I read a lot of great reviews about this place, especially praising the crab linguine, and so my gf and I were excited to try this place out. We got to the restaurant and got seated, and noticed that it was entirely empty, which made us somewhat suspicious. And so we read some more reviews and there were a handful saying the crab linguine was actually bad, which made us hesitate. In the end we decided to just go for it. We ordered the crab linguine, bacala, and mussels for appetizer. And wouldn't you know it, the crab linguine and bacala were both absolutely **amazing** (mussels were also decent, nothing special). I really don't know why the reviews are mixed... but our experience was definitely 10/10. Only weird thing (which another reviewer also mentioned) was that the waiter asked us to tip in US currency. But whatever, I didn't mind too much (technically it meant we paid less considering the value of the dollar vs Euro) Anyway, all that aside, I highly recommend this place! read more

This was one of the most delicious places we have been to in Italy. Our server was very nice, even with our language, barrier and seemed incredibly happy upon hearing our food was good. We had Linguine con Crostacei (see picture) and the Frittura del Golfo (not pictured because it was too good). Both were excellent, large portions, and very flavorful and fresh. Very interesting dishes here! The staff are super friendly when you walk in which I appreciated since I was alone. The ambience is nice and quiet. I started with caprese salad which was just ok. The place was very warm, the host spoke very little English and seemed to be serving tap water in old mineral water bottles ... the bottles did not arrive with sealed caps. The chef did well enough. We came to Pastamore & Chiatamone before going on our pizza adventures. The waiter was very chilled and friendly. We ordered a few of the seafood dishes and were very shocked that most of the dishes were in 6-10 euro price range; which was super low for the quality of the seafood that you can get. Best of all, the house wine was about 2-4 euro per bottles which was an excellent deal after our dining experience in Amalfi coast. In a nutshell, Pastamore & Chiatamone is a good bang for the buck when you visit Naples and when your hotel is located nearby. read more

Oh yelpers, maybe Italy just isn't your country... The appeal of a 5-star well made, local place was just too tempting and what a disappointing experience for our last night in Naples. The waiter spoke neither Italian not English so the chef came out to take orders. We were amongst many other tourists there (Canadian, Italian, and Spanish is our best guess) He was out of mozzarella so steered us towards a dish that was stewed greens with fried cheese. Not sure what time it was but it wasn't very good. +1 for the appetizer meat and cheese (parmesan) for 2. It was good but not great. Love this place. Was staying at the hotel one block down by the water. Was trying to find a good nearby fresh seafood restaurant. We hit the jackpot with this place Loved it! We went 2 nights in a row and felt like we were part of the family! It's a small mom and pop place. Pop does the cooking and mom runs the front house. Not too much English is spoken but you will get by. Our favorites were the fresh steamed mussels and the fresh whole fish with homemade pasta. Also, the crab/pasta was incredible. This place is a nice small restaurant with friendly staff. We ordered bacala and the crab plate that came highly recommended. The crab plate wasn't as good as expected, the meat inside was dry and the crab didnt seem very fresh. It tasted alright but left something to be desired. Found this place through the yelp reviews. The restaurant doesn't look like much, but don't let the looks fool you. I told the waiter (who I think was the chef) what I wanted from the menu & he basically told me no, but to pick one of two other things that he pointed out. So I picked one of the things he pointed to, not really sure what I was getting. Awhile later my food was ready and man, it was delicious! We stayed in Naples for two nights and went here both nights. It is a little hole in the wall behind the "hotel row" by the sea which means it isn't overrun by tourists. It's pretty authentic as there is little English spoken by the staff. Both times we didn't hear any English at all even with the other customers. The food was delicious, mostly seafood dishes. During my two visits for dinner I had the fried sardines, eggplant, seafood salad, mixed seafood plate and another seafood plate that was all fried. IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS! Prices were much better than the outdoor touristy places in front of the hotels that had picture menus. This place only holds about 20 people, the Father (Vincento) is the chef, the Mother (Inma) is the waitress/host and a son busses the tables (he's a good worker also). I recommend for anyone who wants more of an authentic meal without the tourist crowds. read more

Delicious local fare in a little hole in the wall! We had the fritto Misti antipasti which was delicious, a half litre of their house red wine and a pasta dish each. The bread was the best we've had - it had a more sour flavor than most. We visited on our last night in Italy and after Rome and Capri we've had our fair share of Italian food. We picked this place based on the reviews and walking distance from our hotel. Big mistake. These reviews had to have been for a different restaurant. It was awful. The food was just okay. The gnocchi tasted like Chef Boyardee and came with a pound of cheese and side of strange fatty roast. The mussels were good but the calamari was tough. The shrimp was mush and tasted terrible. The prices didn't match the menu. They refilled our still water with tap and then told us they couldn't send the 3rd bottle with us because they were using their own water and didn't have a cap. The Limoncello had moldy corks. To make it all the worse, the waiter hovered over us the entire time. AND they spoke zero English so ordering was a nightmare. I am completely disappointed that our last night in Italy was spent here. read more

Took a chance and stopped in and was very glad we are that we did. The meal was excellent and it was quite frankly the first time since I've been in Italy that the service was prompt / excellent. Started out with appetizer which was seven courses of different seafood's prepared a different way for each course. I'll be honest, this is more of a dinner then an appetizer but man was it good. We unfortunately ordered main courses also which we could barely eat (but we so good that we tried anyways) which resulted in a long long. Walk at the end of the night . This is a family run the establishment where the wife serves and is the husband of the chef. Not your big corporate restaurant around the corner (who by the way all look like they serve the same pizza) but a great find where the chef comes out to every table to say hi. This is not your super high end look to a restaurant but it is an amazing deal with great wine, great food and all for a very reasonable price. 1L of wine, 7 course appetizer and two main courses for €68... I find it funny as we normally spend much much more on dinner (last night was over €100 for the wine alone) but this was a great find with perfectly prepared. read more

Pastamore is by far one of the best Italian restaurants I have eaten in. We were staying at the Royal right around the corner so it was very convenient. The food is so good, fresh and genuine. Vincenzo and his wife are fabulous and hospitable like only the Neapolitans are capable. On our first visit we had seafood, the second time we ordered pasta e fagioli...wow! On the following occasions spaghetti al granchio and so on and so on. My family returns to Napoli often and we now have a favorite place. After a long walk in Napoli streets we stopped for an early dinner in this place, found good reviews, and loved to have seafood. We ordered bruschetta and Parmesan eggplant for appetizer. Both were great, very Mediterranean traditional, specially eggplant was great. For main dish, we ordered fried seafood with various fish, prawn, and squid, and second dish was grilled seafood with sword fish, sepa, squid and prawn. Both were good and recommend it. We had house wine, which something went wrong with it and they replaced it with bottle of white wine with no charge. They served a very good bread before the meal, almost like sour bread and fresh, we liked it a lot with olive oil. Environment is small and cozy, but clean and well maintained. Waiter and chef were very friendly, and stopped by a few times, we enjoyed their hospitality. We had a great time there, good food, clean place, and friendly environment. I will go there again, if I have next trip to Napoli, this time we had to rush out because we were late to catch train to Rome. read more

One of the best meals we had in Italy! Found this restaurant on yelp and it was close to our wonderful Hotel Excelsior, but tucked away on a quiet street just one block from sea walk. As noted, do not let the exterior fool you. Inside is warm and inviting. Working with the charming chef and waiter we managed (since our Italian is almost nonexistent) to order the BEST eggplant Parmesan, 2 grilled whole fish, pasta with whole crab on top!, mussels, octopus, other pasta dishes, panna cotta, and a number of other absolutely delicious dishes. Seafood was incredibly fresh (they showed us the whole fish before grilling). From the wine alcove we selected Lachryma Christi (from Naples/Vesuvius)-such a great wine that we bought a second bottle to drink on the long train ride south to Reggio Calabria. Excellent value also as the menu items are not expensive. Can't recommend this restaurant enough, and we will definitely go back there on our next visit to Naples. read more

My family enjoyed an outstanding dinner at this restaurant close to our hotel. Small and unpretentious from the outside, it's cozy inside with about 6 or 7 tables and shelves decorated with wine bottles. We ordered the appetizer special for two and were about to order a main course when he warned us to wait to order until after we finished our appetizer as we might not be hungry any longer after the app. I should mention that he did not speak English and my Italian consists of just a few words, so he pulled up Google translate on his phone to help us communicate. But we never really needed it since talking about food tends to be a universal language. The app consisted of 7 delicious dishes, all for just 20 Euros. Elsewhere these would have each been expensive tapas. The stuffed zucchini flowers were especially tasty and when he saw how much we enjoyed these he went back to the kitchen and surprised us by cooking us up another plate of these. He was equally social with the other diners there as well. We finished up with a couple of desserts that we all fought over and of course a Sambuca. If you're in this area don't miss this exceptional little restaurant where the chef is the owner, the waiter and the host and will make you feel right at home. read more
