We were a party of 54 people and enjoyed so many delicious foods from Sardines, Calamari, Eggplant, Tomato Salad, Pastas, Chicken, Swordfish... I can't even remember them all. Each dish more delicious than the last. We also enjoyed a glass of Prosecco to start with and each table had the house red and white wine for everyone. We were lucky to find them open. They were cooking up delivery pizza, and they welcomed us inside, we were the only guests. The owner was kind, I ordered an amaro, we were told the menu was limited to pizza, that day. Well, we'd heard a thing or two about the Italian's pizza expertise, so we went for it, our first -- and one of the most memorable -- pizza sessions of our stay, on or off the mainland. This is just my take, but seems to me most Italian restaurants get the whole Napolitan recipe right. The secret to marvelous pie is forking into the whole thing as soon as it comes outta the oven, like, as close to burn-your-tongue as possible. And I'm pretty sure the owner was extra attentive to the random American stragglers who wandered into his place in November. He wowed us. Unforgettable.

When we got to Procida, we went to Marina di Corricella and walked by the waterfront restaurants trying to decide where to eat. La Lampara sits high above the marina providing a nice view. But I can not say enough about the amazing food experience. Don't waste your time and money on the standard dishes. This place and it's food we ordered you can not find anywhere in the US. I will never forget what we ate. We had the Seafood Caprese to start. It's two mozzarella filled with anchovies and smoked swordfish. My wife order the seared tuna and I had the fried salted cod. Each were excellent and well worth it. But the dessert was something I will never ever forget. The lemon tiramisu!!!!! Excellent food. I told my wife that when I grow old and suffer from dementia, I will likely forget everyone's name but I will never forget La Lampara. :-)

It is on the water with a wonderful view of the castle, perfect (and potentially romantic) for an evening meal. Once we arrived on the water taxi, greeted enthusiastically by probably the owner and shown to a table on the water. Was offered the opportunity to see the fresh fish, with each fish explained well (a nice variety of about 6 different types) and also how they were prepared. Started with three fish tartares, which were both good and interesting, each having a very unique taste. My main was one of the fresh fish (which I shared with my wife) with pasta. The pasta was cooked perfectly and worked very well with the fish, which was served on the side so you got a true experience of the very fresh fish. For dessert, shared a fruit plate with my daughter, which was also great. A lot of very fresh fruit. Decided we did not want to take the water taxi home (my wife got sea sick as it is more of a water canoe with an engine) so asked for a regular taxi. Did not realize we had to walk up what felt like an infinite number of steps (probably about six stories) to get to the road, guess we burned up most of the calories from dinner. A great experience with a great view, just think twice before saying no to the water taxi.

The atmosphere: Everything you could ever want from a beach town restaurant in Italy. The food: Amazing! The service: Fantastic. I've had the zucchini spaghetti (which I'm still trying to recreate at home), spaghetti with mussels and the pasta pescatore. Everything was so fresh and wonderful. I love the slow natured pace of the restaurant, so if you are trying to pop in for a quick bite, it might not be the best option. I also really loved the fact that they use dinnerware hand painted on the island. Go here, you won't be disappointed!

Steaks and pizza also excellent. But seafood reigns supreme here. Some of the best oysters I've ever had... Italian...no. Amedeo didn't like the locals that month, so he was getting them from France. We got the grilled whole Branzino twice. sea urchin opened to order. The paccheri with fresh porcini and clams, we still talk about. Amedeo even caught a fish off the pier for fun.
