We ordered delivery from this place and they missed my husbands entire meal. We tried calling several times to address the issue and they didn't answer the phone. So they basically ripped us off of a meal. The food we did receive was bland and mediocre. I couldn't even finish the food. The carne asada was so dry it hurt my mouth to eat. I ended up tossing everything. Enjoy the donation. I hate writing this horrible review during such times but I feel cheated. read more

I will eat here again. My husband and I love Mexican food. We came to love it while living in Atlanta, where there is a lot of Mexican, Peruvian, Salvadorian, etc food. This food is okay, and to be honest, each entree is priced about 10-20% too high for what it is (and we are from a big city, so it isn't like we are unaware of city mark up). The fish tacos *need* an acid element. A lime sauce, something. It is too much fish for too little taste. I'll be trying the street tacos next time. read more

Came to this place for a birthday lunch and overall this place was pretty great! Chips and salsa were abundant and filled almost instantly and service of the staff was great on refills and getting orders put in especially the house margaritas. But as far as the food was concerned, it was pretty decent food but nothing over the top and memorable. They definitely had good dishes like their shrimp dip and la tolteca steak ranchero. But it didn't stand out too much compared to other decent Mexican joints. However, I would recommend for the strength of the margaritas alone and for the food afterwards! read more

Absolutely terrible Mexican food. The beer was cold and they do have a happy hour in the bar area, so that is a plus. Staff is friendly and they earned a second star for that. I tried the place a few times, but just can't stand bland ground beef for taco's enchiladas, etc. limited effort is put into the actual food. I do have high standards for Mexican food having grown up in Los Angeles and should cut them a break, yet I couldn't even force myself to eat the soggy taco and nasty enchilada I ordered tonight. Last time I tried the fajitas and those were mediocre, but definitely better than anything with ground beef. Someone should teach them how to make a taco. read more

Love this place! Great food and great service! I love the way they make the guacamole right at your table. My go to favorite is the fish tacos or the beef and chicken fajitas. The regular salsa isn't spicy, but you can request the green chile salsa at no extra charge. read more

My family and I love it here! Their menu is pretty big, and if you're looking for authentic Mexican they can do that for you (like legit tacos, yay!) but if you're looking for more Americanized food, they'll do that too. It has a great environment, I've always had good service (in the past year I've probably been there like 4 or 5 times) and their drinks are pretty good (just not a whole lot of variety). So as someone who travels back and forth to Aberdeen on a regular basis this has been one of my favorite places to have a drink and dinner. However, I am astonished at how things have changed in the bar area lately. First, the service is super slow. Last night I went in thave dinner at the bar. I first ordered a margarita and then attemtpted to order sinner. I placed an order for street tacos and a side of queso. "Sorry, we have no queso". How do you run out of queso.. Soni cancelled my order. Kept waiting for chips and slasa but after about 20 min I asked if I could get cios and salsa and again, "Sorry, we are out of chips". Really, so then I ask about all the menu items on the menu that come with queso know top. I am told they just serve then without the queso. I took two drinks of my $14 margarita and left. They really need to get someone to properly manage this place unless they just don't care. I miss the regulars that used to work the bar here. read more

I was very excited to visit the new location in Aberdeen. But what a disappointment. We waited for 15 minutes before a server even acknowledged us and it went downhill from there! Our meals, which took 45 minutes to arrive, were served after 4 tables that had arrived after we did. I had to call the server over to inquire as to when our meals might be delivered. Once the food came, I never received the tortillas that were essential for my fajitas and the server never came to check on us. I have never had such terrible service! We will stick to visiting the Churchville location from now on. read more

The white sauce was bad. I asked the waiter if he made a mistake and had giving us ranch dressing for dip and he said no that it was their white sauce. We asked for queso instead but it tasted like cheap melted cheese. I ordered a Chile relleno and was not good either. The Chile didn't have the batter and the cheese filling was not good on top of that it was smothered on enchilada sauce. Never returning here. read more

This used to be a great place for lunch, and I've been coming to the local La Toltecas forever. The food is pretty good at this location but the big draw at least for me were the chips which they recently changed the policy on. Now there is a 2 basket limit per table regardless of your party size. It may not be a big deal for some but since the chips were a large part of the reason I came I probably will be coming a lot less often with all of the other lunch options around. read more

A decent place for typical east coast style Mexican food. The speedy Gonzales was a little over priced, but the food was good. The white dip presented with the salsa tastes alot like miracle whip. The salsa is kind of plain and lacked depth of flavor. My friend got the street tacos and they looked on point, so I know what I will be ordering next time. La Tolteca is a pretty good restaurant, and this location has gotten much better with their service since they opened earlier this year. There were times previously when my friends and I would have to wait over a half hour just for our drinks during lunchtime, but they've definitely gotten a good rhythm down - now, we can be in and out in less than 45 minutes. I always get the chicken chimichanga which is always amazing. Their cheese dip is awesome also, and I get this every time I go. That being said, my one complaint with this place lies with the dip itself. When I first started going here, the cheese dip would come out in a pretty decent sized bowl - for 3 bucks, I thought that it was a pretty fair price for a large portion. However, several months ago, I noticed that the bowls started getting smaller and smaller...and then when I went a month ago, the dip came out in a little container that resembled a shot glass. For 3 bucks?! I don't think so. I went again today, and my friend and I both ordered the dip and it came out in a medium-sized container. I don't know if they close their eyes and point to the bowls that they'll be using for it that day, but they need to adjust the cost of it so that there's some type of standard. Other than that, I really enjoy this place! UPDATE: My friend and I went to La Tolteca last week, and we asked the waitress about the variations in size of the cheese dip. She leans into us and goes, "No matter the size, the same amount of cheese is in each container." Um, sorry...unlike my coat, I didn't check my brain at the door. A shot glass sized dish won't have the same amount contained as a medium-sized salsa dish would. So I asked her, "Well what about the large bowl?" Her response? "Well no, there's more in that one." "But you guys charge $3.00 for ALL of the size variations?" "Uhh, yes we do." "Ok then, I'll order the largest bowl you have then, since they're all the same price." "One and done!" First time trying, last time going. Chips and salsa, enjoyed the homemade chips but the salsa, "No way Jose!" Too much soapy cilantro taste. I ordered a house specialty - 2 Beef Chimichangas. The beef is beef tips, which I was excited about (you may also order chicken). There was something in it that I did not care for. Chili con queso (light) was on top of the chimichangas and came with lettuce (not shredded), one tomato slice, sour cream, and refried beans. Didn't like the beans at all. Wanted the food to be good, I really did. Ordered "Xangos" for dessert. It's fried cheesecake in dough, with ice cream. How could that not be good? I don't know... If it had been enjoyable, the price of $19.06 would've been good. The restaurant is not very clean. Hint: If you eat in and dust bothers you, don't sit by a window - So Much Dust! This is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant! The white salsa served with chips is out of this world! I consistently have propmpt, attentive, and courteous service. The portion sizes are large, and the prices are very reasonable. The bar area is separated from the dining area which is a plus! If you love Mexican food you should definitely stop in! read more

Below average for Mexican places. Gets overrated since it started in the bel air area and was the only really local Mexican restaurant. The food (especially the ground beef) is not grade A. Once ordered a chicken taco and the bones were in the taco. Yes bones plural. Found this place for lunch one day and decided to try it for dinner. Unfortunately although the food was good the atmosphere was awful. The Ravens game was on and there was a large group of very obnoxious and drunk fans yelling and screaming obscenities I felt as if I was in some corner pub listening to the F bomb being used with regularity by both the males and females. At one point they began trying to pick a fight with the family at the table next to them and the wait staff and management did nothing but continue to serve them alcohol . Very food mexican cuisine. Located at the La Quinta Inn in Aberdeen, very close to APG. They offer "coupons" on restaurant.com where you spend a certain amount and get a discount taken off. Not a good night at La Tolteca. So we are seated pretty quickly and it went downhill from there. My wife orders a virgin margarita. It took some going back an fourth to get that right. The waiter didn't understand English. My wife asked him about the Fajitas, what's on them, he kept saying "yea, yea". We finish ordering dinner. It arrives and the waiter quickly disappears - no utensils; and no shells for my Carne Asada. Have to ask for things that should be there, again. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. The carne looks like the loser at Delaware Park. I was ready for some Flan, waiting, waiting, waiting, finally our waiter appears. I order Flan. This dude took forever. Maybe I'm watching way too much Mystery Diners or Kitchen Impossible but, with the worst waiter and marginal food, next time I'm going to Taco Bell. read more

Not a mexican food fan but my daughters are so decided to try it out. Loved it!! The decor is cheerful. The waiter was new but so funny which made it so nice. They make the guacamole right in front if you. I got the taco salad and would certainly order again. Definitely will go again. read more

Chips and salsa are great. I've tried several dishes before I posted this review. It started below average but all in all, every dish was very good. The food and the drinks were great, but I had to only give three stars because of the ambiance. They had satellite radio on for the entire place to hear, and you know it is unedited.
