We had a fantastic lunch at La Taverna del Duca during our tour bus's all-too-brief stop in Amalfi. We were excited to try Spaghetti al Limone since lemons are the taste of the region (get yourself some Limoncello, people!) and this place was the only one we found in the center of town which offered it. Timing was a little tough (not their fault) as we were there in the late morning and they didn't start serving until noon, and pizza making doesn't start for an hour after that...but knowing this we managed to get in first and ordered what we wanted. What we wanted was the aforementioned Spaghetti al Limone which really was fantastic...lemony without being overpowering and done without the use of cream, but still creamy and delicious. I saw another review stating to not order the Spaghetti al Limone because it's just "pasta with lemon juice." This really isn't the case at all. (Look up any pasta al Limone recipe and you'll see for yourself.) This was delicious and definitely a perfect taste representative of the region we were in. The mixed salad was fresh looking and tasting with the surprise and welcome addition of shaved fennel in it. The offering of bread that came with it was generous. We also especially appreciated how their menu was clearly labeled with what was vegeterian. (And there were plenty of options.) The only slight bummer was, even though we were first in, it took a long time to get our food and we had to rush to eat it to make it back to our bus in time. We ate here during our trip to Almafi in Italy. We ordered their special lobster spaghetti. While the spaghetti itself was delicious. The half lobster it came with was nothing more than a shell of a lobster. There was no meat at all that was in the spaghetti. We were truly disappointed. Was really craving some lemon pasta and was able to find it here. The workers were very nice but they did mess up our wine order. It's okay it was still good. Cute outside near the middle of Amalfi. Lemon pasta was delicious and pretty filling. They gave us bread and brought out a side of cheese! Good place for lemon pasta if you want it! read more

We stomped on this location by mistake. Originally we wanted to eat at Cartari but they were too snobby! So we opted for this unknown GEM. The Big guy, was really professional, he suggested us a great bottle of white wine and then made us a warm Seafood Salad which was Divine. Balanced yet Flavorful. Then we ordered a Spaghetti al Limone which my lovely half devoured, I had Linguine agli Scampi, Amazing. We do not understand the lower rating of this place, but surely deserve 5 Stars for the food. Good food. Service for me and wife was rather hasty and not very welcoming and I speak Italian well. Of course the location is in the middle of the Amalfi tourist trap district. So the perfunctory attitude and hastiness is part and parcel of the domain. We ate fish, pasta, local wine, desserts. We enjoyed all. The Italian couple sitting at the neighboring table ordered a big pizza. It looked and smelled wonderful. I'd eat here again despite the tourist trap location, the insane crowd and rushed service. This is a perfect little restaurant in Amalfi. We arrived for lunch at 12:00 on a Friday. We were quickly seated, with drinks and bread arriving soon after. We heard the pasta limone was exceptional and we agree. The pasta was perfect al dente with the best lemon butter sauce. My husband had the gnocchi and it was perfect. Cloud like pillows of dough in a fresh tomato sauce. The portions were hearty but we found our food here was some of the best of our Amalfi coast tour. read more

We ate here for lunch today because a shop keeper recommended it. We got the last table outdoors. The waiters mostly ignored us for a while and finally one that seemed like the bus boy took our drink order and brought wine and bread. Finally, the waiter who was fawning all over the Italians at the next table took our order for clam spaghetti. It finally arrived and the clams were very small, with half of them either empty or unopened. The sauce was good, but the amount of clams was sparse. Then it took another 20 minutes to get the check. They charge a 2.5 Euro cover charge per person. So we paid 55 Euros for 2 glasses of house wine and 2 servings of marginal pasta a la Vongole. Not something we enjoyed and not something we will recommend. read more

Two words: tourist trap. The big man was very short and pushy with us - aka rude. I originally ordered a cod pasta but he said no it's a two ppl minimum (we were a party of two) and instead said we should order the st Andrews fish "muah delicioso"... But it was also a two person minimum....Market price. Interesting. We asked him for wine recommendations between two whites and he just grabbed the menu and walked away...We had to call him back to order a wine which he was very pushy about. Then the much hyped st Andrews pasta fish came out and it was hardly edible. The pasta was al dente, OK... But the fish was chewy fatty thick and inedible. Photo as attached. My wife got the "Scialatielli allo Scoglio" freshly made pasta with mix of seafood (my wife stated the best she ever had) and I had the "Spaghetti alla Carbonara" made with eggs and pecorino cheese and it was so fresh and good!!! I was visiting the town with the cruise and it was the last stop before we go back home to San Diego. It was three in the afternoon and we went to two other restaurants and they said the were closed till seven. I dont get it the town is packed with tourists and you close at three? So went to the busiest place in the square and were dying to eat some good iItalian pasta. We sit down and this big Italian guy comes over and asks us what we want, we tell him we dont know and he said we have a special for spagethi and lobster for two people 46 euros. We thought that was fair. Let me tell you we had the best meal we had on our whole trip. I am only writing this review so that hopefully I can help others. Try it you wont go wrong. For main course we had gnocchi with cheese and walnuts which was delicious and a grilled steak which was ok. Finally we ended our meal with a delicious goat cheese with lemon honey and some lemon ice cream. Overall a great food experience and we would definitely recommend it!
