Just had the worst experience here. My first visit to Sorrento and my hotel recommended me to eat there. The worker at the hotel actually walked me over there to let them know I was coming from their referral. The waiter, which I found out was the owner was so nasty. No smile and very short with his order taking. I asked was there shrimp in the fried seafood dish. I asked because my friend is allergic. He says, I'll make it without shrimp. He was very annoyed because I tried to explain she had a shrimp allergy and he sucker his teeth and walked away. My girlfriend and I just looked at each other. When I was ready to order, I called him over and wanted to order the ravioli. I asked could I have mozzarella melted on top. He said there's already cheese inside. I said I understand that but I would like it on top also. He started talking Italian, giving me nasty looks and walked away. I followed him and asked for a manager. He told me his was the owner. At that point I said I don't have to eat here. There's plenty of places to eat. He called us niggas and the people outside that were eating, mouths' dropped. I would never support a racist. Excellent choice for Italian food in Sorrento. The place is charming, tucked away and worth looking for. I had the tube pasta with a pork tomato sauce - and it was perfectly portioned and full of flavor! My friends and I came in for dinner on a slow Tuesday evening. The server was very rude and disrespectful he told us to speak in our native language, rushed us to order and completely ignored us until it was time to pay which is when he asked if anything was wrong! We happened upon this restaurant as we went on a walk to discover more of Sorrento ... nestled among the narrow "vie" as you make your way AWAY from the center square, this place is actually two spaces: One is a pizzeria on the one side of the via and on the other is the restaurant. Le Grazie is absolutely amazing! My mom and I went here last year and couldn't remember the name until we found it AGAIN! Now we will never forget the name! I study in Florence and have traveled quite a bit around Italy but by far this is the best restaurant I've ate at. From the amazing bread, oil, and balsamic to the decor and presentation of the food, just everything is bellissima!!! The staff is incredible friendly with the owner checking in to make sure everyone is comfortable, happy, and fed well! The caprese ravioli is AMAZING the sauce is so good and the shape is a little different with delicious ricotta filling. My mom got the spaghetti pomodoro and it also was SO good! Sounds plain but this dish was far from it! The sauce has fresh roasted tomatoes in it with it being more like a creamy tomato sauce. If you're going to eat out in Sorrento, come here! We have been in Sorento for nearly a week having one fabulous meal after another. This unfortunately was just OK. The calamari was previously frozen. Pizza Margarita that my daughter had was ok. My Risotto was decent. The Nochi Sorentino ( we're in Sorento remember) is average. The food was basically tourist food. Below par but good waitstaff etc. There are many better alternatives in Sorento for authentic and very good cuisine. Above is rating the food only. Take away 1 star for the cheesy Muzak and frumpy over 70 cruise ship crowd if you want the whole picture. We ate outside in a small alleyway. This is a family run restaurant and the care shows. The food is fantastic and so is the service. Very friendly too. This is simply the BEST restaurant in Sorrento, in fact, in all of Italy!!! The food is inventive, outstanding, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Every dish is special ... my favorite is the "lamelle di seppie", cuttlefish salad.......yummmmmmmmm. The menu is very extensive and everything I've tasted in the three nights in a row that I ate here was fantastic. The food is the best of fine-dining but at very reasonable prices so you can order an antipasto, pasta, main course wine and dessert and still not spend a ton. They even have a wood-fired pizza, great for lunch or a late-night snack.
