There are several branches of this restaurant. This one is in a rather remote area, away from any of the main business areas in North Vancouver. I imagine this is probably the least known location of them all. I expect that the menu is similar at all locations though. Having tried this one...I don't think I need to try any of the other locations. The food wasn't bad, but for what we got...I think it was extraordinarily overpriced. My daughter and I both ordered one cup of Horchata each. We were both in the mood for cheese quesadilla. On the menu you can order one 10" cheese quesadilla for $9.00. There's also a Mexican style quesadillas option on the menu which offers Two cheese quesadillas for $15.00. Rather than both of us ordering a separate quesadilla for $9.00 each, and then spending $18.00 total on quesadillas, we decided to share the two cheese quesadillas for $15.00. Wow...these two cheese quesadillas were puny. In all fairness, the menu doesn't state the size of the two cheese quesadillas, like it does for the individual 10" quesadilla. Still though...for $15.00, it really didn't seem like very good value. The quesadillas were delicious, but for $15? Really didn't seem worth the money. Growing up and living in California, I didn't realize there would be a scarcity of Mexican food. So, imagine my surprise (I know. Foolish American) when my friend and I were looking for Mexican food in Vancouver. La Taqueria was somewhat near (distance wise) to the suspension bridge. Definitely not walkable. It's in a more commercial area and we had a little bit of trouble finding it, but we managed to and good thing too. The food was so much better than I was expecting. It was absolutely delicious! Super cute interior with a good amount of seating. I want to make a note that this place did NOT have down time. There was always at least one customer at the counter or in line. I ordered the birria and I wish I had gotten two. My friend is vegan and was able to easily find something on the menu. Unfortunately, I forgot what it was, but she loved it too. Yes parking is an issue but hey not everyone is driving a vehicle to get there. Locals in the industrial area, the residential neighbourhood,cyclists M C's don't have an issue. I work 5 minutes from this location, so we come for lunch every few months. We would come every week for lunch, but there is that whole need to save every dollar to afford an apartment in Vancouver aspect. I digress. La taqueria has the best Mexican food on the north shore. I do miss the pre pandemic table side salsa bottles and pickled veggies. Had an al pastor burrito. BIG juicy fresh and filling. I was getting pretty hungry towards the end of my long run and was glad to have stumble upon this spot nicely tucked away in an industrial area in North Vancouver. The staff was friendly and the COVID protocols were clear: -Masks are mandatory. -There are clear signs for where you should go when you're ordering food. -Hand sanitizers are readily available inside/outside the restaurant. I ordered the baja taco and a bottle of Mexican coke for a total of $8.93 w/ tax. 1. Baja taco (3/5): This was just a solid, but not-cheap fish taco. I was disappointed by the amount of fish that was given and the lack of flavor on the fish. However, the crunchy coleslaw and the tangy sauce were both a plus. 2. Mexican coke (5/5): This doesn't influence the my Yelp review rating for La Taqueria. I just wanted to note that real sugar cane coke is better than the regular high fructose corn syrup coke anyday! Drive slow and look carefully or else you might drive right past this place. It only have a small "Tacos" sign outside. Being from New York, I was skeptical about this place especially where it was located. Looks like it was in the middle of an industrial area. We ordered the special and got 6 tacos for 12.00. We had 5 people in our party and I ordered 18 tacos in all. I was worry the special would mean cheap on the fillings but I was wrong. All the tacos were delicious and the fillings were plenty! We ordered carnitas, fish (2 kinds - fried and regular), tinga de pollo, shrimp (fried), tongue and beef cheeks. The carnitas were seasoned well, moist and had nice pieces of pineapple on top. The Tinga pollo was also tasty and moist. I don't think any of the tacos we order were bad. I only got pictures of some since people int he party was hungry :) They also had tons of mexican sodas and homemade mexican drinks (Horchata and Hibiscus tea). How the heck does this place have 3.5 stars? It's overpriced and inauthentic. A single taco costs $6.50, wow! I opted for a burrito that was filled mainly with rice, but also a couple chunks of chicken and julianed tortilla chips. The burrito was cut in half LOL. It's seriously Mexican with that modern fresh twist. We live in California (but I've not technically been to Mexico), so take what you will, but overall excellent and tasty food. The restaurant is super clean and it's a bit off the way it seems, but it worked perfect for us because we were heading up the coast to Squamish. Beautiful colors, flavors and damn good Mexican. I ordered the al pastor quesadilla. The quesadilla is filled with a ton of cheese and it's very rich and filling. So if you want a light snack, this isn't it. My bae loved the tacos, too. I tried a bit of everything and we left happy and full. I'd definitely recommend. Service is incredibly friendly. Top notch! read more

In a word (or maybe 3), great tasting tacos. Anyplace you can get tongue tacos is a step in the right direction! If memory serves, at the Hastings location, they get served with two small tortillas with each taco, but here, only one. And while still delicious, the get soggy and a little fally aparty a bit too quickly. Great pickled veg, and a decent variety of hot sauces. Great to have one of these on the North Shore. Overall the experience was a let-down. My son wanted just a regular bean and cheese burrito and you would think that any taco shop would have that for less than $5... they were going to charge $13.50 for that!! In fact, all the food was really expensive for what it was. That said, my fish taco was good but still high priced at $6.50-ish. They accommodated us on the bean & cheese by rolling up a quesadilla $7.50 (yes, just a tortilla, cheese and refried beans), but it was not really to his liking and despite them saying it was not spicy, it was. Great Mexican taco join that was fast and authentic. Being from Colorado and having had my fair share of authentic Mexican food I was pleasantly surprised by la taqueria. Got a variety of tacos to try my first time. On the blue plate there was the Asada (beef) and tinga de pollo (chicken) and on the green plate there was the de cachete (beef), carnitas (pork), pescado (fish) and tinga de pollo (chicken). All of them were very good but my favourites would have to be the de cachete, tinga and carnitas. Can't go wrong with any of them though! Perfect spot to try for lunch. read more

It pains me to give this place a bad review because we have been customers almost since the day it opened. This review pertains to the price/value ratio and more specifically the family Half Kilo Raja that we ordered on May 19 2021. This package is supposed to be enough for 10 tacos but what we got was a half filled vacuum packed bag of corn/pepper/onions stew, corn tacos, few pickled onions, few green onions and very small containers of hot sauce and avocado for $35 plus taxes plus tip. There was also not nearly enough accoutrements for 10 servings The corn/pepper/onions stew was v-e-r-y runny so it did not hold together at all. The corn tacos were brittle and fell apart before we put anything on. Once we added the fillings, we had to eat it with a fork and spoon. It was the worst taco filling and taco's we have ever eaten, and there was nothing umami or filling about the meal. On the contrary, we ordered a frozen bulk package a few months ago from the same location, and it contained a FULL vacuum packed bag of stew with vegan meat, PLUS a HUGE bag of rice and accoutrements. Unfortunately this item is no longer on the menu. Based on what we got this time around, the family pack is overpriced, and was not a great foodie experience at all. This location has the same vibe as the original (now closed) La Taqueria location on Cambie! You just go up to the counter to order and pay, then wait for your name to be called! This is my new favourite La Taqueria location. The 4" tacos (especially the carnitas and lengua) are awesome here. Unfortunately, they changed their 4" pescado taco from a deep-fried fish with salsa fresca to a chopped fish and bean mixture. Sadly, this new version of the pescado taco isn't as satisfying as the original version in terms of flavour and texture. However, they still offer the deep-fried fish in a larger 6" taco form. The carnitas and lengua tacos, horchata, casual vibes, and friendly service keep me coming back! My favourite taco spot since the Cambie location closed! read more

Taco are $3.50 each. Fish taco was $7. Our family of 5 was still hungry after spending $69, and another $31. Even the quesadilla was small. Meat and fish filling for tacos, burritos and quesadillas were less than average in portion. I would say food here is more of a snack then a real meal. read more

Amazing!! It may seem complicated looking at the menu, but the employees are SO helpful! They'll ask you if its your first time and if so, they'll recommend you to get the 4 tacos with different flavours. I got my order to be eaten in the shop. They delivered it to my table and explained what each of the tacos were and what sauces would taste good for each one. The shop is quite small but it's not that busy since it's in an industrial location. Definitely give it a try. It's one of the best Mexican places I've tried so far! read more

I have visited this location several times now, and each time has been a fantastic experience. The staff are friendly, patient, and happy. The food is excellent - freshly prepared, expertly seasoned/spiced, and with appealing presentation. The menu includes flour tortilla tacos, corn tortilla tacos, burritos, salads, soups, nachos, churros, Mexican sodas, and more. This is authentic Mexican food - don't be afraid to ask questions; the staff is more than happy to describe each item. Order at the counter, and then take a seat and wait for your food to be delivered. Customers should clear their own plates to the buckets provided at the side. Tap water and hand washing is available up front, which is great if you're dropping in here during a bike ride (it's located right beside the Spirit Trail) or after taking the kids to soccer. Street parking available right out front. No established bicycle parking but there are a few slender trees that can be used (carefully!) if you have a long/large lock. Incredible. Bottom line. You may have a hard time finding this spot at first, but once you do you'll be here weekly. Guaranteed. The tacos here are actually just so incredible. I have not once had something here I didn't absolutely love. On my list of favourites: Carnitas, Pescado, Carne Asada, Beef Cheek (oh man!), Hongos con Kale...Annnnnnd they have this amazing salsa verde grilled pork special that is just out of this world. Regardless of what you pick though the food is absolutely incredible. Beverage wise: Homemade horchata, hamaicha (my fav), dickies ginger beer, and every kind of jarritos you could imagine. So delicious. But what makes this place even more incredible is Alan. Alan is the manager here, and you will immediately just love him. My girlfriend Jess and I went for tacos one time, and the second time we came back (2 weeks later) Alan remembered us by name and greeted us so warmly when we walked in. Now we've gotten to know a few more of the staff, and every time we go in it's like the Taco-version of Cheers. Pro Fatty tip: Go on Wednesdays and you get 6 tacos for the price of 4. Pro tip #2: Go with a friend and you could each order one of everything and try it all. Do be aware, this place fills up fast, but don't be afraid to sit on the grass outside and enjoy your tacos picnic style if there's no seats available. read more

I almost don't want to write a review because the more popular it gets, the longer I have to wait for my tacos... Parking can be difficult and lines can be long during the lunch rush, but the service is quick and you don't have to wait too long to squeeze into a table. Even though I don't love crowds, they still get 5 stars because the tacos are out of this world. I've tried almost every type on the menu and none have disappointed. So fresh & tasty!!
