We had an amazing Welcome Reception for family and friends the night before my son's wedding. Carlo and Guido arranged everything even down to entertainment! We were a party of 54 people and enjoyed so many delicious foods from Sardines, Calamari, Eggplant, Tomato Salad, Pastas, Chicken, Swordfish... I can't even remember them all. Each dish more delicious than the last. We also enjoyed a glass of Prosecco to start with and each table had the house red and white wine for everyone. When the weather permits you gotta eat outside! Our experience was nice. We were welcomed with a toast of Prosecco. Our food was fresh seafood. So delish! Along the street there are people passing and conversations going on amongst the dining guests. So it can get fairly loud, but during celebrations it was expected. The locals were celebrating a saint at the time of our dinner. There were festivities which was like a bonus to our evening. That included a stuntman with fire act and some robot looking guy walking down the street playing 80's music. That's just the description of the scene. The restaurant itself is really nice with indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu of course has Italian food and seafood. We were personally greeted at our table by Chef Guido, which was a lovely gesture on his part XOXO By the way, make reservations cuz this place gets super busy especially on weekends. The concierge at our hotel recommended this place for a dinner for 10 people and we were welcomed with such warmth and grace. From the service to the food everything was perfection. Love love love. We stumbled into this place during our time in Ischia and we were treated like familia from the start. The ambiance was cozy and cute. The staff was so genuine and assisted us in ordering, in addition to treating us to an antipasti on the house. You can tell the pasta was homemade right then and the fried calamari was divine, not too fried just the way we like it. The octopus was fresh and cooked to perfection. I am about to write several bold words, and, despite any potential initial disbelief, they are all true. First, Da Ciccio was the #1 Restaurant of my entire 15-day trip throughout Naples, Ischia, Sorrento, four cities on the Amalfi Coast, and Salerno. I remember each dish that I ordered (and this was two weeks ago). I remember the taste of each dish. Second, I am from Manhattan, NY, where there is no shortage of outstanding, Zagat-rated, Michelin-starred restaurants. Despite my prior experiences with NYC dining, the following still stands: Da Ciccio was one of the best meals I have ever had IN MY LIFE. Yes, I know - a random ristorante on a far-off island off the coast of Italy? Maybe some backstory should help: In the restaurant, my girlfriend and I were sitting and perusing the menu, trying to decide on what to order. A man whom I had seen partially waiting tables and partially standing around comes over and notices a Lonely Planet book on our table. He approaches us, begins to flip through the book, stops on a page, smiles, and says: "They still have it, huh." I snatch back the book, and begin to read this snippet on the page. Confused, I ask "What do you mean?" Mystery man: "It's me - I'm Carlo Buono." WHAAAAA? Sure enough, I see his name in the book, the chef that Lonely Planet interviewed for its Ischia dining section. We spoke for a bit, very pleasant and welcoming man, and afterwards, and I really had my expectations on fire now. Now, how were those expectations met, you ask? The paccheri con vongole was in another league. The cozze alla marina was in another league. Believe me when I tell you: I was sipping the sauce in which these dishes were cooked like it was soup. And finally, the stuffed squid. Yes, in another league. And dessert? Delizie al limone. I know what you are thinking - that annoying, touristy, creamy, sometimes artificially tasting dessert widespread among all restaurants around the Gulf of Naples. Yes, that one. Now, say it with me: in another league. The restaurant only serves fresh, local, and seasonal seafood. I quite literally had seen a man 30 minutes prior reeling in a net filled with mussels - would not be surprised if they ended up in my plate - and that's the way it should be. Traditional, local, Ischian cuisine. Forget about Yelp's five-star rating scheme. Da Ciccio is a SIX out of five. If you eat at just one establishment on Ischia, you will go to Da Ciccio. We came here on the recommendation of the shop keeper down the way, Ann. She said this was her friend and that he had really good food. So, once dinner time rolled around and we had our party all together, we went in. I ran over to thank Ann for the recommendation. When I told her that my mother was with us, she insisted on coming in to say hello to her. I guess we made an impression. Anyway, Ann greeted my mother and also told the owner to take good care of us. The apparently meant a freebie. We got a nice pizza margherita on the house. NUMMY. Crispy crust, wonderful buffalo mozzerella, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil. We loved it. This restaraunt also gives everyone free bruschetta. We received 4 large pieces that were cut in half. Two were tomato and lovely and two were cannelini beans that had been marinaded in a lemony sauce. They were really good. There were also 2 bread fritter things. Really, really good. For her main course, my mom got the grilled prawns. They were huge. 4 were more than enough. She said that they were wonderful. My husband and I got a whole dorado fish that was cooked with herbs, lemon, tomatoes, and potatoes. That was just about the best fish I have ever had. The meal was finished off with complimentary lemon sorbet made from local lemons. Heaven. Of course, since the restaurant has an ocean view, the ambiance is lovely. It's very homey with tourists and locals alike eating there. The service was lovely. I know part of this review is down to the overall beauty of the island, but I have to say that the gracious service and delicious food more than make the 5 star rating. read more

Great place in Ischia. We came here based on recommendations on Yelp and Trip Advisor. This place is not difficult to find, its right on the main road to the castello. We started dinner with some bread and olives. Best bread that I have had on this trip so far. You can tell that its freshly baked. We had the zuppa di cozze. That's mussels with an awesome light sauce that you can literally drink because its so good. We had nice pasta dishes for dinner as well. They gave us complementary limoncello and a veryin interesting arugala liquor. I recommend this as one of the top dinner restaurants in Ischia. read more
