16th best in all of Buenos Aires it HAD to be great in this land of many, many great restaurants. Suffice to say I found the food to be excellent and well proportioned. Service was impeccable and the restaurant itself, while small, is wonderfully quaint and borderline exquisite. I enjoyed a mixed "enselada del campo" that was quite good though not exceptional. The rolls served were typical to the region and just "okay," but the risotto con fungi was outstanding. Quite different than other risotto dishes I've had over the years by the same name but excellent nevertheless. I had a half bottle of the Saint Felicien Malbec that was exquisite and highly recommend. The bill before tip including a bottle of water was 595 pesos, expensive for this town but given the ambience, quality of the wine and level of service...no complaints. I can absolutely recommend this fine local restaurant in the heart of the beautiful Recoleta area. read more

The fresh burrata appetizer was to die for. The deer stuffed ravioli and osso buco risotto were amazing as well. Fresh, tasty and delicious. Good wine list with excellent service. The price was very good in USD, with a good conversion rate plus 10% off. It is a rather formal ambiance, but warm and comfortable at the same time. The prices are overrated for the kind of food they sell. This would be a different kind of restaurant if their food was more fancier; another option is to low the prices. Certainly, the area where is located makes it complicated, because people go with an expectation and gets out with disappointment. I ordered the ravioli and they had so much butter that I left it intact, paid the bill and went to eat somewhere else. Great food and value for lunch menu. The complete meal package included appetizer, entree, wine, dessert with espresso. The food was fresh and extremely tasty, yet simple. I had the tomato and eggplant stack with Mozzarella and a little salad. Excellent! Honey had a mini olive pizza which he enjoyed. The entree was of a very good size. I had fish wrapped with veges and potatoes on the side. Again the flavor was super simple, just lemon juice and mustard. Honey had Risotto with Osso bucco pieces. It also had nicely developed flavor but not much meat. The desserts were hot apple strudel and he had fresh chocolate ice cream with candied oranges. There were many others to choose from. This was one of our best meals here. Total cost for each meal was about $20 USD plus we tipped. By the way, when we arrived the restaurant door was locked! We saw people eating, so we knew it was open, but there was no way in. We knocked on the clear glass door, but no one acknowledged us or came to open the door. Sad. We were ready to leave, even started walking away, when someone finally opened the door. A little odd. As we had lunch, we saw many people confused by the locked door. Perhaps they should address the issue with a note on the door?? Anyway, we're glad we got in. Very nice experience. read more

Loved this place! Wished we lived in Buenos Aires so we could go all the time. We are not red meat eaters and were running into menus with nothing but. This place had options. We had a fantastic experience here, a very memorable lunch on our last day in the city. The food was innovative and delicious and the service impeccable. Been in BA for three nights, and we know good food. This is our favorite restaurant by far. We were greeted at the door, checked in, and shown to a two person table in the back. Great service - 3-4 servers helped us throughout the night, seem less. The artichoke app was great and they had a decent wine list with many Malbecs, etc. Veal Saltimbocca and the Tortelloni di Provola were also very tasty and well done. Excellent Italian restaurant in Recoleta just a few blocks away from the famous cemetery. Ring the bell and they will open the door, reservations recommended. It gets very busy and fills up pretty quick. They have a lunch special that includes app, entrée, wine and dessert for 265 Arg pesos which is a pretty inexpensive price for the quality of the food and the place. Very polite and attentive service. The app was seafood strudel really fesh seafood. For main entrée the broccoli and king crab ravioli. Also I tried the butternut squash totellini, both dishes really fresh and tasty. Good wine list with reasonable prices. Lunch for two with wine about 800 pesos, cheap for what you get. read more

We went to this restaurant for the first time two years ago and it was great then. This time around it was even better than we remembered. Sublime food in a great atmosphere. The Lomo de Vitello Rossini was out of this world. A large veal tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto and cooked exactly as ordered nestled in the best mushroom cream sauce you will ever taste. On the side apples braised in a balsamic reduction that was phenomenal. Ravioli stuffed with broccoli and crab with a basil sauce were great as well. Octopus Carpaccio with a Passion Fruit Vinagrette was the perfect starter. You will enjoy this restaurant a lot. read more

Artichoke hearts in saffron cream starter, Osso Bucco risotto, and Chilean salmon with sautéed spinach was an amazing dinner! Jim enjoyed two fine glasses of Argentinian Malbec. This meal was in our top ten of a lifetime. I highly recommend! Other reviews describe dress code as dressy but on our Thursday night dinner most of the gentlemen were in dress shirts but not coat and tie. Perfect for our touring wardrobe. Waitstaff charming and attentive. We met another couple at the next table for occasional but non intrusive chatting. A lovely evening. We will return during our two week visit. read more
