Seafood Pasta

Family of four visiting Naples for three nights. Night one we went here and it was great. Quality of the food was very good, especially for the price. We got the large appetizer (40e)which was to large for us (but good). My seafood pasta was 10e. Very popular place so going much after they open at 7pm and I would get reservations.

Intimate bustling Michelin star restaurant where owner / chef is hands on. Elegant simple food is perfection.

Seafood Pasta

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here and enjoyed the tasty food and lively atmosphere. The seafood pasta dishes were delicious. The grilled calamari was over cooked and chewy but when we complained, they agreed and quickly replaced it with a better prepared version. It was fun.

Perfect seafood restaurant, very delicious!!! Highly recommend for anyone! Excellent service!

Small place, tight feel
Tripadvisor S.

I had read the favorable reviews of Il Gobbetto, literally "The Hunchback", so we decided to have a look inside as we happened by. It is a cute little place just off Via Toledo and a stones throw from the infamous Teatro San Carlo, but a bit cramped with too many tables for the small room. It seems as though they cater to tourists as foreigners made up most of the clientele. We were squeezed into a corner table by the owner who speaks a little English, making maneuvering the elbows a little difficult. As is usually the case, our eyes were, metaphorically speaking, bigger than our stomachs and we ended up ordering antipasti (appetizers) and primi (first courses). For my wife's antipasto she ordered the Pacchero Fritto (€3), four deep fried cheese squares that were rather uninspiring. I on the other hand had l'insalata Caprese (Caprese salad - €6), sliced, ripe, juicy cherry tomatoes on a bed of rucola, and thick slices of mozzarella di bufala (mozzarella cheese made from milk of water buffalo, a specialty of Southern Italy's Mediterranean coastal region) topped with fresh basil leaves. You would easily pay $8 to $15 for a dish like this in the states, so the $6.75 price tag was not difficult to swallow ... yuk-yuk. For our primi and final courses of the night we decided to go with pasta. My wife had the Gnocchi del Gobbetto (€6), handmade gnocchi (potato dumplings) in a creamy cheese sauce with sliced zucchini and topped with fresh basil. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked, not too soft, not too hard, and the sauce perfectly complimented the lightness of the thinly sliced zucchini. The portion was perfect with just enough to fill you without bursting and the price extremely fair compared to U.S. restaurant standards. My Orecchiette Salsiccia e Provola (ear shaped pasta in a tomato sauce with ground sweet sausage and melted provolone cheese - €6) was exquisite. Again, handmade pasta, as is the case in most restaurants in Italy, was in just the right proportion to sauce, sausage and provolone, and was perfectly "al dente". One of my all-time favorite dishes is orecchiette salsiccia e friarielli (sausage and broccoli rabe sauteed in olive oil and garlic) and this was the first time I tried a version with tomato sauce. It may not become my favorite, but I will definitely be playing with this recipe at home and would order it again in a flash ... HOOAH! Cover charge (coperto) is just €1 per person, the service was excellent, and things moved quickly even though they were rather busy. The owner even took time to dance with a couple of pretty young lady customers in the middle of the room while his wife slaved away in the kitchen (I hope she doesn't read this or I might get him in trouble). Their house red (or white) wine, which is very good, comes in at a paltry €3 per bottle (compare that to a half-liter of inferior house red at Pizzeria Sorbillo - €9) and a liter of mineral water is just €1.50 (€1.50 for a half-liter at Sorbillo). Our bill came to just €28.50 for two courses, wine, and water (plus tip), a tremendous bargain and worth feeling a bit claustrophobic. Mezzanelli con Genovese pasta

amazing food in Naples! We tried the fried anchovies as well as the grilled squid and both were great. We both also both had the mezzanelli pasta with Genovese sauce. Highly highly recommend!!

Reservation is a must for this lovely restaurant. The gentleman picked up my call by the last minutes and we were treated very well. And for sure very delicious food. Can tell most of the customers are from local. A must try!

Cozy place, local food, fresh and tasty. The octopus is not perfectly grilled, otherwise no problems. Highly recommend.

By far one if the most fabulous dining experiences we've had in Italy so far! It's a tiny restaurant located in a tiny alley right off Loredo in a great shopping district of Napoli (Naples). We waited for about 30 minutes but it was well worth it! We took the owner's suggestion of starting the Gobbetto appetizers and were blown away by the fabulous assortment served: sautéed chard, stuffed fried eggplant, fried polenta, fried anchovies, buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes and cold grilled zucchini salad. For our main course, we ordered sautéed calamari and veal in white wine sauce. Along with a small carafe each of house wine, the total meal cost 36.50 Euro. The service was great and the atmosphere absolutely charming and quaint.

Check

WORST experience in Naples. Ordered buffalo mozzarella appetizer and the tomatoes were not fresh, tasted almost bad so we didn't eat them. Also got too pastas which were both so salty it was literally impossible to eat; we tasted nothing besides salt. The waiter was rude and when we said we can't eat the pastas he said the problem is us because everyone else likes the food just fine. Did not want to remake the pasta or take it off the check even though we literally had one bite from each plate. We came due to good reviews and I just can't imagine how people can rate this food high when it doesn't taste fresh and the only seasoning they seem to use is salt. Don't eat here.

Every slice was flavorful, well balanced, and unmistakably Neapolitan, with each one bringing something a little different to the table. We decided to come here for dinner and were craving a good seafood pasta. They also had their famous Seafood Risotto for two and we could decide, so we shared the seafood pasta as a starter and the Risotto for two for our entree. Service was great and friendly and our pasta was to die for! Spaghetti cooked perfectly al dente mixed with mussels and eggplant topped with parmigiano reggiano. Simple, straightforward, and super tasty. The vibe is awesome with outdoor dining and people watching going on, people are just in the moment of things and conversations the night away, NOT on their phones. I was expecting a pot of risotto to come to our table to split, but we were pleasantly surprised and super pumped that two full sized plates were delivered, fully loaded with clams, prawns and langoustines and a perfectly done risotto on the bottom. For 28 euros?(about $33 usd) You definitely won't get even ONE plate for that price in America! Needless to say, we were stuffed by the end of our meal and decided to walk it off in the bustling streets before seeking out dessert options.
