    Avocado Toast with poached egg
    Astrid S.

I came here with my husband for breakfast. I ordered an avocado toast with a poached egg. My husband asked for an Arabic tostado and was told they were out of it. He asked if they had any pastries instead and they were out of that too so he just ordered a coffee. Like in many other cafes in Buenos Aires, we waited a long time for our food. The woman at the table next to us appeared to have ordered the same avocado toast as me which was put down in front of her. She looked at it and sent it back because the egg was very runny. I then watched the waiter take the toast meant for me to the woman next to us. The egg was poached perfectly. Unbelievably they gave me the very same toast she had rejected. Not wanting to wait another 20 mins for a redo, I ate most of it and moved the super runny egg bits to the side. My husband received his coffee and said it was absolutely terrible. Meanwhile they had completely forgotten about the water that we had also ordered. Fed up with the whole situation and the disrespect of giving me someone else's reject, my husband complained to our waiter who shrugged it off like, too bad. No apologies, nothing. Overall the worst experience we had during our week in Buenos Aires.

    Lovely té

French toast was wonderful, chipotle chicken was fresh soft and flavorful, fajitas rancheras were fresh and warm.

This place was so cute it looks like a little Italian cafe. I liked my smoothie, the yogurt bowl and the gf banana bread a lot!

Good food and great service. Nazaeeua, our server, was exceptional and kind. I will stop by Ol'Days when I visit BA in the future.

Food was great. We had two sandwiches and two salads and shared them between four of us. Everything was really good with lots of flavor.

There are two options: in the courtyard or inside in one of the fancy salons of the palace. (Note: When you make an invitation you need to tell them whether you want to eat inside or out.) We were in the courtyard and it was lovely. The food was lighter, international food. Maybe it's Nouveau Argentine? We each had amazing salads accompanied by lovely wine. The service seemed a little, um, stressed. Even our Argentine guests were a little irritated at times and Argentines do not appear to complain at restaurants -- ever. As we were leaving, the hostess asked if we want to see the two dining rooms inside the palace. Don't miss it. The inside is beautiful. One caution: if you're going to eat in the courtyard, put on some insect repellant. BA has a bumper crop of mosquitos this year.

The staff were very friendly given we were Americans which is always a toss up at places like this overseas. Our waite helped me pick out a great Chardonnay to pair with the handfull of items we ordered including the tatine tasting plate, a gorgeous garden burratta salad and the famous Argentine Choripán (braised pork shoulder sandwhich). I only wish I had room for dessert.. and just be prepared to fend off the hungry pigeons that attempt to steal a bite occasionally.

We arrived for a 2p lunch and the room was lovely. The menu consisted of a cold buffet and menu items of the day. My friends ordered the buffet and 2 of us ordered the 'Loma de Pesca'. Our fish order showed up 20 minutes later as sliced filets of Lomo de Res. The waiter was profusely apologetic and stated his mind confused the meat with the fish. 35 minutes later, still no fish, but complimentary glasses of champagne for the delay. At the 45 minute mark, the fish arrived. More apologies and we noted the sauce on the fish had already congealed, so it had been sitting awhile. Coffee with some complimentary dessert bites. Sadly, the elegance and service I remembered was very much lacking. As a 'bonus', 20 minutes after leaving L'Orangerie, someone charged $1200 USD on plane tickets to Chile on the CC I had just used at the restaurant.
