Amazing authentic Italian restaurant located in Buenos Aires! I discovered this place after asking our hotel where a good place to go eat dinner was within walking distance. The hotel recommended Amici Miei. We walked to the other end of the little plaza and located this cute little Italian restaurant on the second floor with some balconies over looking the plaza with tables. The location is spectacular. Very quaint, old school feel inside an old building. The balconies are small but hold table for 4. On a nice day like when we went (it was about 85 degrees F) was nice to look outside onto the plaza and people watch. As we ordered food, the quality of the dishes were top notch. Everything was fresh and tasted superb. The flavours were rich, not salty, not over/under cooked. All the dished that came out were nice and hot and tasted amazing. The bread served was fresh, crunchy outside, soft inside with butter and some red wine. This place if you didn't know you were sitting in Buenos Aires, you'd think you were in Italy! Service was great, very prompt and nice. As with any Argentine or foreign restaurant, you have to ask for your bill if you want to leave, otherwise they just let you be. Overall, I do believe this place is truly 5 star rating, food, quality, taste, ambiance and service. You won't be disappointed if you go here and the price point is very good for the food, amount and quality. read more

I was in the mood for some Italian food and this place was very close to where I was staying. It's almost directly across from Plaza Dorego. I arrived right when they opened at 8 and was the only one there until a few people trickled in around 8:30 or so. By the time I left at 9:15, more people were arriving. I'd expect by 10, it would be packed. Before my meal arrived, they brought out a basket of garlic bread, focaccia and breadsticks with a garbanzo bean spread. I also ordered a cold Patagonia cerveza while I waited for my main course. I had green Papardelle pasta with mushrooms, bacon and cherry tomatoes in a light olive oil type sauce. It was very enjoyable as compared to a heavy cream sauce. The only thing missing was some parmesan cheese, which was provided before my meal arrived. Unlike most every other dinner I've had in BA, I left feeling satisfied, not like I was about to burst! The service was stellar and very friendly. I was excited to eat here after reading the great reviews, but found the actual experience to be average at best. The location is great, with a balcony that overlooks San Telmo plaza. The service is also good. But the food is just average bordering on bland. Nothing exceptional. The prices as of February 2020 had doubled from the menu that I had found in a previous review from November of 2019. Overall, I feel like this place is a bit of a tourist trap - not terrible, but nothing great. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. We loved it so much had to do it again! The mushroom salad with literally shock your palette. The squid ink pasta and beef spaghetti (not sure of the name) was full of flavor leaving you satisfied but not heavy I knew we were in the right place when the server was visibly excited going over menu options! read more

Went here on a Thursday night after arriving at our hotel (the Anselmo, across from the plaza) around 10pm. When we walked in, only three tables were full...when we left, 9 were full (such is Argentina). We felt a bit underdressed since we just got off an airplane, but were warmly welcomed by the staff and quickly supplied with some excellent soft bread and olive oil. I had the spaghetti arrabiata while my wife had the spinach ravioli. Both dishes were some of the best Italian we've ever had - the pasta was fresh and homemade, the sauce was rich (and gently spicy, in the case of the arrabiata, and the portions were perfectly-sized. The ambiance was very romantic and quiet and the entire meal came out to about $20 USD. I love Argentina. read more

Liked it so much we came back a second night in a row. First night we ordered the eggplant parmigiana starter....amazing. I asked if they'd do a half portion of pasta and they agreed. We had the spaghetti with porcini and shrimp, the raviolis filled with spinach and beef (amazing!) and a giant "cannoli" stuffed with pork and spinach. Not as great as the other dishes but still good. A respectable Malbec by the glass and a tasty volcano cake. Next night we returned for the eggplant parmigiana again...it did not disappoint. Tonight's pastas were spaghetti with beef sauce and fresh mushrooms-very good, Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and hot peppers---good but not as spicy as expected, and penne with and arribiatta sauce and shrimp...delicious. Friendly staff and a menu in English make this a good solid choice when you are tired of all the fabulous Argentine steak! read more

The pasta was hard and the service was horrible. When we addressed the issue with the managers they were also rude. For six people, the food took 3 hours, and therefore our day was cut short. Terrible service, aggressive and disrespectful staff, were here for 3 HOURS. La pasta salio dura y el servicio fue terrible. Los jefes fueron groceros cuando nos quejamos. Por 6 personas, nos quedamos 3 horas (ni si quiera pedimos risoto), y la pasta al dente salio cruda. Hubs and I were staying at the Hilton Curio off of Plaza Dorrego and wanted dinner some place close to our hotel. Ok and behold, this place was right across the plaza from us. We got there at 7pm and of course, no one was there yet, which was good because we didn't have a reservation and knew from the night before that it gets super crowded the later in the evening you come. We started off with three different kinds of bruschetta, all of which were *amazingly* good (one was a classic tomato and mozzarella variety, the other was topped with delicious mushrooms, and the third was topped with arugula and prosciutto). Hubs had the cannelloni, which he liked, and I had a simple spaghetti with olive oil and garlic. The pasta was well salted and perfectly al dente. I absolutely cannot say enough about how good everything was. If you're in this neighborhood, you'll enjoy a sublime dinner here. Highly, highly recommended! read more

This little spot was charming! Just down a few doors from my hotel (the Telmho Hotel at Defensa 1086). No wait, not really any other patrons on a Tuesday night at 8:30 pm. I ordered the Spaghetti Ragu and the Sauvignon Blanc, which ran me a grand total of $19.88 after bread was included. I was especially impressed with the perfect al dente texture and mouth feel of the noodles. I even got one of the tiny patio tables all to myself. read more

I really enjoyed this place, best place in San Telmo to eat after the sunday crafts market. If you want to enjoy freshly made pasta and a bottle of wine this is a great place to stop. This place is a solid Italian option in San Telmo neighborhood. The building is a beautiful building typical of this older part of town located right on plaza Dorrego. Go up the stairs and enjoy the view over the plaza. The menu is pasta only with a little section of secondi piatti. The pasta is naturally home made and especially the filled pasta section has some creative options like buffalo mozzarella and pear ravioli. You can't go wrong here but have in mind that you are in the heart of San Telmo - I.e a tourist mekka. There are so many good options for true argentinian Italian food in this town- just try your nearest trattoria. The pistachio panna cotta was good not great. read more

Great pasta with friendly service. On the second floor above Plaza Dorrego the dining room is comfortable and attractive. I enjoyed the spaghetti with sausage and mushroom ragu. We had an absolute blast at this place. We booked a very small table on the balcony which only seats two people. We had lunch on a Sunday and people watched over looking the market in San Telmo. We had a wonderful Easter we waitress who really tried to communicate with us even though she did not really speaking glitch. Thankfully we spoke some Spanish to get what we wanted and ask for recommendations. The risotto and the homemade pasta with mushrooms were amazing. We also had a great Malbec and a fun dessert. One of the best meals we had in BA. Everything from the food to the service was top-notch and extremely reasonably priced. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming.
