Don't be Deterred by the location, You must climb all the steps to this beautiful place. The cuisine does not disappoint! First time in Ravello we'd heard about Mimi's. It was difficult to decide what to try so we tried a bit of everything!! Not much over 20 Euros. Wait staff was very polite and made the experience so special. During our time in Ravello, we decided to have a group dinner, and someone recommended Mimi's. The restaurant is located along one of the winding alleys of Ravello, requiring a short walk to get there, but it's definitely worth the effort. The food is excellent, the dining area is beautifully decorated, and the staff are friendly and enjoyable to interact with. We visited twice and shared a variety of pizzas and salads each time. Probably our favorite meal in Ravello. When looking through Yelp, there's limited options (200+ reviews w/ 4-5 stars) but this place has 4.5 reviews with just around 200 reviews. We called to make reservations and were surprised they had availability. While in Italy, in case you can't get availability in restaurants for dinner: try eating before 7pm. Most people including tourists in Italy were eating dinner at 830pm so there's less availability after 8pm. Ordered a salad to share, and a pizza and pasta to share. Family stopped here halfway through our Italian vacation we stopped here while in Ravello. The Pizza was excellent. My wife had the zucchini pizza and she said that it was the best pizza in her life. Mine was the vegan Super Marinara with fresh tomatoes (yellow and red). Definitely one of the best pies in my life. My daughter enjoyed the pork dish with carmelized onions over greens. Ravello is a town up in the mountains on the Amalfi Coast. Quaint little town with narrow walkways.. Mimi's is awesome.. hands down the best Italian food you will have on the Amalfi coast. Nothing super fancy, just fresh ingredients prepared perfectly. I have had linguine with white clam sauce a hundred times.. Never have I had anything even remotely close to this one. There was parmesan puree on the bottom of the dish.. with dabs of pesto on top. Best thing I have ever eaten.. Mimi might have served us some of the best Italian food we ate on the Amalfi coast. We sat outdoors which is covered but could probably use some heat lamps cause everyone including us had their jackets on. The waiter was super helpful in helping us select food/drinks. My friend got the calzone and said it was the best thing she's eaten on our trip, we had been in Italy for 4 days at this point. After visiting the two villas in Ravello we were starved and glad we stumbled on this place. It was one of the top three meals we had in Italy. For a casual restaurant in a majorly tourist city, I have to give Mimì 5 stars. If it's during the majorly heavy tourist months for dinner, do make a reservation. If it's not..we walked in and put our names down for about a 45 minute wait. Grab a cocktail at the tiny bar - there's something for everyone, though I suggest getting something with limoncello in it. The prices here are insanely good. A pizza, two mains, a bottle of fantastic riserva wine, and one dessert came to 75 euro. Amazing. The service was attentive, sweet, and never rushed. Our waiter recommended a delicious Aglianico wine to enjoy and it turned out to be a great recommendation. Okay, another shoutout to the servers for expertly handling a constantly packed house without rushing anyone out the door. Let's talk about the food...a pizza here should not be missed. They are of the individual size but are big enough to share. We went with a delicious burrata and ham pizza. For our mains, I had to try their sausage and smoked provolone wrapped in some kind of lemony leaf, and the hubby had their deliciously simple spaghetti in olive oil with crushed taralli. I was not going to skip the almond and limoncello torta..and it did not disappoint! In fact, I am inspired to try making one at home. We were driving along the Amalfi coast when for whatever reasons, we saw all these signs with the word "Ravello" on it. R decided to just go for it and visit Ravello. We had never heard of this town anymore but once we got here, I was so enchanted. It's such a magical place. We parked our car in the parking lot in the road beneath the entrance to Ravello. We spent our time exploring the town and just oohing and ahhing over everything. There were so many stray cats too, loved it! We decided to grab dinner in Ravello because we were so far from everything. We ended up at Mimi because R was craving pizza. We went right when Mimi was open and imagined our surprise when there were already nearly 10 people in line! And not only that, but the restaurant also told us that they had nearly full reservations for the whole night. It looked a bit bleak but somehow, we finagled a seat! Barely, though. They did give us a time limit, which was understandable. We immediately ordered - the San Francisco, which had pistachio shells as well as a call out to where we live, and an appetizer that had salmon. Also, the 5 euro glasses of wine of the night. There isn't a long wait for the food, thank goodness! Our table neighbors was a couple from Chicago who had kids our age apparently. We had a nice time talking to them as we waited for our pizza. We immediately began chowing down. I honestly think Mimi's is one of the best pizza places we went to in our entire trip to Italy. Granted, I didn't eat pizza everyday but damn, it was so good. This is the only restaurant we ate at twice (though to be fair, there aren't as many options in Ravello as in Venice or Rome). The first time we got burrata, gnocchi, meatballs, and a pizza. Everything tasted fresh and good for the soul. Simply delicious. It was the kind of Italian food we had been craving after lots of fancy course meals and Venetian chicceti. Second time we got meatballs again (this one was really delicious), vongole spaghetti, and grilled vegetables. The food is reasonably priced, delicious and the service refreshingly professional.
