We are visiting family and decided to give La Tolteca a try. I'm glad we did! The food was delicious authentic Mexican style. Rich and hearty with a lot for the money. Service was quick and friendly. The decor was authentic Mexican designs, pictures, colors and full of life. La Tolteca has many menu options, even for vegans. Plenty of parking, fast friendly service and we were checked on often. Great prices too.

Had a Quick and affordable lunch. They have several options for lunch combos. Also good for taco Tuesday. Great drinks.

The food lacked flavor and didn't live up to expectations. Customer service felt a bit inattentive. Overall, it didn't feel worth the price. The bar area seemed lively though, so maybe that's the highlight of the place.

Margarita sucks. Food sucks. Don't come here. Marg is out of a machine so don't expect flavor or tequila. I added a shot of rail silver & it still sucked. Chili Verde is not in a green chili sauce but a tomatillo sauce. The sauce is hot but the pork chunks are not. The beans are terrible & the rice is tasteless. Service? I sat at the bar. The man was nice the woman was not. No redeeming feature.

Beautiful Mexican restaurant!! There are multiple locations around Aberdeen and this is my 1st time eating here. I came in with my coworkers for lunch on a Thursday and everyone ordered something. This location wasn't busy when we walked in so we were seated right away. There were no complaints. Everything was made well, especially the fresh guacamole! The waiter was patient and took care of us well. The food came out all at once but within 15 minutes. We had a party of 8 people and no ones food was late. I'm not fond of restaurant water here in Aberdeen though. It tastes like clorox so I brought my own water bottle. The ambiance was gorgeous with the many colorful paintings and cultural music. We all enjoyed our experience and some of our group are actually return customers. I would come here again for sure.

This place was just a quick stop in for what I expected to be sub-par or average at best "hometown"…read morestyle Mexican American food on my UHaul drive back to Nashville, TN where we have maybe two really consistent Mexican American/homestyle Mexican food spots. The salsa was the first thing tipping me off that we'd stumbled upon was likely a local gem. It's not so thick that I think it's a tomato paste concoction. Tastes like real home made from scratch salsa. Not too much but a very nice kick to it. Peppery, oniony, refreshing punch of lime. The queso hit everything I wanted and wasn't just plain cheese nor was it gritty or plastic-y. Tasted exactly like I expected! Smoky peppers did a lot for flavor here. I was sad not finding my regular burrito from this kinda of establishment. A simple beef burrito smothered in a red sauce of some variety with rice and beans. I asked the server if there was a smothered burrito and he informed me that the combo deal was what I was looking for. In which I got two burritos, rice and beans. The red sauce that my two burritos came smothered in was rich, tangy, oniony and was still nicely acidic from the tomato. You can really tell they taste their food. Burrito Loco that my accomplice ate was also really good. Maybe a little more salt on the veg but that's coming from someone notorious for over salting fries at work. I love salty food, so that's just a personal taste thing. The service was amazing. It all came together when I went into the bathroom, though. It was so clean that it snapped the whole picture together of why this place is so surprisingly good. It's staff genuinely cares about their place of work. Kitchen and front of house alike, everything here was impeccable. You can tell there are people here invested in their workplace. Highly recommend stopping in or frequenting if possible. They had a fun looking drink menu, I just forgot to order my agua fresca Jamaica, so I'm sorry to say I can't report on that.

So I opted not to go because I wanted to experience their atmosphere, customer service and food on a normal day of operation. Fast forward to the evening after Cinco de Mayo. I came in and I was kindly greeted, and since I was flying solo I went to the bartender was quick to greet me, got my chips and salsa to me (which is on the house), and took my drink order. The music was very festive on the inside, the wraparound bar is a nice touch, and the atmosphere overall definitely sets a vibe. I ordered some queso dip cause, why not and it paired nicely with the salsa. I then proceeded to order the Quesabirria Taco dish that was phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend. The birria consommé that comes with it, it so good so dip those tacos like your tastebuds depend on it. To say the least I am glad I went there the day after Cinco de Mayo and while I'm sure it was a vibe itself, I don't think I would have quite gotten the service and experience I did when they are operating on a normal day. All good things in moderation I guess‍.

We arrived at 4:50 and didn't get seated because the hostess was juggling phone calls. Our server didn't arrive at the table until 5:02 and we asked about happy hour. Bottom line we didn't beat the bewitching hr./5pm. They do not offer chips and salsa as a welcome snack. Their food over our past dinings has never been great. Tonight I had a pastor burrito and my wife had a shrimp burrito. Both dishes were meeh with a rubbery like tortilla. The best dish we have had is their bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. We're going to try different dining but if you go, Get those poppers.

Our waitress was friendly and quick enough, but it did seem to take awhile for our food to come out once ordered and a while for the check when we were done.. (They were busy not packed). It is nice they serve a breakfast/brunch menu - not a lot of Mexican places do that. I ordered the Pollo con Rajas. The onion cream sauce was fantastic, black beans great, rice (arroz blanco) okay- it had great flavor and I don't mind a little crunch, but there's a fine line between crunch and dried out, and this was getting close. My husband said he couldn't complain about his Enchiladas Verde, but he didn't have any glowing response either. Overall, the food isn't bad, it's that it's a bit overpriced for what you get. Free chips and salsa (it is $5, and the chips are fried leftover flour tortillas that either puff and crumble to bits, or burn), or even throwing in a few flour tortillas with a meal with about 5oz of chicken if I'm being generous, would round out the meal, and make you feel you got more of your moneys worth overall. That said, I didn't leave hungry.

I think my husband enjoyed his burger although it was pretty heavy. The bathroom had half a dozen stalls and was fairly clean. The food isn't cheap. A fountain soda was about $4. The fried ice cream was $8. The service was decent. I'm not sure how authentic the food is but we had an overall good time and would probably be back, budget willing.
