This place is near my hotel and I walked by it several times as I went to my "favorite" steakhouses, but one evening, I decided to try it because I was close and it was late. We got here at 9:30 and the place was packed, but there was a couple leaving and we got that table. The place is small, cramped and bright, but very popular among the locals. We ordered Empanadas, ribeye and lamb, as well as a nice bottle of Malbec. Service was great, the place was loud and boisterous and I felt like a local! Totally distasteful. - The bife de chorizo did not have even a hint of seasoning, I mean salt. - The Parrillada was more fat than anything else. We were not even asked how we wanted the meat. Came here for our first meal in Buenos Aires, since it was near our hotel. It was about 12:30, and wasn't busy when we arrived but got busier later. We tried two empanadas - pollo and jamon y queso. Both were tasty but I personally enjoyed the jamon y queso better for the flavor. For meats, we got the chorizo, rib eye steak and entrana cuts (medium rare). We also got a side of fries and a bottle of wine. Meats were grilled perfectly and had good flavor. Our waiter was also super patient with us as we tried to decide. This was our first night in town and we decided to give this place a try after reading several reviews for various places within walking distance from our hotel. This place definitely had a laid back local feel and did not disappoint. It did not feel touristy at all and the prices were quite reasonable. About $16 for a one pound fillet mignon. If you like no thrills steak at a bargain this is your place. If you come before 8:30pm you will get a seat immediately but the place started to get busy with larger groups after 9pm. The server helped us navigate the extensive wine menu and made a nice recommendation for a bottle of local red wine for us. We started with the smoked ham appetizer. The ham was salt cured and perfect. Not too salty and not too fatty just right. For the entree I opted for the Fillet and my girlfriend picked the Loin entree with mushroom sauce and potatoes. Both entrees were lovely and my steak had a nice char flavor you can tell things were cooked over charcoal. Since the steaks are a la carte here and don't come with any sides I ordered a side of Fries with mayo. Perfect side for this meal. For dessert I opted for the ice cream coated in almonds and my girlfriend went with the pancake with strawberry ice cream on it. It came with burnt liquor that was ignited tableside by our lovely server a nice finish. All in all a great value with a laid back local feel ans attentive service with Argentinian home cuisine I can highly recommend! read more

The service and food here were excellent. We were not rushed at all; in fact, we were invited to take our time before courses. We enjoyed some delicious vegetable empanadas along with smoked peppers along with our cocktails. Delicious. Our entrees included two of the specials with sauces and potatoes and onions and a ribeye with mashed potatoes. Everything was wonderful. I was glad that I avoided filling up on the crunchy bread and marinated sauces brought to the table. Our waiter was a young man who appreciated my practicing my Spanish as much as he practiced his English. This restaurant was off the beaten path but not far from our apartment.
