We had planned to go to another restaurant on the waterfront but felt drawn to this place instead. We had a nice sunset dinner on the front patio deck, and they were able to accommodate us with no reservation, although by the time we were leaving, the restaurant was beginning to fill. We were a party of four, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We ordered the fresh bruschetta and fried calamari to share. One person ordered a steak, another had the shrimp scampi, another the lemon chicken, and another chose the grilled shrimp. They also had a great beer and wine selection. We all finished with gelato for dessert. The service was very friendly and attentive. The bill came to 200 euros. I know people say you do not tip in Italy, but I still do. I left 50 euros because three servers attended our table. read more

After strolling along the beach, we came upon Zi' Teresa and loved the outdoor seating, lights, and ambiance of the waterfront restaurant. It was fairly busy and we waited probably 10 minutes to be seated. Our server was very friendly and hustling all night. She took our orders for wine and dinner, and she was very apologetic when it took our food probably 30 minutes to come out. Either the kitchen was backed up, our order was delivered to the wrong table, or they forgot our order, but we waited a while. The food was pretty good but expensive for what you got, the pasta didn't taste super fresh compared to other places we visited in Naples. Overall, I think I'd come back for lunch or an early dinner to avoid the business of the evening and try some other plates. read more

Now that tourists are starting to visit Napoli it is likely that more tourists will find this excellent restaurant. It is as authentic as you will find. The service is great too. And I make the distinction of second night since we tried coming our first night but we're turned away as they didn't open until 7:30pm and they didn't want to serve drinks until the kitchen opened back up Pizza choices were the Margherita and the Buffla. This place was just a one minute walk from my hotel, which is in a very touristy area but the hotel front desk recommended it highly. And indeed the food was excellent. Here are some of the highlights: -- The mussels were superb. Fresh and exceedingly large. -- The Buffala (like a mozzarella) pizza here was the best pizza I tried in my 8 days in Naples. -- The home made pasta with tomato and eggplant was amazing. Perfectly cooked pasta and clearly home made fresh. Lovely flavors. -- Chocolate almond cake. This was very good as well. The service was reserved but efficient and friendly. Some of the food was delicious, but some of the seafood was not cleaned properly. The food was above average and certain items were at a reasonable price. Once we asked for our check we realized we were charged for the entree sized portions of calamari even though we ordered them as starters (we ordered 3 and asked if the appetizer size would be enough for are party and were told yes). This prove difference was 20 euros. We were also asked to tip even though the tip was included in the menu. Finally, instantly after paying our bill the hostess forced us up from our table even though we ordered bottles of wine and were still finishing our last glasses. Fantastic. Directly across the street from our hotel. The Grand Vesuvio Hotel. Yelpers recommended and our driver for the day told us the Napolitano's come to this area for good food. Told us that there was no reason to look for restaurants outside this area. Why waste time cabbing it to another area for food when it's right next door. This restaurant is deserving of more than 5 stars. The food, the cleanliness, service are above par. We have no complaints. My wife had a quartino of white wine and a marinara pizza. We shared an antipasto of fresh seafood. I had the spaghetti basílico, a beer and glass of red wine. We had bread and olives, a large bottle of water and I finished dinner with a decaf express. All for 48 euros. My expreso was hot, not like the lukewarm expresó served by Starbucks. No wonder Italy doesn't allow Starbucks! If in the area you must try this place. My boyfriend was in charge of dinner and made reservations here. It's located by the super high end hotels near a castle and wasnt too bad of a walk from the heart of Napoli. We walked on the bridge and went down a set of stairs to the front of the restaurant which was right on the water. They had a tented heated patio and had seated all their diners there. However, the inside was SUPER cute and was reminiscent of a restaurant that the penguins from Mary Poppins would work at. Bright, clean, and elegant all at the same time. It wasnt super busy when we ate but more parties started to fill the patio by the time we left. After studying the menu, we ordered the fried stuff squash blossom with ricotta, the vongole, the homemade noodles with seafood, and the Sfogliatella, a Napoli dessert, because when in Napoli right? We had the house wine since we were about to embark on a clam inspired meal. It went very nicely. The vongole was decent and the homemade pasta had nice chewy noodles if you're into that. The stuff squash blossoms went well with the balsamic vinegar and olive oil we had on hand, and my boyfriend enjoyed it a lot. (But he's partial to squash blossoms everywhere.) The Sfogliatella had a harder crunchier outside than I thought as it looked a bit deceiving with the thinly unveiled layers of crisp. And the filling was a bit too sweet, It was a nice relaxing atmosphere and we had a fun time watching one of the boat owners parked in the dock go about his night. My dad told me he had gone here back in the early 60s and truly enjoyed it so I thought I would give it a try. Not sure what it was like back then, but it really is a tourist-filled restaurant which makes sense since it's in a little boat harbor near the castle. The food was good and the staff friendly. We actually came here twice. However, the first time a waitress made some comment about adding "service" - meaning a tip - and the second time, the waiter was more pushy about the "service." He literally told us the service isn't included and then continued to ask if I wanted to add it to my credit card. I told him firmly, charge me the price on the receipt only. And I added in Italian - You don't do that. Luckily I am well aware that tipping is NOT customary in Italy and asking/pushing for one is not cool at all. Because of this, I will not be returning. I do not want to be treated like "the dumb tourist." Zi Teresa management should address this. read more

On a lucky night, you may have the pleasure of being welcomed and seated by head chef Carmela Abbate herself, but you will always be cared for by the attentive, if a bit overextended, front of house staff. The location is wonderful, with the outdoors dining room located right on the marina, overlooked by the delightful Castel del' Ovo. As for the food, it is all execution and no frills. If you're looking for the best Neapolitan eggplant Parmesan, mussel soup, seafood pasta you will probably ever try, among many other exceptional menu items, then look no further than Zi' Teresa. Only downside was the lack of options for vegetarians or diners with other dietary restrictions, perhaps due more to the culinary tradition heralded by the menu than to the willingness and flexibility of the kitchen. My mother grew up in Naples. This restaurant was her favorite restaurant back in the 40s and early 50s before she immigrated to the US. So too, it is my favorite restaurant in Naples. The ambience and food are truly what Napoli is all about. On my last trip there I stayed at the Royal Continental and walked there with my wife, my mother and her husband. We ate there twice. We ate here twice. One of us grew up eating mainly fish. The rest of us love to eat it. The fish and seafood is pretty great. Super tasty prawns with the heads, perfectly fried calamari, amazing grilled octopus, steamed mussels in a light tomato sauce with bread fried in garlic and olive oil, etc. Nothing was bad. The views are amazing and the waiters are super friendly. By 9:30 it was packed with locals. If you come at 7, the place will be fairly empty with only tourists eating. Don't get here too late though or you'll be waiting for a while or sitting inside. read more

I read that this place is good, so I decided to try it out. The eggplant mozzarella was served to me cold. The cheese wasn't even melted! Usually this dish is served warm. Service was fine, but towards the end of my meal I noticed a bug mixed in with the sauce at the bottom, underneath the pile of pasta. My husband and I ate here last week (July 2017) for dinner and the view was lovely and the service was great, as well. My husband had salmon and I had spaghetti with clams. We both enjoyed our meals and my husband even said that it was some of the best prepared salmon he had ever eaten. HOWEVER, later that night, he was violently ill with food poisoning from the salmon! This restaurant is completely over rated. The gnocchi wasn't anything special and the seafood was good, but they could have had a better presentation. The bruschetta was tasty, but there were to many tomatoes and there wasn't enough oil. During my meal somebody I was eating with noticed a employee manhandling bread from one basket to another. They mentioned it so my whole table was now watching. The waitress tosses the bread from one half full basket into another half full basket that have been already used at tables for recently arriving customers. The waitress then takes this basket of bread to a party that just took their seats. How disgusting. Could you imagine if you are that bread? read more

Visiting for the week and staying across the street, so my wife and I decided to have dinner after checking in. The first impression was good, nice outdoor patio area. Our server was very nice, and helpful, though he did seem to go missing for long periods of time, I think if we had let him know we wanted just a simple light dinner with a few bottles of wine from the get go he wouldn't have taken such an affront to us only sharing one antipasti and having one main pasta dish each. My wife had the ravioli which was filled with cheese and basil and had a nice marinara sauce. I had the gnocchi with salmon, which came with this sauce that basically reminded me of eating macaroni and cheese but with fancier cheese, salmon and gnocchi instead of kraft noodles. The only disconcerting thing about our experience was the CONSTANT flow of flower peddlers that came downstairs and pestered every table that looked like a couple. Again, I don't blame the restaurant at all, but, by the 15th guy that came by when we were ready to pay our check, I was ready to pick him up and throw him into the water. If there was a better way to prevent this solicitation while patrons are trying to enjoy their meal and each other's company, that would be greAt. We are staying here for a week or so, and I'm sure we will be back, maybe during the day for a better view/experience. read more
