Chicken sandwich with "ginger mint" lemonade. And a salt shaker with coffee beans.

The waiters are kinda unfriendly even if you're conducting the visit in Spanish. Kind of get the impression they don't give a sh.. which is atypical of what I've experienced with the Portenos. Obviously the owner had put some investment into the place so not sure why the staff is so crap for the most part baffles me, maybe treated poorly? But there was one younger make waiter that waa super nice when he delivered my food (no my main server did not serve the food) later I even saw the guy go and clean the messy cheek of some child customer, it was kind of a sweet scene. I wish I snapped a pic of my short kinda chubby shaved head waiter. I think he has to be one of the most unfriendly craptastic waiters I've ever experienced. I didn't hear a single greeting come out of his mouth from the beginning or at the end of the encounter. I would like to think that he was having a bad day but I think that is really his baseline. FOOD The lemonade with ginger and mint was lacking big time just tested like musty South American lemonade with some dirty herb... Or just dirt. They could've at least macerated the ginger and mint. Throwing it on top isn't gonna impart any flavor, later I came to notice a baby roach in it so maybe that's the dirty flavor came from. I brought it to their attention, replaced with sparkling water, no apology by the waiter I informed or the waiter that was serving me. I get it; it's not North America/Europe so bugs in your drink tend to be the norm from time to time, though I don't typically expect that if your at a place that you're paying North American or European prices. Luckily they took off the lemonade from the bill and just charge me for the sparkling water (along with the food of course). They also have these bread baskets, considering it's supposed to be known for baking it would've been great to have tried one. But looking around the restaurant some of the other diners were served the breadbasket however I wasn't, I didn't see it on the menu so I'm not really sure how one qualifies to get it or you just have to ask for it? I will say that my chicken sandwich was pretty good. I like a nice char on the chicken word on the sleeves a superficial jerky texture and the Guacamole was pretty good as well. The potato fries were awful, they were British style and lukewarm, instead of being in slices like fries they were more cut into cubes greasy and soggy. I wanted to try a dessert but given the combination of the food debacle and shitty service by my waiter I opted to not to give the business any more money. I came here based on a recommendation by a local. However when reading the reviews that were in English most of them seem to impart a lukewarm feeling about it. I agree, I wouldn't go out of your way to go to this place and there are plenty plenty better places nearby. I definitely won't be going back and I definitely will inform my friends & family traveling to Buenos Aires to avoid this place.

Don't let the picture fool you...this place is way more than just pastries.

Staff is friendly, but obviously do not expect service to be as fast as in the US.

Gleaming new, done up in Halloween black and orange (all the chairs carefully alternated at each…read moretable). It's fairly dark inside, though there's seating out front and a patio in the back. The counter to order from is towards the back of the place - a kind of odd design, as you have to walk through one seating area, past the bathrooms and a stairway heading to an upstairs area, and you still can't see the counter until you're past all those, because it's tucked behind a wall back by the kitchen. You place your order and are given one of those more and more ubiquitous hockey pucks that vibrate and buzz when your order's ready. They fry to order here, and warn you it will be about 15 minutes... it was more like 25, despite being the only order they were making at the time. So, what I liked most about the leg-thigh combo were the fries and the coleslaw. (230 pesos/$6.25 without beverage.) The former are cut in a long, sort of channel, or canoe shape, and are nicely crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, as they should be. The latter, for a change here in BA, not sweet, but made "right". The two mini-arepas were just okay - kind of chewy. The dipping sauce for the chicken is a big pass - basically tasted like a honey-garlic salad dressing. So, on to the main event, the chicken. First off, over-fried, you can see it's bordering on burnt in places. The chicken inside was still juicy, but unseasoned. My guess is they don't marinate it or brine it, or even dust it with some spices before coating it in flour and egg - I'd guess, double coated. And the coating is seasoned, as best I could tell, with just salt, and just edging to too much. The skin and batter aren't really crispy, they're kind of chewy, like the arepas, which is odd, especially given how darkly fried they are - I can only guess that the oil temperature is too low. So, I'm not wowed, but I ate it all, and loved the fries and coleslaw. It gets an "okay". Alright, so not everything this time around was a winner. They claim this as "American style fried chicken", though my bet is that this is really more of a Venezuelan (or maybe Colombian) interpretation of that. Yes, yes, I know those are both in the Americas, but I'm taking their claim as referring to more traditional U.S. norteamericano style, just from the way they phrase it.
