Great food and excellent service, Ask for Joao and take his recommendations, Gambas and Boquerones were good, the black rice was delicious. It's an obligated stop for spanish food in Bs As

El Burladero was my favorite restaurant during my Argentina trip. Reservations are strongly encouraged and I'm thankful that my new local friend made reservations. He did all the ordering and I ate happily. The restaurant only has a few English menus. My favorites included the chicken and rabbit paella. The portion is HUGE! One paella serves 2-4 people. The seasonings in the paella mixed well together, the dish was hearty. The chicken and rabbit looked more or less the same. I also enjoyed the shrimp scampi, which is different than the American style. There's no pasta, just pure grilled shrimp in a light sauce. The desserts were delicious, particularly the churro. They have an excellent wine selection. Service was fantastic. Communication can be difficult as many of the wait staff spoke minimal English, but with a local at your table, no problemo!

Paella Valenciana - 5/5

If looking for authentic Spanish food in the center of Buenos Aires, there's no better place to go than El Burladero. We dined at 8:00 PM on a Tuesday night and in no time, every table in the restaurant was filled by locals and tourists alike. Food - 5/5. Everything we tried was top-class. Before we ordered, we were treated to a shot of cider and shot of very tasty gazpacho on the house. To start we split the cod croquettes (as they had did not have cod fritters our particular night) which were fried to a perfect golden-brown with the signature fishy and creamy croquette filling. For our entree we split the paella which was definitely the best I've had outside of Spain. The rice was moist and aromatic, the seafood perfectly cooked and the dark-meat chicken added to its richness. After our meal, they came around with some Limoncello as a digestif that cut into the richness of the meal. Drinks- 5/5 I had a very well-made Negroni. Atmosphere - 5/5 Lively ambiance with Spanish-themed wall decals / antiques that give a nice Spanish edge to the restaurant. Service - 3/5 Although our waiter was great, the waitstaff was too small for the number of people dining at a given time. The restaurant could have easily used another waiter or two, as each waiter seemed a bit overstretched, balancing the requests of the many tables he served. Slow service (even for porteno standards) was the only reason I gave 4 stars overall. Note - there is a small cover per person to dine, although the complimentary sips / bread / hor dourves made it one of the covers I was happy to pay.

Great spot for delicious food and ambiance. We had the lamb and rabbit and grilled prawns. Perfect atmosphere and service.

I think the actual English description on the menu was red fruit over cream.

Food is awesome. The staff was a little off the first time I was there. Maybe because I am traveling by myself and asked for the English menu. The wait staff speak very little English so it can be a little challenging. I felt rushed to order. They were friendlier when I went back a few days later. The restaurant was packed and I sat at the bar which was perfect. They started with a shot of tomato gazpacho with a few drops of olive oil. Some of the tapas, like shrimp scampi and squid ink croquette, can be ordered in half servings so you can try more variety. There is a wide selection on the menu to pick including seafood. Most of their dishes are larger servings so it's a lot of food for one person. I thought the prices were reasonable.

We came here just for drinks and dessert. BEST CHURROS EVER. The chocolate mousse was also delicious, but the churros changed my life.

Wonderful Spanish joint. Our paella was just out of this world and the red sangria was delicious (they put cinnamon sticks in it ... FUN).

It is located close to the river and has been around for many years. Nothing fancy, large, open interior with lots of tables. Waiters continually circulate. If you do not know your fish in Spanish, the waiters will help you zero in on what you most likely will like. But is all cases, the seafood was most likely brought in that day and is very fresh. The menu is huge and if you had the time to translate you would get a great grammar lesson. Truly an Buenos Aires go-to experience. Go late, like after 10:30pm so you are around locals, way too early for the tourists. Makes for a better experience.

Because we had the whole place to ourselves, our host spent a bit of time going over their extensive menu. After detailed and fun explanations, we opted for his recommendation of a "tortilla". Although he explained what it was to us, in my mind I'm still thinking of a Mexican style tortilla. Not even close! What we received was a piping hot omelette-ish dish. It was chopped potatoes cooked to a crisp on the outside and egg and chorizo on the inside. Reminded me of an egg skillet ! Because it was so big, we shared it between two of us. Biting into it, it was super crispy on the outside and the flavor of potatoes and eggs was perfect with the chorizo which was not overwhelming. It was so simple, but oh, so delicious!! We paired the tortilla with a bottle of local Malbec and it was heavenly! To be fair, every bottle of Malbec we've had in Argentina has been exquisite! This place is very easy to find, just off a main road and well worth a visit. It was a nicer restaurant with table cloths and nice place settings and thus, was priced accordingly.

Arriving back from Iguaza Falls, we decided to risk a very late dinner here without reservations…read more The uber ride dropped us off and a pleasant employee guided us to the location as we were a bit bewildered as to where the flower shop storefront was located. We loved the florist- yes plenty of fresh flowers in the shop, They opened the walk in fridge door and we walked downstairs to the speakeasy amid the dj spinning records. We were seated at a table and a very pleasant server ( who spoke English) dropped of our menus and took our drink orders. My aperol spritz was refreshing and hubby enjoyed his cocktail too. Our preferences for seafood or veggies allowed our server to make recommendations that were amazing. The complimentary sourdough bread was devoured- it had been a long 24 hrs without much food - another story! The crab empanada was large enough to share and was AMAZINGLY yummy. No wonder it is one of the most ordered dishes. Hubby loved his anchovy crostini, the BBQ shrimp - delicious, and we shared the argula salad- also a winner. Not much wait for an Uber back to our Airbnb at 1am- time to prepare for tomorrow's departure. Hope to return in the future!

We came on a Friday around 6:30 PM and were seated right away. The vibe was calm enough to hold a conversation, though we were told that around 9:30 PM a DJ comes on and the energy shifts. After walking through the flower shop, a host led us through a hidden door and down a flight of stairs into the bar. The menu is extensive, so it took us a few minutes to decide, but our cocktails arrived quickly. Presentation is simple with no flashy garnishes, yet the drinks were crystal clear and incredibly balanced. They were so good we finished them fast. Highly recommend the Yvy Maraey (14,800 ARS)!

If you don't see anyone, try ringing the doorbell to the right. We stopped by on a Friday night without a reservation and the place was fully booked, but the restaurant was able to rustle up a couple extra stools and seat us at the back bar. We were then invited to sit at the main bar when enough places opened up. The staff really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. When they noticed us puzzling over the Spanish menus, they quickly rounded up some English translations. The cocktail menu, though, is in Spanish only, and Google translate wasn't much help. Noticing our distress, the bartender, who spoke excellent English, explained that the menu titles were Argentine slang words and happily explained the sense of the groupings. He then helped us pick some great unique cocktails based on what we told him we liked. All of the food was great. My favorite was the roasted tomato side, which also included broccoli and some kind of crunch topping. I wish all veggies tasted this good! The lamb empanadas offered a gourmet twist on a classic Argentine staple. The melted Camembert with grapefruit and tomatoes, while not my favorite, was refreshingly different. A word of warning: the "platitos", meaning little plates, aren't like the little tapas back home. Be careful not to over-order. I'd start with one platito and one side and go from there. Sit at the bar if you want to meet some of the locals!

I had two drinks one with grape juice honey and vodka and another one a bloody Mary like with grilled tomatoes and beets. The bartenders and overall staff were amazing, caring and dropped their current task to serve beers and cocktails or food. That grabbed our attention. Patrons were utmost importance. Even hostess went out of her way from arrival to departure she was so nice. The place is not cheap but very well worth it. Good value for the night. If I get picky I think DJs could play songs w actual lyrics current or older popular bands not just elektronica. Restrooms clean as they can be. There is a semi open terrace 3rd floor that is nice too. But we spent the night on main bar second floor. Also great semi open kitchen to watch plates go out. I definitely would be back. Good value!
