FRESH GNOCCHI WITH RAGU AND PROVOLA
    Haylee M.

2 days later and I'm still dreaming of that Cuzzetiello sandwich! From the taste of it, all the Ragu used in each of the dishes were also different. And different in a good way! I got the Cuzzetiello filled with meatballs with ragù. I'm not really a fan of tomato sauce (even tomato sauce pasta), so the fact that I liked this is HUGE! Absolutely beautiful flavor, fresh bread, Large meatballs and the perfect amount of Ragu in there. FRESH SCIALATIELLI WITH RAGU AND RICOTTA - Ragu had a slightly tangy taste to it. Dad found it a bit too sour so we ended up packing half of it and taking it for breakfast for the next day. I still found it really nice though. Pasta was cooked well and not too al dente. FRESH GNOCCHI WITH RAGU AND PROVOLA - Husband and brother both ordered this one. Gnocchi was fresh and soft and quite a big plateful of it. The raghu had a slightly sweet taste to it compared to the others. RAVIOLI WITH RAGU FILLED WITH RICOTTA AND SPINACH - Quite large pieces of ravioli here with a good amount of filling as well. There was a lot of Ragu on the plate here compared to the amount of the actual pasta and the Ragu was fairly oily. :( Otherwise a good dish.

Came here yesterday enticed by the high ratings and managed to snag a last minute reservation for 8:45PM. Meh, the place fell short of expectations. We ordered a rigatoni ragu and a ziti genovese, along with a mixed side salad (in desperate need of fibre given the 3P diet recently consisting of pasta, panini and pizza). We also got a sparkling water and a half litre of their house made lemonade. The side salad was literally just lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots, with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar for you to make your own vinaigrette. It tasted just like it looked, but served its purpose. The lemonade was perfect when mixed with the soda water. Now, for the food... the ragu was honestly quite disappointing. There was a decent amount of pulled beef brisket, but the sauce didn't quite have the depth of flavour I hoped for. There was no meatiness; it tasted just like someone had opened a can of tomato sauce and merely added some meat bits. The Genovese was better, with big chunks of meat and caramelized onion. It was quite sweet (not sure if that's the typical flavour profile) and not as good as another carne alla genovese we had gotten on the streets. Service was okay, but the ladies' washroom was extremely cramped (you can barely open the door when you're inside). Honestly, I probably wouldn't come again as it was quite pricey for what it's worth...

I have eaten quite a few meals in my half century but this is one of the very best. And without a doubt, the ragú is the best ragú I have ever had. Tandem was a recommendation from my food tour guide and it's on point. Located in the old town part of Napoli, it's a half block off the main streets with the tourists. That makes it close but not too close. Inside, a small seating area with a half-dozen tables. Friendly host to show us to our table and explain the different pasta shapes. Stuffed mozzarella to start. No, not something stuffed with mozzarella. This was an actual ball of fresh mozzarella stuffed with sauce. For main, I had the ragú with fusilli pasta. Literally, the best ragú I have ever had. Ever other meal I have the rest of my time in Napoli will be judged against this and it will fall short. Don't miss Tandem. I ordered the fresh scialatielli with ragú and ricotta. I highly recommend it. Great flavor, pasta was perfectly cooked and hot.

Sirs and Ma'ams...this is THE spot. After bouncing from one location to another and then finally getting a seat at one of the locations, the husband and I were blown away by how good the Ravioli and Gnocchi were. My husband couldn't fathom how they were able to give the gnocchi a smoked flavor. and the Ravioli made me question what the f kind of ravioli they make and sell over in the States. As Black Americans, the fresh ingredients alone gave it a different and exquisite taste. But the techniqqqqquueee! Babyee! Tandem is THAT girl. Try to get a reservation beforehand. if you can't, still try your favor. And if you need to wait, then wait. ...and we took the meatballs to go. And hell yea - they were excellent warmed up the next day. This restaurant was big highlight of our honeymoon. In fact, it was my babe's favorite.

Great food, went without a reservation but got seated inside. Service was good enough after they realized we were there, but the food was excellent! Would recommend!

Meatballs with Neapolitan Genovese, Friarielli, Gnocchi with Ragu

Tandem's claim to fame is its ragu, a thick stew made with chunks of meat in a tomato-based sauce. It comes served in a variety of ways, but my pick was the fresh potato gnocchi with ragu and smoked provola cheese. The dominant flavor of this dish came from the super salty ragu, which was lightly sweetened by the tomato sauce and had a smokiness from the provola cheese, but overall, the flavors just weren't quite balanced. One of my favorite parts about eating Italian pasta dishes is wiping up the last of the sauce with a piece of bread (scarpetta), but in this case, the bread that came with the cover charge had a crust that was as hard as a rock, which even the tomato sauce couldn't break through. While the ragu was a bit of a disappointment, I also tried a secondi dish, the meatballs in a Neapolitan Genovese sauce, made of slow-cooked, caramelized onions with white wine. Without the tomatoes, this sauce was much more balanced in flavor, and was a nice complement to the soft, juicy, meaty meatballs. And finally, we ordered a side of the Friarielli (local greens) that were cooked down and had a bitter flavor, which made for a nice complement to the other heartier dishes.

One of the most iconic restaurants in Naples, Italy known for their Ragu meat sauce and the chewy well done Gnocchi Pastas. You cannot stop eating their fabulous Ragu sauce dipped in the hard bread. The price is all less than 10 Euros and most of the generous dishes are 6-8 Euros. Make sure you make a reservation before you get there. Their inside seating is limited to five tables and outside maybe eight tables for two to four people. You have to wait twenty to forty minutes for a table to open. For the price their service and quality and quantity were all five stars. The kitchen staffs were incredibly fast working and foods were definitely home cooking. The three dishes came out all at the same time but they mixed up one of my orders and came back with mine in less than ten minutes. I think the waitress just put a wrong order but it was remedied immediately. The 6 Euros mixed tomato and lettuce green was simple but delicious. I loved everything about this small restaurant. It's part of very beautiful chain of excellent franchise restaurants in Naples, but this one is probably the best judging by the popularity from the locals. I only saw one couple who was not from Italy. Most of the customers spoke Italian.

    Sartú di ragù

A bit of a tourist trap. Dish was cold, tomato sauce quite acidic, cheese not tasty. Great service though. Un po' una trappola per turisti. Il piatto era freddo, il pomodoro acido, formaggio non buono. Servizio buono

Scrapetta (appetizer size?) of Raghu geonovese

Yum yum yum. Slow cooked ragu served with your choice of pasta, gnocchi or simply with bit of bread. I wanted to try the all, despite already stuffing myself with pizza earlier, so we went with a "taster" bowl of the ragu Genovese, a vegan ragu with gnocchi and a ragu cooked with cheese. The classical ragu definitely is the most classic tomato beef dish, and it comes covering a platter full of smoked cheese, amazing with each bit. The ragu genovese of beef and onion was cook delightfully tender with onions that melt in your mouth. In contrast, the vegan ragu is lighter, with lots of vegetables. If you're willing to eat meat, the classic and genovese is definitely the way to go.

Amazing food, great ambiance. Amazing service! We didn't have a reservation and one of the locations was full, so they directed us to their other spot down the block. We sat inside because outside is so crazy noisy and chaotic. We had the best experience and favorite food of our trip!

    Pasta Ragu

I had the Neapolitan Genovese - and my oh my was that delectable. Still had me thinking 2 months after having it in Naples! My counterpart had the regular Ragu- surprisingly it was unremarkable! Enough to where we wonder what the rave on the Ragu was all about. I would definitely go out of my way for the Genovese, but if that was off the menu, I would wander to try new eateries. 4 star was enough just for the Genovese!

Holy cow. So good. We had the Ragu stuffed mozzarella and my dish was amazing as well. I cannot remember the name of the noodles but it was so good. Very reasonable prices for the serving. Definitely recommend. 10/10.

Fresh scialattielli with ragù and ricotta. AMAZING. Best pasta I had during my trip across Italy!!

Stay with the Ragu. The fennel and organ he salad were tasty. The grilled vegetables were not great. The ragu was the hit.
